Monorail to VWL

probably never going to happen, but I do agree it would be a huge feature. Just stayed at Poly last month, and even though we didn't use the monorail to go to parks, we did use it just to go explore the Grand Floridian and get a bite to eat. very convenient, especially in the florida summer when sometimes you just cant use a boat because of rain.

I love this thread. We have the fantastical idea of building a monorail to the new WL DVC and we already have construction budgets, possible alternative locations, a probable hike in the yet to be announced price of the new WL DVC, arguments for and against having it, and safety and environmental concerns already expressed. It is threads like these that make my day.

Sure, the photo from the monorail shows how close, which intrigued me until I realized that if WL is that close just in a general sense, if they ever wanted to do it, they already would have. I think the horse has left the barn on this one (gate? IDK how the saying goes, LOL).

But add this to the Great Big WDW Wish List!

I hear what you're saying but the experts fail too and recently they're failing by a thousand cuts. #thanksshanghai.

In any case, what a perfect opportunity for Disney to create another monorail resort and send the bill to DVC. It'll be another 25 yrs before such a golden opportunity comes around again.

I think Disney could make the case that adding a monorail is so foundational to the promotion and sell of new DVC points that it's a 100% VWL2 project and not shared between VWL1 and CRO.

I would buy that argument. DVC would sell VWL2 points higher with promoting it as a monorail. Higher enough to 100% justify the project as an adjunct of VWL2 sales.

Don't you kind of think that WDW management would actually prefer to not even have the monorails anymore? Too expensive on the bottom line to maintain and operate vs other transportation. Or at least by the state of the monorail system and monorail cars themselves it sure appears they want to spend as little money as possible on them.

Now if they could increase the price enough to pay for upgrades? Then they might jump but I tend to think they'd prefer to just try to sell it high and keep the extra profit.

You're absolutely right.

Not really commenting on what current management will do.

Instead, what they should do.

The monorail is iconic to WDW. Current leadership that view it as a cost laden liability are clueless as to what built their brand. And how to maintain it.

I was just at WDW. Stayed at Poly. MK Park to room at 11 pm closing: 22 minutes and didn't have to pull sleeping 3 yr old out of stroller.

Heck yes the monorail is worth the money.

We planned our whole trip around our split stay: Epcot and HS while at BCV, MK and AK while at Poly.

We wouldn't have bought Poly, at any price, without the monorail. I suspect that's not a minority report.

The monorail has too many stops now. If they want a monorail resort build it along the EPCOT run, there is miles of open space there.

All of the monorail stops are at the entrance to the resort ( lobby). This would not be so with VWL. Who wants to hike to a monorail station? The second monorail stop at the Poly( name escapes me) is a hike even though some taut how close it is to Pago Pago. If I can't get off at the lobby entrance I'd rather take a bus, or boat in VWL's case.

I agree with these posts the monorail just departs from CR and then it turns to go to WL, that seems crazy to me.

I would think it would make more sense to had a side walk and a pedestrian bridge over the canal so WL/VWL guests can walk over to CR.

I think there was a plan for another 7 seas resort between the Contemporary and TTC ... But then it was determined the ground was not suitable for affordable construction
