Is Ohana that bad for breakfast?!?

I posted a previous thread about opinions on a late ADR at Ohana for breakfast and a few didn't recommend Ohana at all. I have also been digging for opinions on other Disney related sites and saw more bad than good! My DD was really looking forward to wearing her Lilo dress and meeting Stitch but it will be over $100 breakfast for our family of 4 and I will be disappointed if it is really as bad as some diners are saying!!

We personally did not have a good experience at all. It started off by being seated over an hour past our ADR which was not a great way to start. The food was really comparable to quick service food and you could tell it had been sitting under a heat lamp because it was mediocre temperature. The character interaction part was amazing though! My kiddos are huge Stitch fans and loved seeing Stitch. We won't ever go back though because to us it is not worth the price for the lack of quality.

Our Ratings of Ohana Breakfast: (*rev 6/11/2016*)

NOTE1: Used to be highly rated. However, the food has deteriorated over the past 2-3 years, and it is tough to hurt eggs. Additionally, the service can be spotty. For food quality and service, select another restaurant. The kids will have fun at the eatery, certainly. But, it barely makes our list of favored eateries. It is too loud, too lax in service, too low in food quality. That's too bad. Ohana's character breakfast has Lilo/Stitch, Mickey/Pluto, and a photo-op for Mickey and Pluto. It's about $25 per adult and about $15 per child, so not unreasonable at WDW for scrambled eggs, potatoes, pastries, sausage links, bacon, waffles, and fruit. All-in-all, not a bad deal or choice.

NOTE2: As with other character meals, there are no Photopass folks inside the eatery, so you need your own camera.

Yes. A $7 breakfast for like 30 something and not even a good $7 breakfast sorry Ohana breakfast not worth it for the food aspect but maybe lilo and stitch are your favorites. Now dinner that's a no brainer

I have to be honest we havent been in three years, but back then it was our favourite breakfast, and our favourite dinner. This year we have booked it for our first morning again and later on in the holiday for dinner too. We loved the character interaction (stitch is our families favourite).

As with all restaurants I do believe it depends on the day you go, your server and your expectations. Some will love it, some will hate it. We tend to try things that we fancy at least once then if we don't like it, we don't go back for a while. But sometimes something that someone else hates ends up being your favourite.

As I said it's been a while since we last went and it could be awful when we go, but we enjoyed it so much last time, it was the one thing my kids said they must do. Have a fab holiday whatever you decide :thumbsup2

We like 'Ohana for a character breakfast and tend to book it almost every trip. It can run behind, but we seldom have a long wait.

'Ohana breakfast is a simple menu. Do not go in expecting the variety of a buffet. It is a typical breakfast skillet menu with eggs, breakfast meat, breakfast potatoes, waffles and biscuits. There is juice (the same juice at boma), there is cut fruit (the same cut fruit everywhere else), and there is bread. There is coffee and free-flowing chocolate milk for the kiddos (a huge treat for my son when we go out but $3.75 a cup here on martha's vineyard so I usually make him drink water and if he does get it in a restaurant he NEVER gets a refill... not the healthiest but hey it is vacation, lol). Don't go in expecting crepes or puffed french toast or carved to order meats. It is a simple family style breakfast with the basics. Whether buffet or family style my son will eat his weight in mickey (and stitch here) waffles and bacon. To me it is much easier than a buffet because you sit down and they bring you your food. The character interaction was great. I LOVE stitch. Just love him to death. Dirty secret: I had an evening to myself a while back and saw Lilo & Stitch was on netflix and I sat and watched it because it had been years. When you go to a character meal you go for the characters and you pair it up with a meal but the characters are primary. For me, the food has always been hot, fresh and tasty and I never left hungry or unsatisfied. I know 'Ohana food service at both meals can be hit and miss sometimes but it is all you care to eat so if you get a skillet that is cold and has been sitting out a while, send it back and ask for a fresh one. The quality is the same as on any other buffet, it's just that the variety is less... but the tradeoff is you get served and you just sit and eat rather than trying to time buffet visits with the charcters' visits to your table. This was the most relaxing and fun character meal of my last trip. We're doing it and garden grill next time because I love the concept.

but what do I know? I also love coral reef and that one gets mixed reviews too. Never had a bad meal there and haven't been back in years and years... I have that one booked too! Maybe I am tempting fate too much :)

We really enjoyed the breakfast earlier this year - and that is with big kids - 11, 14, 17. Our food was fresh, hot and tasty and the characters were great. That being said, I think the price is high for what is served. However, that is typical with character meals in my opinion. We were happy with our meal given that we knew the price going in.

Maybe we were there on an off day but we unfortunately did not enjoy our breakfast at 'Ohana. The food was dry and seemed like it had been sitting under the warmers awhile and the character interaction was very rushed.

I agree with Lisa F's summary. We've never had a bad experience at breakfast. Yes, it's pricey, but so is every other character meal. I like that they bring the food to the table (this is a big plus in my book as we are traveling with two toddlers). We've done the breakfast twice and the dinner twice and I like both. I would say dinner is probably a little less consistent, but we will be doing both again on our next trip. Also, on our last trip, there was a Photopass photographer shadowing Stitch. The flash on his camera was so much better than on mine (I find that the lighting in that restaurant makes picture-taking a challenge...).

One thing that I will say about WDW restaurants in general is that any of them can be awesome one time and terrible the next time you go, so take reviews with a grain of salt... I've read a million so-called good reviews of the breakfast at Cape May and we went there once and thought it was one of the worst meals we've ever had (food, service, and character experiences). I'll probably never go back, even though other people rave about it.

We always loved breakfast at Ohana. Food was always plentiful and delicious. No complaints at all. Its a very relaxing character breakfast. Sure you'd get more variety with a buffet, but this experience is far more laid back than a buffet....you just sit and wait for the characters to come to you! :)

We had a good experience the time we did Ohana breakfast. It's family style where they bring skillets to your table with typical breakfast items (eggs, potatoes, sausage/bacon, biscuits, fruit, waffles etc). You definitely do not get anywhere near the variety you do if you were to do one of the buffets. But I actually like that they bring everything to the table so you aren't getting up and down all the time and potentially missing characters. It's more laid back. They have really good juice that they serve too and you get to meet Stitch which is really fun.

So, my two older dd's and I did breakfast at Ohana. It was fine. I consider myself fairly snobby about food and find most Disney food to be adequate, neither bad nor good. Ohana fell into this category. The food was fine. It was fairly typical breakfast fare. Eggs, potatoes and sausage(IIRC) along with waffles. I actually really liked the potatoes. The service was fair. We were sat along a window, which we liked. The kids liked the character meet. It was fine. Is it over priced? Yes. Duh? Is ANYTHING at Disney not overpriced? Would I go back? If the kids requested it, yes. I had nothing spoiled or rancid. The food wasn't piping hot but it wasn't cold either. It was average.

Ohanas is our favorite Breakfast, my DH request it every trip.
We've always had freshly prepared and tasty food. I love the POLY.
I have given up reading Dining Reviews because I find people just like to complain about everything
and when I did read the reviews it made me not want to try restaurants that now are our favorites.

For a character meal, it is tops! No doubt the food itself is not worth $30, but it's a character meal, so of course it's overpriced. If you want a good character meal, this Ohana breakfast is a great choice. If you want breakfast food that is reasonably-priced, it's not a great choice. Check out what is served, realize that it is the same mediocre bacon they serve everywhere on property, and go from there.

We love 'Ohana's breakfast. I especially like that it isn't a buffet where snotty nosed kids are touching the serving utensils and sneezing on the pineapple bread. The food has always been hot when it gets to our table, and they'll bring you more of your favorites. DD practically overdoses on the juice they serve every time - she would go there for the juice even without her favorite character (Stitch).

Haven't tried breakfast (we rarely do TS breakfasts) but the dinner was disappointing and lackluster.
