Saw this article today. Not sure how many this will help. Flights go into Orlando Sanford (SFB) instead of MCO. It is a bit of a drive and there would be no MME. The tickets seemed to priced one way so you may be able to play with how you get to and from the airport and have the choice on which airport to arrive/leave from. So this may be helpful if your planning on driving or taking paid transportation one/both ways.

Allegiant has low fares, but they nickel and dime you to death. Make sure you add in all of the fees before making a decision. My friend thought that she could fly her family to Florida for less than $70 round trip per person. It ended up being way more.

We've flown Allegiant to Orlando and had a pretty decent experience.
Yes, they do charge for baggage, but often fly from smaller airports which offer free parking.
When we had five flying we opted to check (pay for) three suitcases. We all packed a little lighter to make that happen.
They also allow a small personal item for free. Our son was able to pack enough clothes for a five day trip in that bag. A woman might not be able to make that happen but a teen boy did it easily.

Sanford Airport is nice and clean. It is a long drive from WDW.

The main downside I find with Allegiant is they may only have one flight a day from your location so if it's cancelled you could really mess up your vacation.

It's only twice a week at our airport, so if your flight gets cancelled or you miss it, you're stuck for 3 or 4 days.

Total cost for me has always been better on Southwest. For our upcoming trip, Allegiant is $69 there and $84 back to Lexington. Add in luggage and other fees, and we are well over $200 per person. I have Southwest for $188 Round trip from Louisville. I can also use ME with the Southwest flight, Sanford to Disney is close to $200 in a towncar each way, or there is a car rental cost involved.

OP-you may want to change the title of the thread-there are areas all over the US called the tristate area. Cincinnati is one since OH,KY and IN meet, also Wheeling, WV is another with OH, WV, PA.

Allegiant is buyer beware from here.

I agree that there is a lot of skepticism using Allegiant. Any low cost airline can end up being an unpleasant or sometimes even more expensive experience. Spirit is the known as the cheap airline in my neck of the woods but from those that I know the experiences, though sometimes at an affordable rate (dealing with all the restrictions to avoid price hikes), were less than tolerable. Since Allegiant is new to the NJ area I thought I'd throw this out there incase anyone is looking for other option for low cost flights.

Also thanks for the info on the tri state headline! I've honestly never heard another tri state reference from other states. You learn something new everyday!:scratchin

we fly out of allentown instead of philly..(yuck).. and luv sanford.. its only another 20 min and if u offsite its easy without ME... cars r same just use a code..and allegiant is just ok,..we fly them gotta watch the prices change evry day or so..take a small bag that expands and if over 40 pounds take some stuff out..they usually vry understanding.. they were late couple hours and yes u wait for a new plane..
