Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

My DH just gave to "ok" for even thinking about making reservations for BC for August 2017. It would be a 10 day trip. Super excited about the thought of staying at BC! He said we can make the res in January so it's before the 180 day mark. My question is should we reserve even sooner than that? Does BC get booked up fast? What's a safe time frame for getting a Garden view or Lagoon view room?

:welcome:

The resort runs pretty close to capacity during a lot of months of the year. Right now, a room can't be found at either YC or BC for October or November, for example. Not sure when or if the resort usually books up for August. Also, note, that it is possible some rooms at the YC may be out of service if the anticipated renovation is going on. Garden View has the fewest number of rooms, I think.

What I am trying to say is booking sooner rather than later is probably best. Disney is very good about allowing you to change or even cancel reservations without penalty for quite a long time, so for the most part it is no risk, just an outlay of money.

Here now. The marketplace still had mugs with handles when we got ours. Will update if I see that change while here.

Bus stops update: YC is still at convention center, BC is at its normal spot.

I took a picture of the toiletries available because I know some people wanted to know. But not sure how to upload from my phone?

:welcome: home.

The suspense is killing me... Did you get a king bed room???

Thank you so much for the live update of current affairs at the resort. I'm not sure that the picture of the toiletries is a rush so it can wait until you return from your trip. Or you can try to direct upload your picture, but it is probably too large. Not sure how to make it smaller. Or if you are able to and are comfortable doing so, you can email the picture to me at beachclubdee at yahoo.

Enjoy your special trip!

Has anyone heard of when renovations will start at YC? I'm planning a July trip for YC CL. But if the rooms are not renovated I would plan on BC CL. Having asked that, do they generally renovate the CL rooms first? Just trying to decide if I can plan YC or will I need to anticipate a BC stay? Thanks

:welcome: back!

Disney has not announced when the YC room renovations will start.

The Beach Club room renovation took about 10 months. So depending on when they start, there may be some work being done next July.

The past renovations of the BC and YC have all been done from the 5th (CL) floor first, then the work proceeded floor by floor ending on the ground floor. But the recent renovations at the BCV were done wing by wing. I'm not sure if that was something specific to the villas or if that is the new construction procedure.

As soon as we have reportable news, we will announce it here and post on Page 1.

As hiil6 stated, your check in day is day 1, so your Trash & Towel service will be Monday.
Extra towel packs are $6 each and include 4 bath towels, hand towels, face cloths and a bath mat. If you request extra toiletries you should be charged. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't.
On Trash & Towel day they empty the trash leave clean towels, replenish soap and toiletries and one coffee pack.
Have a Great Vacation

When we stayed at SSR in May I called and asked for dish soap as we didn't have any in the room. Came back to the soap, a bag full of toiletries and a full set of extra towels. No charge but pleasantly surprised at the extras.

The "cream" that they give
It is not Disney. Convention resorts have out-sourced companies that run the "office centers" in the convention centers. All packages are delivered there EXCEPT deliveries from the US Postal Service. Those are delivered to the actual resort and there is no charge for delivering ...that is Disney.

Is the Beach Club considered a convention hotel? Can I get a delivery to bell services there since I am staying there?

Question about SAB and the long water slide. Can you ride double on this? My son will be 6 but is very timid and tall. He will most likely love to ride, but only if mom or dad go with him the first or second time. I also have a 3 turning 4 year old on the trip and would need to ride with mom and dad. Is this allowed or no?

No we did not get a King. They said it wasn't on our requests and there wasn't one available our entire stay. :confused3 not sure what happened to the requests I called in...oh well. We are so exhausted by the end of the day, I don't think we will mind too much.

I am not sure about the BC but in all the slides my children have gone down in many different Disney resorts, I have never seen two people go down together. I do not believe they allow it. My son who doesn't swim, they let down with swimmies on and I could be at the bottom but I could not go down with him.

I figured, but thought I would ask. Maybe by the end of the trip he will brave enough to try if DH takes him to the top and I am at the bottom.

Well I decided to change my reservation from AKL CL (love it) to somewhere new and try YC CL Lagoon view after our cruise in Nov 2017. I chose it for location and the pool and more upscale adult feel to the resort, as well as we might catch the last few days of food and wine in 2017. I've stayed at the Beach Club CL in 2011 prior to renos but didn't "love" it. It was too busy and kind of sterile to me, not very friendly. I hope to like the YC better, I really like the nautical theme of the resort, it is so elegant. I don't see a ton of love for the YC, most people tend to pick BC. I'm Hoping it's mostly because of families -- have you stayed at YC and loved it?? Please give me your thoughts and reviews. Has anyone stayed Club Level at YC? I'd love to know how the offerings where and if the lounge was nice and welcoming? I am hoping I will love YC and not regret changing my reservation from AKL ☺️
Thanks for sharing your thouhts!

Yes, that's what we did. My older 2 children brought him up and I told him I would be waiting at the bottom and he was fine with that. You can wait to the side and then when you see him come down you can catch him. That's what I did and they never said anything about it.

OK, so here's an interesting question for y'all.
I burn easily, but hate wearing a ton of sunscreen, and wearing a hat all the time on vacation (I'm thinning a bit on top and at the temples). I'm thinking for our day or 2 touring the countries of Epcot of carrying a simple black Totes umbrella to block out the sun. My DP, (Some of you know JNPants), keeps rolling his eyes and saying, "Ugh..I have to walk around with the guy with the parasol."
Thoughts? Would you smirk to see a grown man blocking out the sun w/an umbrella in the middle of August?:confused3

We stayed CL at YC last year. It was really nice. I really liked having a balcony. I booked BC this year because the deal wasn't available at YC.

This is why I love these boards and continue researching every Disney trip we take, even though I'm somewhere over a dozen visits. Just when you think you know everything about Disney there is to know, you learn something new! Thanks for the info Scott, I found it really interesting!

I just added this image to SAB Post 2:

Sorry, it appears my answer was not entirely clear. The Yacht & Beach Club resort is considered a Convention resort. Yes, you will have the same delivery issues at the BC as the YC.

Packages delivered by USPS will go to Bell Services
Orders from Amazon Prime Now (new 2 hour delivery service) will go to Bell Services
Orders from grocery delivery services (Garden Grocer, We Go Shop and Turner drug I believe) will go to Bell Services

Anything else, including packages from Amazon Prime, Amazon Prime Pantry, Walmart.com or Staples.com, if sent by FedEx or UPS, will go to the YC Convention Center and will be subject to pick up charges and limited hours of operation.

:)

I don't believe this is allowed.

There is a small slide that goes into the kiddie pool that is just behind the stairs going up to the Jib Slide. That might be a good start for your son. If you haven't seen pictures of the kiddie pool, check them out. Post 3, I think.

That sucks! I'm sorry to hear that, I was hopeful for you.

Glad you are looking on the bright side.

I am very torn between my desire not to be judgmental, a let bygones be bygones attitude as long as it doesn't hurt anyone and my pledge of honesty:

Instead of saying I may already raise my eyebrows a bit to the adults I see with umbrellas in the parks, especially when they are not paying attention to where the umbrella is in crowded places, I'll comment that it looks like ones arm would get sore holding up an umbrella for a prolonged period of time.

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

My first stay at the YC will be in October so I can't offer any personal feedback about the resort, but lots of people who post here are big fans.

The lounge was recently remodeled, you can find some pictures in Post 12, along with some photos of the food offerings there. I probably need to get some updated pictures of the food & drink, though.

:)

We've stayed at the YC twice, once in a garden view room, and once in a standard view club level room. Really enjoyed CL this past June. It was our first CL experience. The food offerings were great. Only difficulty was trying to figure out the Nespresso machine on the first day.

Our SV room overlooked the fountain in the front near the conference center. We liked it more than the last water view room we had a BC which overlooked Stormalong Bay. in that room, we were over the Cape May Buffet and learned they use leaf blowers around 6:30 to clean SAB :-(

Here's a brief write-up I did after we returned: http://www.disboards.com/threads/di...-and-questions.3414590/page-258#post-56007197.

We love the Yacht Club and find the lobby to be more peaceful and relaxing. Love the full balcony guarantee. Didn't stay club level this time but have done so at both YC and BC and have found the staff to be pleasant and food offering to be pretty much the same at either resort :)

Hi Scott, as someone whose skin is so pale it reflects the sun onto others and as a mum whose chief job every morning (while in Florida - in Ireland not so much :rotfl:) for the last 20 odd years has been to chase children around a room making sure they have adequate sunscreen in place so they don't burn (and thus guilt me out) I will say that while I wouldn't smirk at a grown man carrying an umbrella but (and it's a big joyful but) I have found the aerosol sunscreens to be brilliant :) . They are so light on the skin and the easiest thing ever to apply. Even my youngest, who had to have prescription suncream as others irritated his skin, was able to use the factor 30 coppertone sport one which is sold in the BC marketplace at around $13 a bottle :)

I live in a suburb that's probably 90% (maybe more) Asian families, and EVERYONE either wears a full face sun visor or carries a sun umbrella all summer, and often during sunny days in the winter too. I wouldn't even blink to see someone doing that at Disney. There are a lot stranger things going on. Although, I'd be tempted to find a wild Disney-themed umbrella rather than a plain black one...if you're gonna go, go big, as the saying goes...
