Wilderness Lodge in March

Posted about this before but I've got some more questions... We're really loving the idea of a 2 bedroom at the Wilderness Lodge in March. I know that the construction won't be done by then but I was wondering how much of the big stuff will still be going on then, I'm hoping since they're set to open in 2017 it'll be more stuff like wiring or painting, quieter stuff rather than loud demo and cranes and such. Anyone know about what the status of the construction will be by then. Also is it possible to request a room either in the main building of the newly converted rooms away from it all or one without a construction view, I know they might not honor it but still.

I doubt it. What you are referring to as Wilderness Lodge is being renamed to Boulder Ridge Villas - that is the existing villas. The newly converted rooms and cabins are in a new DVC that will be called Copper Creek Villas. They are two separate resorts, so you can't request a room in one or the other, you will need to book the one you wish to stay at. Plus, I doubt Copper Creek will be open by then.

It's difficult to answer some of your questions because no one knows how the construction will be progressing - Disney isn't offering much specifics at all right now. We're going in January because I believe 2017 is an EXCELLENT time to time go. First of all, I agree most of the "loud, major and heavy" construction should already be completed by that time. Secondly, Wilderness Lodge should be exceptionally quite and peaceful since so many people are staying away because of all the construction fears and intimidations. And third, this may be a rare opportunity to have a spectacular view of Seven Seas Lagoon from your balcony! (Who know what the views will look like after all the construction is done.)

The one thing I can be fairly certain about is that you won't have a newly converted room within Wilderness Lodge itself. I sincerely doubt the new "Copper Creek" section of Wilderness Lodge will be anywhere near ready in March.

I think your March visit will be a Perfect time to enjoy the spectacular Wilderness Lodge - have a blast!

Best wishes,
Dave

Why push it, we don't plan on going back until everything is done plus one year. Disney is a very expensive vacation destination and having any major work being done at the resort isn't worth the money, especially when there are other resorts available.

Frankly, I doubt the pool will be done, and half the VWL rooms face that pool. My doubt is based on current state, and how long the Poly pool took.

I am thinking the same that the pool will not be done and we love our pool time so I think we will try for somewhere else at the 7 month mark.

Do you think that it will be done by End of May to early June. We want to stay there with our points next summer. Do you think we should wait one more year?

While no one can be sure until Disney makes announcements, I doubt Wilderness Lodge construction will be completed for the summer of 2017. From the limited info Disney has announced, my best guess is that Wilderness Lodge won't be back to 100% operational until some time during 2018.

Almost certainly, the work won't be done until 2018, and by most conjecture (and some comments reportedly said by construction workers), the pool will be the last thing to go in given it's the primary staging area for the rest of the build. That being said, even with all the heavier construction going on currently, the reports of noise are minimal. We were there in Feb and situated directly above the main construction area, and the impact was slight, almost not noticeable inside our room. Plus, they only work 9-5 (no weekends when we were there), so for most people, that's prime park time, anyway. The rest of the Lodge is still percolating just fine, and with low crowds due to half the main Lodge being not being open for guests, most reports say it's a wonderful time to see that resort. However, if you're opposed to any sort of construction and/or plan to spend lots of time in your room, then a reconsideration may be in order. If you want to go when almost everything is wrapped up, March 2018 is a much better bet (though I'm guessing they won't be done then, either).
