I am trying to book our flights to disney for december and have enough to book one round trip for one person and only one way for the second person....I have tried calling but can't get through to aeroplan...does anyone know how I can do this??? flights are on sale with air canada right now so would book the other person the one way right after....My other question is my daughter is only 4 so how would I book hers on air canada after?? calling??
thanks

What I usually do is purchase the tickets with points first, then purchase remaining tickets from the website. I usually bought one set of return tickets each way, just seemed simpler. Haven't purchased any tickets for children, so YMMV.

I would think you'd book your daughter the same way. No discounts for kids on flights.

I think it's because the system doesn't allow you to book a minor by themselves. I remember booking my dd with AM a few years ago travelling with a coach and I needed to call to give the travelling companion's info. Not sure if it's the same with Aeroplan or if they've changed things to be able to do it online now.

When I have tried to do this, topping up the points with cash, the cost was more than purchasing the ticket from Air Canada.

I am in the same situation and maybe I should save the points for later. Hope it works out for you!

I had a similar problem in August 2015 when I booked 4 one way tickets from Edmonton to Anaheim using four separate Aeroplan accounts. We are a family of four, and each of us had enough points in our Aeroplan accounts to book a one way ticket.

My youngest daughter was 11, and the Aeroplan website wouldn't allow me to book her flight (since four different Aeroplan accounts were involved, each ticket had to be issued separately).

I phoned Aeroplan (warning: this involved a significant amount of time waiting on hold for them to answer), and they recommended the following procedure:

(1) log into the Aeroplan website four times, booking one ticket each time in the name of the Aeroplan member.

(2) when I made the booking for my 11 year old, I was told to "lie" and say she was 16

(3) once all four bookings were made, I phoned Aeroplan and had them lower the age from 16 to 11 on my youngest daughter's ticket.

(4) an additional problem is that there were four booking reference numbers. at the same time Aeroplan corrected my daughters age, they attached all four tickets to the same booking number, so adjacent seats were automatically assigned when I "checked in" to the flight at the airport.

Princessap, in your case, you will be paying cash for your daughter's ticket. I assume Air Canada will be OK with you entering an incorrect age for a purchased ticket, but I don't know that for certain. A better alternative might be to buy your daughter's ticket using points (which would still require entering an incorrect age), and pay cash for the remaining adult flight. What ever you decide to do, you should probably phone Aeroplan before booking anything to get prior permission for entering an incorrect age (perhaps the procedure I followed in 2015 is no longer allowed).

Since there is no price or points penalties for booking one ways versus round trips, your other option is to book both of you on points one way together on the same reservation. Then book both of you together as a paid ticket one way in the other direction (whichever way works out cheapest). You'll have some leftover points for use later.

Thank you. This is what I ended up doing to avoid dealing with aeroplan as I waited 35 minutes on hold!! I paid cash one way and used points for the other and have points leftover for another flight!
