Hotel suggestions

After booking our trip for January 2017 to Aulani, my airline has informed me that the flight I booked is no longer available. The alternate flights available for the departure date we had booked did not work for us, so we leaving for Honolulu 1 day earlier than planned. Just wondering if there are any suggestions for a hotel for 1 night in or around the Honolulu area? We booked Aulani through Disney Resale, so adding 1 night to our reservation might be tough. Thanks for the help.

Well that's a bummer, but that's better then them cancelling it right before your trip. I liked the Hilton Hawaiian Village it's on the far end of Waikiki so traffic getting to and from it isn't too bad.

Hilton Hawaiian Village is very popular. Ilikai Hotel is also great and affordable. Hotels in Waikiki directly on Kalakaua Blvd "the strip" will be higher than hotels on Kuhio Ave. Depends on your budget. But some good hotels in Waikiki. I also know that there is a new hotel being developed in Kapolei. Might be finished by the time of your visit.

IN Waikiki especially if you need more space, check out the Embassy Suites---also includes the free breakfast. However, for just one night, might consider something a little more unique--Turtle Bay on the North Shore. Beautiful location, and gives you a chance to see a different side of Oahu.

This may not be what you are looking for but it is a less expensive option than Waikiki/Honolulu and is in the same area as Aulani. There is a new Hampton Inn by Hilton opening in the fall in the town of Kapolei which is 5 minutes from Aulani. If you sign up for the free Hilton Honors rewards program you can book this hotel with an advance rate of $140/night for 2 adults, 2 kids and that includes breakfast(I checked the flex rate and that is the price for all of January). I seriously wish this was going to be open when we are going in two weeks. We booked Hyatt place in Waikiki for two nights because our kids are older teens and love the buzz of Waikiki but it was still way more than this rate and I will be paying parking on top of that. Just an option, here is the link http://hamptoninn3.hilton.com/en/ho...nn-and-suites-oahu-kapolei-JRFHXHX/index.html

We stay at Hilton Hawaiian village every couple of years....it would be nice to stay at least one day in Waikiki and getting some of those sites in before heading north.

What is your budget for that night? How many people?

With a decent budget I'd go for the Royal Hawaiian. With a more modest budget I'd look at the Outrigger Reef or Outrigger Waikiki Beach.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'd like to keep the budget under $400 for the night. It'll be for 2 adults and 2 kids.

if you're not worried about being directly on the beach , the Embassy suites at Beach Walk is a nice hotel one block back. Free drinks and snacks at night and a big free full breakfast the next morning.

Start with the Royal Hawaiian, then the Outrigger Hotels, then the Hyatt Regency and Waikiki Marriott.

I tend to agree with GoBears. The Outrigger Waikiki is right on the beach, is priced well under your budget and has Dukes right in the lobby. The location is perfect, right in the middle of Waikiki. The Hilton Hawaiian Village is at the beginning of Waikiki and it is a bit more congested in that area then where the Outrigger is.

I would stay somewhere in the Waikiki area and take advantage of everything that's in walking distance around there for the night. We're spending 3 nights in Waikiki before moving to Aulani and are staying at the Waikiki Beach Marriott. I had planned on staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, but the Marriott is more centrally located, was a cheaper price point, and was much smaller than the Hilton. Since our time in Waikiki is limited, we didn't want a big resort and didn't care about the amenities like the pool, etc.
