Character Dining w/no children -- Do you get weird/stranage looks from others?

Nope. Had an adult only late lunch at Tusker House two years ago, and we had a blast! Several of the tables around us were adults only. This year, also adult only, we have reservations for Garden Grill breakfast and Crystal Palace lunch...looking forward to it!

My DH and I ate at both Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace pre-children. There's nothing wrong with it - character meals are for people of all ages!

and how do your kids know this?

why would anyone look weird at you?

i don't go with kids every time i go and i still do character dining.

i don't believe anyone has looked weird at me for this.

most people are too wrapped up in their own vacation to notice.

We are doing our very first character meals this August and are super excited about it!!

We're two adults who do character meals and no one gave us weird looks. We did 4 character meals while we were there. At the character meals as far as I could tell everyone is there to see the characters and everyones having a good time on vacation and not looking at what other people are doing. The idea of Disney is it's a place both adults and children can have fun.

I have some people in my family too that find it strange I guess. I have an aunt who thinks it's immature to like "cartoon characters" as an adult, but A lot of people who haven't been there don't understand it's not silly or childish. I doubt you'd find people going to Disney that share her opinion.

Not at all! We are 40ish, no kids and I would like someone to try & stop me from seeing Tigger for breakfast! People are so wrapped up in their own vacations, no one probably notices anyways.

Don't give it a second thought. We were sat by a single gal at a character meal and I began chatting with her and offered to take pictures of her with the characters and never once did I think why is she here without children. Go enjoy! :)

We have a trip planned in November/December and we have a character breakfast planned.

I can't wait to see Pooh Bear and my husband is actually looking forward to seeing Alice. (Yes, we are going to 1900 Park Fare.)

Nope. Have done it at two separate vacations and have seen plenty of other people dining childless since. One time I did feel like we were getting skipped over at Chef Mickey's in favor of family tables but that was a long time ago and on this last vacation each character always visited every table.

DH and I have gone many times just the 2 of us, I never even thought about it not going or it being strange. You get the same interaction with or without children. Go and enjoy embrace your inner child... pixiedust:

We are going to WDW in Feb 2017 hubby and I. Our children are grown and grandbabies too little to take right now. We got the deluxe dining plan so we could do characters dinners/breakfasts. We (mainly me) really want to do some of the character dinners/breakfasts such as Cinderella's Table, Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey and Akershus Royal Banquet. Our kids keep telling me it will be weird for us go with no kids and folks will look at us strange with no kids. I say heck with it and do it anyway. I have always wanted to do the character dinners/breakfast and really want too. Do folks look down or weird at you if you are there with no kids?

NO!!!!!!!! Go and have a ball!!! I know that some of my favorite character interactions were sans kids. I hop into M&G lines, and enjoy character meals , and have been known to wave like a banshee at every character in a parade. (They wave back!!!!)

Lecture your kids on their poor observational skills and their bad habit of assuming things for which they can't provide evidence!. :joker: Walk into any character meal and you will find plenty of adults unaccompanied by pesky minors.

Exactly! My DGD is a teen now, but we had a few years when she was a Tween, and refused to be my reason for M&G lines. Good! I left her with he parents and found I did not need to share my precious M&G time with anyone! WIN WIN!!!

I'm too busy making sure my kids are eating and making sure we don't miss the characters to notice if people are there without kids. The one time I did notice, I overheard Snow White telling a couple how they needed to pose for a picture and I looked over to see what they were doing (and wished I was them)!

My wife and I (no kids) have been to Crystal Palace multiple times, Tusker House, Garden Grill and CRT and haven't even thought twice about it. If someone really were to give you strange looks I'd just feel bad for that person.

I also think that some of the characters enjoy interacting with adults-only tables to help break up the never-ending stream of kids they see. Once at Crystal Palace my wife was wearing a vampire-themed shirt that said "Bite Me" and Piglet came over, tilted his head to the side and pointed at his neck for my wife to bite him there. We've also had farmer Mickey at GG go by our table a couple of times, pick up a rogue tater tot, put it in his mouth and just walk away without eye contact. Honestly the character meals we've had have been some of the best experiences so definitely go and enjoy yourselves!

I'm an "adult" but that won't stop me from going to character meals :flower3: enjoy don't worry about others.

It won't be weird. You will be far from the only adults enjoying a character meal. I do them all the time with my 20 something nephew. For our trip in October we have The Garden Grill, Akershus, and The Crystal Palace booked. No one has every looked at us funny, and even if they did, that is their problem! Go and enjoy your character meals!!!!

We've been to many character meals without children. Remember we're all children once we enter the gates. Please go and enjoy your time.

Go for it! We also are grandparents that will be returning alone. We love the Food and Wine Festival. We feel a little weird waiting in line for pictures with the characters. But, who cares? We are growing old, not up! The character meals are such a great opportunity. Disney is for kids of all ages. Enjoy.

No crazy looks at chef mickeys or crystal palace. I don't know about Akershus or CRT, as I haven't been to those.

I am 62 as is my wife. We travel to WDW every year and we always go to Chef Mickeys, 1900 Park Fare and Crystal Palace. I especially love the interaction you get at 1900 PF becuase you can actually converse with the characters. For my 60th Birthday, I was treated to a solo parade around the Crystal Palace with Pooh and the entire gang. We have celebrated our last three anniversaries there and always received special treatment from the cast. I remember chiding Mickey for not marrying Minnie when he handed us a card and she gave him such a stare, foot tapping and finally a slug in the arm. It was great. Look at it this way, you decided to spend alot of money to vacation at Disney World. Let it go, enjoy the magic, cast away the shackles of adulthood and let the inner child out.

Adults go to Disney without kids all the time. DH and I honeymooned there, we did CRT, Hoop De Doo, and a few others I can't remember right now. To be completely honest, when I am at a character meal with my kids I am focused on them, getting them food, making sure they aren't going to burn the place down, they're not killing each other, etc. I couldn't care less who else is there and who they brought with them lol. In my opinion, anyone who is sitting around at Disney judging other people either needs to pay more attention to themselves, and presumably their kids since they are judging people for being there without kids, and isn't worth your time and worry. Have a great time at Disney!
