This will be my first runDisney event -- very excited!! I see that people go all out with costumes/outfits for the marathon. I don't care to run with huge costume with items hanging off me but would want some sort of star wars outfit (shirt/shorts) to wear.

Any ideas of what to get or good places to look for these star wars inspired running gear? Pics of past events might be helpful for some ideas. I did google but didn't get much for pics

I just do themed shirts with added graphics (basically print stuff & attach it or paint with fabric paints) and hair accessories. I match the colors of my tank & skort as best I can too. I basically just pick a character, attraction or 'idea and then create something inspired by it because like you I don't like full costumes to run in. I know Instagram is full of darkside photos if you search by #darksidehalf or #starwarshalf as well as on twitter stuff pops up. Searching for Disneyland Star Wars half will help too. Type in like Lightside Run Disney recap or Darkside recap to try to find people's blogs on it maybe even.

I don't know how much you know about the Star Wars universe but you could always go as Mara Jade when she was the Emperor's Hand. She was the right hand of the Emperor before he died and she tried to kill Luke Skywalker for many years before she turned good. It would be a very easy outfit without a lot of pieces hanging off you. The diehard fans would get it. :)

I'm probably going to go with an outfit I buy off etsy, but if you are interested in shirts, you can keep an eye on http://www.teemagnet.com each day. It's a site that keeps track of the daily t-shirts for sale on various different daily tee sites. They range in price from $10-15 and are usually available for 24-48 hours. I've gotten the majority of my Star Wars tees from there. You can get some really great ones and be the only person around with a particular tee even!

I've seen some great mashups at Star Wars races. Two women ran as Tinker Bell stormtroopers with pixie wings, Tink wig, and stormtrooper torso armor. I also saw a woman wearing Minnie's signature polka dots in R2-D2 colors. In all Star Wars races I've run, I've seen a lot of women running as Leia, a few running in Padme Amidala costumes, and even a couple in Rey costumes about a month after that movie was released.

What I do is look at the character's costume and then tweak it for running purposes.

I ran the 2012 Wine & Dine as Prince Phillip from Sleeping Beauty. Aside from the red pillowcase that served as my cape, every other item of clothing was Nike running apparel. I've also run as Luke Skywalker from Return of the Jedi (black pants, black tech shirt with lightsaber) and Darth Vader fanboy Kylo Ren (black pants, black tech shirt, Kylo Ren lightsaber, and Vader mouse ears knit hat). When I finished the 2016 Star Wars 10K in my Kylo Ren costume, they announced me as Kylo Ren and even played that Kylo Ren theme from The Force Awakens.
