we have enough points to book a one way flight--so I was going to book one with points and the return with cash

that would be alittle over $250

then I saw you can buy points if your short

that would save money but how do I buy them do I have to buy mine and then go into DH account and buy his

it would be cheaper to buy together

what I have priced out is total fare for the 2 of us is 29704

of which I have 12943 hubby has 10469

I would need to buy 2000 points for a total of $65

hubby would need to buy 5000 for a total of 135

so if I can buy points for the 2 of us together it would be 178.75
but if I have to do it as 2 seprate transactions it would cost $195

it looks like Im alot better off buying the points instead of buying paying cash for one way
I can always hope the the $ goes down still if you book on points the points go back into your account is this correct

also I have a credit from our last trip that I would like to see if I can buy the extension on

is there a way I can find the confirmation # on line --do I need to call for the extenstion

sorry for all the questions but we never had enough points to get any kind of a free ticket

thanks for any help you can give me this is all so new to me

You do know you can buy flights for anyone using anybody's points. Your flight doesn't have to come from your account. I would dump all the purchased points in the account with the highest balance (and you can't split a purchase into 2 accounts anyway) and book as much of the trip from that account then use the points in the other account for whatever is left.

I luv my SWA rapid rewards, haven't paid for a flight in 5 years and currently have enough to bring DD home for thanksgiving, me down for her birthday and the extended family (7 of us) for my DGS' first WDW vacations next year!!

Also, extending a credit costs $100 so you need to decide if that is worth doing and you cannot combine points & a credit for payment.

If it were me, I'd get enough points to cover 2 one ways from your account, book a one way using hubby's account and pay OOP for the cheapest one.
