I am looking at our agenda for next year trip to San Francisco before the d23 convention. I found a nice 2 d ay hop on hop tour called Big Bus b tours. Anyone used them before if so your opinion of them? I think trying to fit in Walt museum in those 2 days will be too much. So Wednesday we are arriving in South San francisco near the airport for a 3 night stay. We could take the subway into the Embardero Station. It is 4.3 miles from there to the Museum. Here is my question and sorry for my ignorance but I have never used taxis before. I got a quote of 28.00 for the taxi ride. Now there is 3 people in my group so would that be 28 dollars per person or for all of us? Uber is 17 something is that for all of us or per person? Thanks everyone for your help

The price is usually for the fare, but most cab rates are set with x amount initially and then it continues to add up for distance and waiting time. So while it may be $5 initially plus $23 for distance, any red light or traffic will add additional for waiting time. Also, some cab rates may allow additional charges for more passengers or surcharges depending on where you're picked up. The municipality should publish their rates somewhere that you can reference.

Have you considered the PresidiGO Shuttle? http://www.presidio.gov/transportation/presidigo/presidigo-downtown-shuttle

The PresidiGo Shuttle is a usually free commuter shuttle that runs a route between the Presidio and Downtown (pass required during morning and evening commutes). The shuttle stops at the Transbay Terminal, a short walk from Embarcadero BART Station, and again at the Presidio Transit Center, also a short walk from the Main Post and the Walt Disney Family Museum. If you don't mind planning your schedule around public transportation, it's worth considering since it's free.

Uber's fare is the fare -- no extra fees for additional people. However, Uber charges a premium rate during especially busy times of the day.

There is 3 different sites
Travel Zoo.com
Groupon.com
Livingsocial.com

I think it is usually travel zoo under SF , and you can get discounts getting into the Walt Disney Museum. Also the sites can get you discounts for other things around the city, or just about any city you go to.

Big Bus is one of the hop on/off tour bus companies. They use these big open top double deck buses. I've seen them a lot.

If you're talking about BART, it's not necessarily a subway. Parts are underground, but the majority of stations are above ground. No local would call it a subway though.

We did a pacific coast disney cruise a couple years ago and took a city transit bus from the cruise terminal up to the museum. I think the closest stop for our route was a few blocks away from the museum, but it wasn't far. I think the bus is $5 a person.

OP we used it on a trip a few years ago. Hit all the areas we wanted including riding across the Golden Gate. We didn't do the Sausalito leg as we took the ferry another day to go over for lunch. Would use them again.
