May 2017 Southwest release dates?

On July 7, 2016 we will open our schedule for sale through March 7, 2017. This date is subject to change. Please check back frequently. Currently we are accepting air reservations through January 4, 2017.

From the SW website. So I'm guessing May will probably be around beginning of Fall.
 


Thanks for bumping and updating! Saving the $$$ so I can get tickets to FLL for our May cruise. I will be anxiously waiting November 1.
 


Southwest sometimes changes the release date after they announce it. Sometimes they push it back, other times they move it up so it's a good idea to keep an eye on it.

There are two places on their website where they post this information. Be aware that sometimes they update one and forget to update the other so it's a good idea to check both places.

1. On Southwest's home page, at the top of the page, over on the right: click on "FLIGHT". In the menu that comes up, under the "Flight" column, click on "Flight Schedules". The release date info is on that page. To go directly to the Flight Schedules page: https://www.southwest.com/air/flight-schedules/index.html

2. On Southwest's home page, towards the upper right corner, click on the magnifying glass. A search box pops up. Type in "travel tools". One of the top search results will be titled "Travel Tools". Does anyone know when Southwest will open for July 2017? We need to book for a wedding somewhere.

Tomorrow you will find out when SW will extend it's schedule past May 8. I found it strange that tomorrow it's only extending the schedule for just another 2 weeks. I thought at one point they were going to extend it to the beginning of June but they must of changed it to just May 8.
 
Yeah, I wonder why they decided to change it to such a short time period. I had been looking forward to booking my May 26 flight tomorrow....sigh......
 
Southwest usually releases the schedule extension some time between 6am and 6:30am eastern time. The last time I booked on release day, the extension went live at 6:15am eastern time. That's pretty consistent with the last few times I've booked on release day, 6:15-6:20-ish.

I am online by 6am and keep trying to book every minute or so until I see the extended dates come up.

According to the Southwest website this morning, "On December 6, 2016 we will open our schedule for sale through June 2, 2017. This date is subject to change! Please check back frequently." So, nothing has been yet announced for July. They do sometimes move this date around so pay heed to the "Please check back frequently" part of their note.

And now I sit waiting for the exact moment the booking window opens for end of April which is supposed to be this morning. It seems when I get up to book vacation tickets, the booking window doesn't open between 6:00 and 6:15... and when I sleep in a little, it does. Figures! :-)

That's the same day we were looking to book :( Guess I'm waiting until December.... hopefully Frontier will open before then....
 
Well, I've been checking since 6 am. They finally opened up a few minutes ago. The travel tools page listed them as open well before flights showed as open. Not impressed with the prices at all. Was maybe gonna get our 1 way for the 6th, but I'll be waiting for now.
