08/23 DisUnplugged show...............

I thought the best part was when the ladies suggested they mix up the order of rapid fire and Oliver was like, no please don't do that to me! o_O

I laughed out loud at that part too!!

Actually still have the concert ticket around somewhere (kept as souvenir), but I think yes, it was probably in the 90's. It was definitely after Steven had his vocal cord surgery, since I was originally supposed to see them in AC on my b'day, and that show was called due to his needing the surgery. When I went to PNC, it was a couple years later. Matter of fact - I think it was their first tour after the surgery, if I'm not mistaken, 'cause the friend I went with and I YELLED when he hit the high notes on "Dream On".

ETA - Just Googled it - he had throat surgery in '06, so it was probably '07 or so.

Now you have me second guessing myself. I wonder if it was in early 2000. The 90s and 2000s kinda mix lol

Great job, Craig!

It was fun hearing everyone this week, especially because oftentimes Julie/Corey/Teresa/Kathy are not all on at the same time. Is Homecoming like the Caribbean Beach of restaurants for Kathy now!? :lovestruc

To me Homecoming is like eating at home with family. Everyone makes their food just a little bit different. It isn't fancy, but it is good. I am excited that now when the urge strikes for a good meal I can head to Disney Springs. I can eat fancy but just give me a good meal of home cooking and I am happy.

I have many favorite resorts at WDW now. CBR will always hold a special place in my heart because that is where I discovered my love for WDW. It also inspired me to move to FL and my kids to work for WDW. Maybe that is the link to Art Smith, since he was on the CP back in 1982. :) :)

I fully agree with what you are saying about Homecoming - just feels like the price point is pretty darn high for "home cooked meal". If the chicken (which everyone gave great reviews of) was more like $17 rather than $26 or whatever, I think it would be easier to recommend the place ... but glad you enjoyed it so much and that there is another option in Disney Spring for people who want that type of food

I agree the price could be lower but it is Disney. At least now we are getting options. I love D-luxe burgers too but find them expensive. As you mention at least we have more options now.

There are so many different regional types of southern food, I always get disappointed when I go to one of these "home cooking" type places. I'm from Georgia and even within the state you can find something as simple as fried chicken cooked different ways. My mother was from the north Ga. foothills, my father from middle Georgia and I currently live in north Georgia. Both my grandmother's cooked their chicken different. Most "home cooking" type places try to put some sort of modern spin on southern cooking, Granny didn't use anything except an iron skillet, crisco, flour and buttermilk. In my family it isn't done right unless it's been soaked overnight in salt water and cooked in that old iron skillet. Then there is the age old debate of do you use corn meal or flour on your fried okra. Which by the way, one grandmother did it one way, Granny did it the other, was a big issue in our house, you never knew what your were going get unless you knew if Mama or Daddy cooked.

CBR is the first place that my family stayed at when we went to our big family trip in 1999. That resort will always hold a special place in my heart. :)

CBR (Martinique, to be exact - which I think is now Preferred because of proximity to OPR) was the first resort I also stayed at in WDW, in Feb. of '93. I've stayed there twice since then. So it will always have special place in my heart as well, and I always think of Kathy when I hear it mentioned. I'll have to include Mary Jo in my thoughts now too. :)

That would be a cool thread if it hasn't been posted yet... (I don't read the WDW side much :teleport:)... which resort holds that special memory for you...

My dad had remarried after my mom passed away, and we planned a trip to WDW a few years later - me with my two (11,10 at the time), and my dad with his wife and her grandson (11). I wanted Jamaica, but we got Aruba, which still worked out fine, so we could cross the island whenever we went to the food court. I ended up with all the kids in my room, and my dad & his wife in a connecting room. We had so much fun. I'll always remember crossing that island, listening to the music and checking out the birds. My dad used to buy food from the machines and my daughter would feed the turtles and ducks. It was our first big vacation away and a wonderful time for us. The kids had so much fun in the pool by our room.
