Please help my decide between Royal Pacific and Portofino!

Not sure if you have kids or if it matters, but PBH beach pool has a great slide, RPR does not. My kids love pool slides and that's a big factor for us since we like our down time at the pool on those scorching August days.

But room fridges at PBH are mini bars and stocked so if you even open the door you get charged $5. You can rent an empty fridge for a fee.

The boats were great, never waited long, although we usually walked back. It about 10 minutes and just about all shaded so a nice pleasant walk.

Split stay is a great idea.

We have our first stay at pbh in November w a good code. I prefer hrh but $$ was significant.
I did not care for rpr, personal taste but I struggled w the food there. I don't eat any grains and my choices were very limited. The pool bar was not open since it was pretty chilly, that may have helped

I also despise moving resorts, I always feel homeless and like I lose a big chunk of time

Just got back today from PBH and we loved it. The theming was really amazing. We never waited more than 3-4 minutes for a boat, but we walked a few times and it is a nice walk (just not in the million degree heat, lol). The pools are great, and there are so many amenities in terms of restaurants and shops that you could go and never leave the resort. If you have a deal, take it!

I called yesterday for 23rd -28th- nothing available.

PBH and RPR are all booked now everytime I go to look there is nothing available. I have my room booked months ago so I am good I was just hoping to lower the price a bit but for $247.20 a night I can't really complain with what I have seen lately

Yup. My rep tried to quote me info Sapphire Falls but I told him I'm all set. I already have a great rate at RPR. I really wonder if there were rooms at PBH to begin with? I mean I'm sure they had a few to make the promo legit, but I got the feeling they really wanted to sell me SF.

I would have to agree with you. With 2 hotels booked for my week which is October 23rd - October 27th I wonder if they are going to give anymore codes out.

Nice idea.

We all have our favourites and no real right or wrong choice.......as you can see from our trip history we adore RPR......it has all we need for our stay. Restaurant choices suit us better than PBH as apart from Sal's we are not fans of those restaurants. Others may disagree of course........we love the pool area and general resort feel is just better for us. Definitely our home away from home.........regardless of price we would always choose to stay there.

Once you have stayed at both you will have a much better idea of what the hotels are all about.

Have you checked out the hotel stickies? They have info on most things to do with the hotels.

Boats are very regular.......it's rare you have to wait long even if you just miss one. We love the walk from RPR so it's no biggie if you miss one. We usually walk if going to IOA.....6 minutes. The walk is pleasant and shaded for the most part, and very short too. PBH is a slightly longer walk but it's hardly a hike. Takes about 15 minutes with a gentle stride. I don't have long legs......lol.....

I'm sure you'll enjoy both places.

I have been to both once. Here is my take on both. Both resorts are gorgeous with nice rooms. If I were going to enjoy the resort a little more than the parks, I would choose Portofino for the pool. The pool is nice and has a great water slide. Royal Pacific is equally as nice. I don't think it has a slide at the pool, but it has a huge spray ground. You also have the luxury of walking to the parks instead of the boat. I guess you could walk to Portofino too, but it is a hike.

You can't go wrong with either in my opinion. Both are great resorts.
