DIS/Dreams Unlimited China Adventure Oct 14th - 25th 2017 SOLD OUT!!!

I'm thinking that the Tokyo to Hong Kong route may need to be flown on a Japanese or Asian airline....now we may find that they are partners with Delta, United or American for example. Our son did a summer semester in Asia when he was in college and they flew United from Chicago to Tokyo. I like knowing that people are seriously looking at the Tokyo start since it seems a shame not to add this since we are going to be over there already. It would be great to coordinate hotel stays and then transfer to Hong Kong so that we can start the party early.

I've been thinking that I'd book an "open jaw" (as the airline industry calls it) from here to Tokyo outbound and then Shanghai to home. Then I'd find an inter-Asia flight separately from Tokyo to Hong Kong. Or at least that was my original thought. Now that Laurie has posted her research though, maybe I'm better off booking the whole thing on one itinerary would be better. Hmmm....

The whole airfare thing causes my brain to spin. I'll let Michael handle all that! lol. Starting to get really excited for this trip. Honestly, it will be here before we know it!

ABD family - do you realize that one year from today, we will all either be on our way to or already in Hong Kong????:yay::yay::yay::teeth::teeth::teeth: It's time for me to start thinking about this one!!!

I'm so glad that you reminded us of this. We also need to clarify the possible Tokyo pre trip such as who thinks that they will do it, what the logistics would be and if we can coerce our leaders into organizing some package that would provide everyone with the same arrangements so that we will have the same experience.

Just sayin

At this point, Linda and I are planning on the Tokyo pre-trip. Just know how many days we can do yet.

Wow, I hadn't realized that Laurie. Hoping that we will have been in Tokyo by this time next year.

Reading these last posts have cheered us up, as we are sat in Orlando airport waiting to fly back home after a great 3 week vacation.! Despite the hurricane!
We are planning on a pre Tokyo add on as well.

We're also planning on a Tokyo pre trip.

Brian and I are really pushing the bounds of my parents' generosity in watching the kids while we're on the trip as well as our available vacation time, so the Tokyo pre-trip will have to be short but we really don't want to skip it! If the airfare works out, I'm thinking maybe we'll fly out on Tuesday, which should put us in Tokyo Wednesday afternoon. Tokyo Thursday and Friday and fly into Hong Kong either overnight Friday (there seem to be alot of red eyes) or Saturday morning. It looks like the flight is around 3 1/2- 4 hours depending on which Tokyo airport you fly out of (looks like NRT is closer to Disneyland and a slightly longer flight). Tokyo is 1 hour ahead of Hong Kong.

Just FYI for people looking to do a Tokyo pretrip, Monday October 9 is a national holiday in Japan. I'm not sure how that impacts crowds in the parks or touring in Tokyo but thought I'd throw it out there.

Laurie

This is going to sound weird but because we have the same birthday we also apparently have the same mind. This is the exact plan that I had. I was looking at the days that Chuck and I had and this seemed like it would work. Since Monday is a holiday in Japan that may cause other members of the group to rethink when they would arrive there. I was leaning towards leaving for Hong Kong Saturday morning since our first gathering would be that night at dinner.

Chris

I'm very interested in joining for TDL. But I'll have to figure out the logistics to see if it works for me. I'm the odd person out...travelling from Vancouver, Canada. Might not be able to take advantage of all your good research and advice.

I've penciled in a Tokyo pre-trip into my plan--looking at the same dates as already mentioned above.

Michael would like to do the Tokyo pre-trip also. I would like to know more about how many days this pre-trip will be and also a rough estimate of the additional cost for this pre-trip.

Carol
It's a great day to be alive!

I was projecting arriving Tues afternoon and flying to HK early Saturday. Accommodations seem the biggest cost right now--3 day pass not bad.
