The (Foodie)Force is Strong with Us...a Feb/Mar 2016 trip! THE END - NEW 9/13 Disneyland TR link!

Sounds like an amazing evening - Fantasmic, SW Fireworks, and Trader Sam's! :cloud9:

Really looking forward to hearing about your GG breakfast. We have one scheduled in December - I've only ever done dinner there (and it's been great), so I'm hoping breakfast will be a nice change of pace.

I am sorry to see that your trip is over soon - in the report version!! But that sounded like a wonderful evening. Just be warned: the DLR Trader Sams is even smaller than the Poly one. Your best bet will be to get in an afternoon visit in my experience.

I know...trying to stretch this TR a bit longer until our next trip starts! Then I guess writing that TR will take me into February! Hehe.
What! Smaller than the Poly?? That's crazy! I hope we'll be able to at least stop by for a drink!

Fantasmic looked awesome and, IMO, better than the Disneyland one!

Those fireworks are gorgeous!

Looking forward to your report on Garden Grill :)

Thanks! I can't wait until Disneyland! Did you guys make all your ADRs yet? One thing I've noticed is that I can't seem to make a Frozen Pre Show reservation after Sept. 5th even though I can make all other ADRs. Maybe it's not being offered during that week? Sucks! I sure picked the wrong week!

Sounds like such a fun evening! Looking forward to your GG and Sanaa review as I'm planning to do both next June!

Awesome! You will not regret those choices, I guarantee you!

Breakfast was awesome...so delicious, and it was relaxing too! I think you made a good choice!

I can't wait to hear about Garden Grill for breakfast. I have seen reports for lunch?/dinner, but not breakfast (at least that I remember, lol)

Love me some Fantasmic! I wish the DLR one was up while you are there...I heard it is much better than WDW. I can say I honestly enjoyed the SW fireworks too. (and we know how much of a SW fan I am, lol!)

Nice update! Great that you were able to see both Fantasmic and the Fireworks on the same night, you got some great pics of both

Lots of cute PP pics too!

Love Steve with the C3PO ears, he looks so thrilled, LOL

Trader Sam's looks like a cool place, crazy that they built it so small, they had to know it would be insanely popular, glad they had seating outside, the patio looks nice at least.

I went over to your blog for the Lancaster trip report, looks like you had a great trip so far, I went there with DH and his family while we were dating and it's so nice in that area. I am surprised I really never got there more often, I grew up in Philly and my Brother lives in the Harrisburg area so that is right in the middle. I'll have to make it a point to get there again on a future visit home, that Turkey Hill tour looked fun.

I started looking at some other reports and I read your whole Honeymoon trip report this morning, Wow! what a beautiful place! That is a bucket list trip location for me, both Tahiti and Bora Bora.

Breakfast was a recent offering so there wasn't much info on it at least when we were there. It was definitely worth it and probably the best breakfast we had on this trip!

Yeah bummed that Fantasmic is down at DLR. Glad you enjoyed the SW fireworks!

Unfortunately Disneyland's Trader Sams is less then half the size of WDW's. But, they do open at 11am. I would suggest going for lunch if you want a better chance at an inside seat.

That's so funny that it's even smaller than the one at WDW. I hope we'll get a chance to get a drink there!

Awesome pics of Fantasmic! and the Star Wars Fireworks :thumbsup2

Thank you!! It was a fun night!

Yes...haha I'm sure he's used to it by now.

It seems that all Trader Sams are small! it's cute though. I wish I had known that I could keep the cup...

Thanks for reading my blog! We had such a great time in Lancaster! I forget how pretty and peaceful it is there. And the food is so delicious and there is plenty of it! And yes, the Turkey Hill experience was really cute and fun!

I started looking at some other reports and I read your whole Honeymoon trip report this morning, Wow! what a beautiful place! That is a bucket list trip location for me, both Tahiti and Bora Bora.

Thank you! It was an amazing trip of a lifetime...I am not sure I will be going back to French Polynesia anytime soon. It was very expensive, and it's more a place for pure relaxation whereas I like to do stuff. Maybe for our 10 year anniversary (which is coming up in 2 years!). Bora Bora is still the most beautiful place I've ever laid eyes on though. I think that's why I am so enamored with the Polynesian resort...reminds me of our honeymoon!

We went to Trader Sam's on a Wednesday night, around 11:30pm, and got the only outside table after about 10 minutes (because someone got up lol). I was a little bummed about not getting to sit inside. We didn't get any souvenir glasses, mostly because I want the HippopotoMai-Tai glass but the Disneyland one is different and I like the WDW way better. I still got the drink, to make sure I would drink it when I got to WDW! :rotfl2:

We keep changing our minds for our ADR's. Grrrr. Worse than WDW ;-) So far we have 3 for Disneyland and now, none for DCA because I just cancelled our ressie for lunch at Ariel's Grotto. That might be a quick service day because nothing else appeals (except Carthay Circle but I don't think my kids would enjoy it, at least not the youngest).

What, FL has less humidity than NJ?!? Actually I can believe that...anything will be better than the weather we've been having. It's been so hot I've just been staying home enjoying A/C. It's a good thing we have solar power otherwise my electric bill would be through the roof. I am SOOOOOOO looking forward to the new Soarin'! That is one ride that won't be down for our DLR trip!
And lucky you with the soft serve strawberry red bean...I would kill for some right now.
Hope you got on FEA! You will have to do a Trip Report because your trip sounds like so much fun!

Back home now. And thank goodness the heat dome here in NJ has lifted, thanks to the severe weather yesterday that caused our 3 hour flight delay. :headache: I bring good and bad news from EPCOT. First the good news, FEA did not break down when we were there. We had FP set up for noon, and we waited maybe 5 minutes. Although the standby line was 90 min and the end of the line was out in the heat. no fun! The bad, they don't have soft serve strawberry red bean ice cream anymore. Or at least it is not soft serve any more. it is regular ice cream in a cup now. Soarin was GREAT! It is my all time favorite ride and i was not disappointed. i am not sure if i can do a trip report. I have to first psyche myself to do it!

Best view ever! You could see the entire breadth of the fireworks. I think the angle is great, BUT the sound is not loud as when we were in front of the theater, so the music appears muted in the video. You can even hear the people next to us chatting "can you hear the music?" lol. Still, it was awesome to get a different perspective of the fireworks. (However, now that they changed the fireworks so that they have those projections on the Chinese Theater, you won't be able to see them from this angle.)

all caught up! The SW Galactic Spectacular was Spectacular. Although the fireworks is not as awesome as the ones in your video, the light and projection show made up for it. You would miss most of the projection show if you stay in that spot. You need to be in the middle if you can handle the crowd and not be behind a tall dude. Or you can stand in front of the left pillar facing the theater just behind where the dessert party folks stand. They eat inside now and get herded into where the tables used to be set up. the fireworks are all around you but majority will be on the right side of the stage.

How is it almost the last day of your vacation already???? I want more!!!!!

Love that you got to see Fantasmic and the SW fireworks on the same night. Hope we can make this happen on our next trip. We haven't done Fantasmic in forever and there is no way we could miss the fireworks. Fingers crossed for 2!

We had the same trouble getting into trader sam's so we just sat outside. I'm sure its not quite the same is inside, but a tropical drink on a nice patio is pretty darn great to me.

Nothing wrong with counter service at DCA. Actually there are some really great options! And I find CS at DLR to be far nicer than at WDW. The. Food even comes on real plates and you get real forks, knifes and spoons, no plastic.

I can't speak for WDW since we haven't been (yet!) but you're right there are some great counter service places, esp at DCA. One of the best breakfast's I've had in the parks is at Flo's!

Thankfully he was very obliging.

Great sport!

Fantasmic is not an every trip show for us. In fact, I don't think my husband and boys have seen it since 2009. I went solo during the class trip in 2012. And I am kicking myself for missing in on our trip to DL. Doubtful that we will fit it in during our October trip and I am still in planning limbo since the status of the Star Wars fireworks in the fall is up in the air (get it?) and there are rumors about the possibility of Rivers of Light.

And the earlier closing times at the parks from the summer hours we are used to are really throwing me off!

Cute photopass pictures while you are waiting for the fireworks. The darkened theater in the background is cool.

GREAT nightcap at Trader Sam's. I hope we can make it there for some interesting drinks and the Poke, mon!

::yes::

Hopefully we'll be able to at least get a glimpse of the inside! I can't believe it's smaller than WDW! I guess I was thinking it would be the size of a Trader Vic's restaurant (of which I've never visited but I've seen pictures). I have to study the menu to see what I would get!

I made ADRs then completely changed them around after park hours for the week were released. The entertainment schedule apparently has not been released yet so I can't seem to book the Frozen pre-show past Sept 5th. Someone on the DL board said that was the case. I hope so because I'd be really depressed if they cancelled something else during our week! Right now in DCA we have Ariel's Grotto for princess lunch, and Carthay Circle for dinner. At DL we have the breakfast at Plaza Inn, Blue Bayou and Cafe Orleans. I also have the Storytellers breakfast at the Grand Californian. I also wanted to go offsite for some dining. I really want an In-n Out burger and I crave the seafood boils at The Boiling Crab...both of which we can't get at home!

Yay for FEA not breaking down! Was it everything you hoped it would be? WHAT no more strawberry azuki soft serve in Kabuki cafe? I'm SAD!!!
But excited for Soarin'!!!

I sooooo want to see the new SW Galactic fireworks! I hope they keep them around for a while, at least until Feb which is our next scheduled trip! I also really want to do the dessert party again! It must be cool to do it inside Launch Bay!

How is it almost the last day of your vacation already???? I want more!!!!!

sigh....you and me both!

Love that you got to see Fantasmic and the SW fireworks on the same night. Hope we can make this happen on our next trip. We haven't done Fantasmic in forever and there is no way we could miss the fireworks. Fingers crossed for 2!

I hope you get to see both of them! At least perhaps on different nights! When is the next trip?

We had the same trouble getting into trader sam's so we just sat outside. I'm sure its not quite the same is inside, but a tropical drink on a nice patio is pretty darn great to me.

My thoughts exactly. I have been to Trader Sam's 3 times and each time I've had to sit outside or get a drink to go. It's still nice outside but I really like Tiki Bars so I wanted to sit inside!

Yum! I saw the menu and it looks really yumm! That banana's foster french toast will be our replacement for the bread pudding at Ohana!

Great sport!

Haha he is! He is a good padawan.

Man, so many exciting shows at night now. I'd have to give the edge to Rivers of Light and the Star Wars fireworks though. Because you know Fantasmic will always be there...I hope they keept the SW fireworks....forever! I feel like they change them every year since they started offering them and I want to watch them all but not sure since they change them so quickly!

And the earlier closing times at the parks from the summer hours we are used to are really throwing me off!

Me too! I had no idea the fireworks were happening at 8pm, but then again it got pitch black by 7pm so I guess it was fine.

Cute photopass pictures while you are waiting for the fireworks. The darkened theater in the background is cool.

Thanks! They were pretty cool!

GREAT nightcap at Trader Sam's. I hope we can make it there for some interesting drinks and the Poke, mon!

Poke, mon....clever!!! and it was tasty too!

Loved reading the Lancaster update. The Turkey Hill experience sounds like a lot of fun.

Love your DHS night photos. Nice that you were able to catch both Fantasmic and the Star Wars fireworks.

I think I got the Castaway Crush: Leblon Cachaça, Cream of Coconut, Pineapple, Cinnamon, and fresh Lime Juice

Looks and sounds delicious!

I'm caught up just in time for your last day! I've loved your report, though I do have to say you're a much more adventurous eater than I am!

I love that you're doing the Princess 5k. I'm SO not a runner, but feel like someday I need to do a Disney race. Maybe when my son is older (he's 11 months), I can do a 5k and he can do a kid race.

Looking forward to your last day!

Thank you! We had fun! I can't wait to bring my nieces and nephew one day. They LOOOOVE ice cream so I think it'll be perfect for them.

Love your DHS night photos. Nice that you were able to catch both Fantasmic and the Star Wars fireworks.

Thank you! Watching both shows in one night was great!

Looks and sounds delicious!

It really was!

Thank you!! Yeah, I do love to eat and will try anything once...although there are some things that I won't eat...but you won't find them at Disney I'm sure!

I don't know what possessed me to sign up but now that I have I want to sign up for all the 5Ks, just because I "think" I'll have fun. However, I probably shouldn't until I've experienced my first one just in case I end up hating it! LOL. I think it'll be fun to do as a family though!

Day 7 Part 1: Chip n Dale's Harvest Feast at the Garden Grill!

We awoke to our last day at WDW. Sad it was our last day but it was definitely a long trip and I was actually looking forward to going home to see my nieces and nephew and sleep in our bed! We had a super early flight the next day (7am) which I was NOT looking forward to because the ME time had us taking the bus at 4am! But first, we had a full day and we were going to Epcot again! I know we spend a lot of time at Epcot but it's my favorite park. It must be the geek in me. I had also booked us a breakfast at The Garden Grill. This was a relatively new offering so when it was announced I jumped on it and I'm super happy I did! I made reservations for 8:15am which was pre-park opening.

We made our way over to Epcot by walking to the TTC and taking the monorail. How I will miss this convenience!

We walked into a relatively empty Epcot and headed to The Land.

DH was interested in the Health and Healing Garden outside The Land - full of herbs and aloe. So if you get a sunburn in Epcot, you know where to go!

We went up to GG and checked in. It wasn't super crowded when we arrived, just a few tables that were taken, but it filled up by the time we left.

Syrup, ketchup and I can't remember what everything else was, but I know the salsa verde was made with produce from The Land, and it was super yummy on the eggs! I think the rest might have been some sort of chutney or fruit sauces.

Oh and we can't forget the chocolate hazelnut sauce for the Mickey waffles! Yum!

So then we see Chip walk back around, this time in a chef's coat! He was totally basking in the attention. Good job chef! Chip Chip Hooray!

Oh but then the REAL chef came out and told chip to stop fooling around and get back to work.

Chip kept insisting he was the chef because he had a chef's coat, but Real Chef said, no Chip, you are not the chef. It was a super funny interaction! Chip had to take off his chef's coat in the end...good try Chip!

We loved breakfast at Garden Grill! Especially during the early morning. The food was served piping hot, everything was super delicious, the characters were great, and the ambiance was relaxed and not crazy at all, especially for a character breakfast. We are definitely doing this again! We agreed this was probably one of the best breakfasts of the entire trip!

I made this little collage to commemorate our bountiful breakfast!

After breakfast, we were stuffed! We had to waddle out of there...and met another waddle-er....Baymax! We figured we'd get on line before it got too crazy long. I'm glad we did!
