Is there a separate line for JTA in the morning? If I have a PPO breakfast, can I go to JTA first? How quickly are the spots filling up? If I don't have a PPO breakfast, and I just wait until I'm able to go in, how long in general will we be in line?

Thanks!

I can only answer part of this. We were there about a week ago, and did PPO breakfast. We signed up for JTA before breakfast (8:05 ADR)- walked right up with no wait. I have read posts here that this is subject to change, so not guaranteed, but all of the recent posts (in the past couple of months) have stated this was the case for them. Later in the morning (10am or so), I walked by and saw quite a line. Not sure how long it would actually take to get through that line, though.

Get a PPO breakfast if you can. We went just after park open during Spring Break, and by the time we made it into line, it was wait list only. A few weeks ago, we had an 8am H&V ADR, checked in and asked if we could sign up for Jedi. No prob - she directed us where to go, no one else there, had our pick of any time of the day. ☺️

We signed up for JTA at open. They let everyone in at 8:45am but held the crowds at ropes. There were signs sirecting people towards JTA. It took 10-15 minutes and we were done by the time they released the crowds.

Related question: if your kid is signed up for a specific time slot, how early do you need to be there and how long is the show? Just wondering how much time I should budget into my touring plan and what show to "aim" for.

If I remember correctly they want kids there with one adult 30 min before show. I'm not ot exactly when they give up your spot to standby.

Kids need to be there 30 minutes before. It was a disordered mess of a half hour when we were there, honestly. They kept trying to check kids in, asked for tickets from the kids about 3 separate times, and walked back and forth trying to figure out robes for the kids. Hopefully that was a 1-time fluke. A woman with 3 kids walked up about 15 minutes late and hurriedly shoved her kids into place. This was while they were trying to find more robes, so no CMs noticed. Not sure if they would have said anything or not. All other kids were there by 30 min before. The show lasts about 15 minutes I think, then they have to turn in robes, so allow about 5 minutes for that as well.

How long ago was this? Thank you!

When you say 'checked in' do you mean came through the gate or stopped at H&V first went over, then came back?

Also, do the kids need to be there at sign up?

They instruct you to report 30 minutes before the show. The show is about 20 minutes. I would budget an hour.

Stopped at H&V and checked in there, after having our Magic Bands first scanned at the gate. We arrived at the HS gates at about 7:40 for our 8:00 ADR, and were let in around 7:50. Checked in at H&V, walked to Jedi sign-up, and were back to wait another 5-10 minutes before they actually called our name. But I would definitely talk directly to the staff at H&V before walking to Jedi.

And yes, as picklethings said, your child does need to be present.

This is what we are planning to do. On another note, how was breakfast at Hollywood & Vine?

It's a typical character buffet meal. I've heard others complain that it's not that great, but we've honestly always enjoyed the meal. Granted, we've only done breakfast there, so I can't speak for any other meal, but no complaints here. The kids loved the interaction when they were little. DD10 has outgrown these characters, but it was fun watching other families. ☺️
