Super Shuttle tipping question

I'm going to be booking a Super Shuttle from Burbank Airport to Disneyland. When booking they leave a spot for tipping. They put in 18% gratuity and you can add/subtract from there. There will be two of us with two small bags.

I haven't taken a SS for years, but I'm also not thrilled to tip ahead of time in case there's bad service. And is 18% the new norm for shuttle driver tipping?

Any thoughts, suggestions, or what you have done would be most appreciated. Thank you!

I tipped ahead of time and was both glad and not glad.

I really dislike SuperShuttle, but on our recent trip I had no choice. Rental cars were sold out by the time I started looking, and my fave Karmel Shuttle was sold out as well, so the night before our early morning flight, SS was *it*.

I tipped when I booked. It was fine because once we got on the road he was a good driver, he drove with the traffic (vs a scary un-branded, random, shuttle driver from SNA the previous time who was falling asleep at the wheel and going 90 on highway flyovers), and he (woo!) dropped us off at our hotel FIRST. But the process of being picked up at LAX was soooooo boring. Took us forever to hit the road.

And hey, maybe he dropped us off first because he could see that we had tipped when we booked?

I honestly doubt whether you tipped or not has anything do with the order of drop off. I've tipped beforehand as well and still been last to be dropped off.

Was just a funny thought. That's all. :)

At least the driver wasn't on three separate cellular devices at once like the drivers have done in the past! He kept it to just one. Also never turned on the a/c (and this was a week ago and it was sooooooo hot). And we had to wait 25 minutes after we had done the online checkin thing between the time we got off the plane and got to the ladies at the pickup area at my terminal.

Ugh, that's really annoying. I hate it when they put a tip in for you automatically, especially for something like this. I always tip my shuttle driver like I tip a bellman, for helping with bags.
