~~ They're leaving the nest, sew it's time for a trip - or two - or three...~~ D~'s bag ~9/22 ~~

I wish I was half as productive as you are! Maybe when my girls are older, I'll be able to get as much done as you do :)

I can not wait to see the finished product in your dining room! Did Josh give you permission for the coral color or did you decide to just ask for forgiveness after the fact? :rolleyes1 I know the dining room is going to be great.

We had a busy weekend planned, but it didn't work out the way we thought it would. We went to my parents' house to swim and visit on Saturday. Then, very early yesterday morning, Peyton work up not feeling well. We were at the doctor's yesterday and her strep test was very quickly positive so we had to cancel the rest of the day's plans and find someone to stay with her today since she can't go back to camp yet. My mother in law is with the girls now so that Bennie and I can work today. Wednesday night we are meeting my parents for dinner and then they are keeping the girls until Saturday. My mom kept asking what we'd do with all that time to ourselves and the honest answer is sleep! Charlotte is still not comfortable falling asleep in her room by herself so I lay with her until she falls asleep. The problem is, half of the time she outlasts me and I end up spending half of the night sharing a twin sized bed with a 4 year old. I'm a wimp when it comes to sleep, and the broken sleep I get switching between bedrooms is taking it's toll. I'm hopeful that when she starts VPK next month it will get easier for us.

I ended up not needing a crown after all. My best friend's husband is a dentist so he had offered to do my crown at his cost. When I went to see him on Thursday for the crown, he did an exam and said he didn't see anything that needed to be done at all. And, he said a crown wouldn't be the right solution for the tooth in question anyway. This isn't the first time that I've felt like my primary dentist has recommended procedures just for his profit so we will be switching to my friend's husband as our new dentist. It will be nice to have someone I trust.

Hope you have a great short shift at Target today! If I can get enough done, I may make today a short day for me so my mother in law can get home.

D I am so in love with how your home is turning out! SO different from when we were there!

So happy your able to get this all done! YAY for A making friends with such a cutie pie! HA HA!

I knew about your flights and stuff but want you to know i am still a loyal reader!!!

Sounds like Josh and V had a great time tubing down the local river.

Sounds like you and V have a lot of movie watching until your trip in October. The whole Harry Potter series a lone takes a lot of hours to watch. Add many Disney movies and it sounds like you have your hands full until your trip in October :)

I heard on the news that it's really hot weather in the USA at the moment. How warm is it in Minnesota now?

I hope you have a great short shift at Target today :)

NAV called about my new car today. They are ready for me to try the car on 24th August. It's a bummer that it won't happen until 24th August, but at least things are starting to happen now.

I am loving how your table/ chairs and benches look.
We spent part of yesterday hanging crown molding in Syd's room. It was kind of funny. We had tried to do it last week. DH bought a special crown molding box which was supposed to make it easier but the molding would move so the cuts would be uneven. Plus we found out after the wall we started with is screwed up. We had to go get what we thought was only one piece of molding to finish the room. We remeasured the room. Figured out what we need, and started to see what we had and which board to cut. Somehow instead of the 13 foot 4 inch wall that i thought we were doing, i did the almost 12 foot wall measurement. Of course when we got upstairs the board was too short. We had already nailed it to the wall ( which was partly when we realized that wall is screwy), if we hadn't nailed it in we could have just used it for the 12 foot wall and been okay. we did half the room, then pieced 3 pieces together for the other big wall. We had to glue the little piece to one of the others to make sure the seam is okay. Depending on how it looks, we are either going to back to exchange the 8 foot for a 12 foot, or getting a 12 and a 16.

Then we have to paint all the molding and trim. Arrange the furniture, figure out the best solution for the closet. It is a 2 feet wide and deep closet with a 24 inch door. So not small but hard to use.

You've been busy! I'm excited about the hutch...fingers crossed that you find the perfect one soon. I can't wait to see how the table and chairs turn out all together.

I didn't know that you could get refunds with SW if the fare went down...that's definitely good to know.

Looks like Allison is having so much fun! Good for her! I would choose Paris over DLP, too. I'm so jealous -- Paris is on my bucket list.

We went and saw Finding Dory this weekend, too -- loved it! Even my husband enjoyed it, and he isn't usually the biggest fan of animated movies. I thought it was very well done and, as my 17 year old says, "it got me in all the feels." LOL

My trip with my sister and daughter is coming up quickly...the decals I ordered for our magic bands came over the weekend so those are now done and ready to go. I've got our MDE luggage tags... I'm still stalking MDE for a Frozen FP+. If we can't get one then we'll ride stand by. I'm willing to miss it but my daughter really wants to ride it so we'll see how that goes. I'm surprised the parks are closing so early (10 pm most nights) while we're there...it's August and still summer. I guess it's because attendance is supposedly down.....? I have a friend who just got back from WDW last night and she said the crowds were definitely lighter than on many of their previous July trips.

I hope so too - I am really looking forward to having this space done.

I knew it - I'd just never done it. And this time, I was able to get a cash refund... I am not sure if it was because I had just booked it? Or if I will always get the option for a cash refund? I thought most people got refunds in the form of a "voucher" for flying at a later date... I am really unsure, as I've never done this. LOL

She is having a lot of fun... And just being with family is so good for her. She is quite home sick though... I wonder, when she comes home, if she will have an opinion on whether her trip should have been shorter/longer? :scratchin I am very curious to hear.

I did enjoy Finding Dory very much - V went to see it again the next day with her bff.

Yay!!! So exciting! You will have such a wonderful time! I can't wait to hear all about it! This is the best time in trip planning - just the excitement! I love it!

I really hope that attendance is low... Hopefully Disney re-evaluates their greedyness soon... People will speak with their wallets, and maybe then they will listen? It's a great place - don't get me wrong, I love it - but people only have so much $$ to spend on vacations. :scratchin

Hahaha... I sure don't feel very productive. It seems that every time I cross something off my list, 2 more things pop up to replace it. One day, maybe I'll catch up? LOL

Nope - no permission yet... I haven't even broached the subject... I figure I will wait until I am ready to paint... I think he is on "house decorating overload" at the moment - and I fear that will push him over the edge. ::yes::

Awww... I hope Peyton is feeling better by now... And the rest of you were able to get some sleep. I must admit, I never did have that problem with the girls... V tried it - but I just insisted that she sleep on her own. When the girls were little, they shared a room, so she was never really alone. Hopefully you can all get some good sleep soon. :lovestruc

Yes - I totally worry about that with dentists and with mechanics! It's such a legitimate concern. So glad you were able to get a second opinion, and I think it's a very wise idea to switch dentists. :thumbsup2

Good luck - I hope it went well. ::yes::

Thank you - it's getting there... Still a long ways to go... We are still hoping to finish the bathroom this year, and maybe even start on building the garage? :scratchin We'll see... A lot has to fall into place for that to happen.

Hahaha... Yes - she is so happy that Lara is finally warming up to her. :lovestruc

Thank you... I am trying to be a loyal reader too - but it's not going so well for me. :( Just trying to get through this week... But I feel like I say that all the time. I am sorry... Yours is the first place I go, when I get the chance. :lovestruc

She did. :lovestruc

I know - right? LOL We have plenty of movies to keep us busy for a while. ::yes::

It wasn't too bad.

It's been really, really hot for a few days - but it seems to be cooling down a bit. We still have the air on in our house though.

Yay to hear that they have a date for your car - bummer that it's still weeks away yet. I know you must be getting anxious... I hope your current car is holding up OK?

I am loving how your table/ chairs and benches look.

THank you - I am very happy with it! Now that I have the bench in here - it really opens up the room a lot, as the chair backs aren't there to "divide" the space - if that makes any sense?

Oh no - that is a bummer! I sure hope you are able to figure it out and it doesn't cost too much extra. Trim is so important! Hopefully you are able to get it done and figured out soon. :) I'd love to see pics! :lovestruc

Trying to write fast this morning - our internet will be down for "maintenance" all day... Which is probably a good thing, considering that we have been having more and more outages lately.

I had a good and quick shift at Target yesterday...

Then I came home and worked all day... I was able to get a lot done. I just have a bit left to do today and this project is FINISHED! :woohoo: I cannot wait to just be able to breathe, with out feeling guilty about not working.

Last night, I was able to put the last coat of poly on the chairs... I think they will finally be ready to move back into the kitchen tonight. :woohoo: I am looking forward to seeing them in this space... These chairs are much smaller than our other dining room chairs - so I really think it will alleviate some of the crowding in this room. Then - all that will be left to do is the China cabinet - I cannot wait!

I received a text from Cindy the other day... Awwwwh... Really made me miss my Disney friends... Cannot wait to see these amazing people again! :lovestruc

And then, my favorite picture of Allison from yesterday... I think she has a new friend. :lovestruc

Today... I will be heavy lifting shortly. Eating is still going well - although yesterday wasn't the greatest - not because I ate too much, but because I ate too little - that's not good for me either. I've just been working so much - I didn't have time to eat yesterday, hopefully today will be better.

I will be working hard all day to finish up upstairs... And then I have some errands to run this afternoon.

OK, I better run - I hope you all have a great day! Sending pixie dust to all of you! :lovestruc

That's great that you were able to get cash. The last few times we got southwest credit for the price of the flight dropping, it was in the form of a travel voucher. Each voucher had to be used in a year from the date the flight was purchased originally and by the person whose name is on it. Which with 4 people can be confusing and result in multiple confirmation numbers.
I love flying southwest. It leaves for the local little airport instead of going to JFK or Laguardia. But we usually go with who ever is cheaper. When we fly southwest, my MIL drives us to the airport so we don't have to pay for parking.

You will figure out what you need to eat. I can't stand tracking and sometimes it drives me nuts when DH tracks his food. He takes soo long weighing and measuring everything, that we are almost done eating before he starts.

This evening we are doing a 3.5 mile walk for charity. Have to figure out which sneakers is the best for a long walk.

Knock on wood. My old car is stilling holding up even if the lock on the doors has started to quarrel. So I'm crossing my fingers that nothing gets broken now on the car until I get the new one.

Busy, Busy, Busy!! I went to work all day Saturday and I think you STILL had a busier weekend than me!! :)

Awesome job getting a refund from SW already. I bet there will be a few more dollars to be had. Keep watching!!

Love the pictures of Allison with the baby...seriously melt your heart cute!

Love SW! I had a refund credit coming and just used it on airfare to AZ for this coming Feb. Pd $165 RT with the refund for both me and DH. Sweet! Hope your daughter gets past the homesickness and can thoroughly enjoy the rest of her time. Your home remodeling work looks so good - I feel very lazy but I'm starting to gear up!

We have been offered a choice between a travel credit or a cash refund, too. That is new for SWA. I took the cash refund on one of the tickets but haven't actually received that money yet. They are never in a hurry to give cash back, though.

Our daughter and her family were here for a long weekend. We did some typical tourist things in Chicago yesterday like going to the Sky Deck in Willis Tower and riding the boats on the Chicago River to Navy Pier. It was a lot of fun and the weather was nice, too.

Well - it sounds like it may be a long while before I see my $16... Hopefully I have it in time for the trip? :scratchin I bet that does get confusing? How do the vouchers work? Are they just attached to your rewards account? Or do they send you a paper voucher and you enter it in like a promo code?

I totally agree - I love flying out of our little airport too... The only 2 airlines that fly out of that one are SW and Sun Country - and I enjoy flying both, for different reasons. ::yes:: So, those are my 2 go-to airlines... But I am honestly loyal to who ever is cheapest. ::yes:: And figuring in baggage fees, it's almost always SW.

Yesterday was a terrible food day too... I need to dedicate some time to serious meal prep, but that is not going to happen until after this week is over... So, I am just doing the best I can - and logging everything.

Oh fun!!! I hope it went well! It's not often that they do those walks on Mondays is it? Which shoes did you pick? LOL <------ I love shoes!

I can imagine that it will be very nice with som vacation

Yes - I am pretty sure I won't know what to do with myself though. LOL

Me too, but it will probably be a while... Not only do I have to find one, but then I have to paint it. ::yes::

I sure hope it hangs in there, just a little while longer! Fingers crossed for you!

Such a sweet picture of V!!! Love it lots!

Hehehehe... If it was yesterday's picture - I was Allison holding Lara... but still a sweet picture regardless of which child it was. :lovestruc Nothing better than sleeping babies on your shoulder.

Busy, Busy, Busy!! I went to work all day Saturday and I think you STILL had a busier weekend than me!! :)

Hahaha... I am looking forward to doing nothing very soon here, and just really concentrating on my health again - I don't feel like I've gotten off the beaten path too badly - but it still hasn't been a focus and it shows. And I am still hoping to start running again too - I've been missing it lately.

I sure hope so... I'd love to get these flights cheap - but they haven't budged in almost a week now.

I Know - so sweet... Wish I was able to hold little Lara too. :lovestruc

That is awesome! I would love to know how this works... Does it automatically show up when you are logged in with your rewards? Or is it a paper voucher they send to you and you add it like a coupon code?

Thank you - me too... We are all a little worried about her. She has some great and fun things coming up - but not for a bit yet... Hopefully she can get past this. :lovestruc I can't imagine how hard it is for her to be so far from home... I know our skype calls help - but it's still not the same.

Thanks... We are almost done with the kitchen area... Just a bit of decorating to do yet and the hutch - but I have no idea when the hutch will happen, I still need to find one. ::yes::

Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend Sue! :lovestruc

Have you started on your kitchen remodel yet? I"d love to hear about it, if you have. ::yes::

*******************************************************************************************************

Yesterday went well...

I did my heavy lifting yesterday - it feels good to be back at it for the 2nd week in a row... It's been a while since I've been able to be that dedicated - which is sad. I am still dialed off of my previous lifting weights, but I plan to start adding back in next week. Hopefully it won't take me long to build back what I've lost. Eating has been "meh" at best... I am staying under my calories, but I have not had any time for decent meal prep, so my choices haven't been optimal. Next week is my week to truly be dedicated again... Work is back to normal... Family life is back to normal... And I will have the time to do everything I should be doing to take care of myself. I continually have to remind myself that this is a journey - there is no end date - it's me continuing to struggle (even just through life) and there will be ups and downs... So, here's to a new day, again.

I worked upstairs all day, and I was able to finish everything I needed to. As some of you may have seen, yesterday was my "deadline day" - and I finished, so it was just a huge sigh of relief to have everything done... Now to just get through the rest of this week. Then work slows down too - which will be really nice. Again - I have no idea what I will do with myself? :scratchin

Victoria and I ran errands yesterday - I couldn't put these off any longer.

Then I had my meeting last night.

When we came home, I moved the newly painted chairs and bench into their permanent locations, I am pretty happy with how they all turned out! I love that this table fits so much better in our space... The other one was always so huge and bulky - it made me feel claustrophobic. And having the bench there, rather than the chair backs, makes it feel even more open. :lovestruc

20160726_202340.jpg

Today... Well, it was supposed to be a full-on work day for me, but sadly it's not turning out that way... I received a text from Allison yesterday, she requested a care package... Well, Myrthe's mom flies back this week - so I quick grabbed her what she needed and I am meeting up with Machteld for one last time today, so I can hand off Allison's requests. Thankfully they are small - so hopefully it won't create too much of a problem in her luggage. ::yes::

I will try to come home and get some work done, but sadly the only time she can meet is right in the middle of the day... So, I am not sure if I will get much done... I may have to change my schedule a little bit and work tonight after dinner instead? ::yes:: Weird for me, I know, but sometimes I just have to do it, as there is no one else here who can do it for me.

Otherwise not too much else new... I added one more ADR to our trip - and I am debating on a few others... ::yes:: I added a Kona breakfast to our last day - since our flight isn't until later in the day, we can check out of the hotel at our leisure, and go have breakfast. Even though Kona wasn't a restaurant that Allison and I enjoyed, V's absolute favorite cookies are macadamia nut... So, I think she may enjoy those pancakes? We'll give it another try. ::yes::

I am also trying to build outfits in my head... As usual - time and $$ dictates that I need to use all of my previous trip stuff over again - which is fine with me... When I make and order items, it's with the intention of getting my $$ worth out of them... So, I make and order quality. As of now, my only new outfit will be my halloween themed outfit, but I may be able to get a couple wears out of it this trip? :scratchin

Alrighty - I hope you all have a wonderful day!! Sending pixie dust out to all of you!

D~

Have you started on your kitchen remodel yet? I"d love to hear about it, if you have. ::yes::
I don't know if I mentioned that we are using a general contractor for the job, so all we need to do is pick out stuff and make decisions - and pay them, too. ;) The new kitchen will be laid out pretty much the same except that the refrigerator gets moved to the far left instead of the middle of the wall, which will give me a lot of nice open space. And we bought a stove instead of having a cook top built into the counter and a wall oven. The refrigerator will be where the wall oven was. This gets me out of a crowded corner, too, and I'll have work space to the left of the stove, something I don't have now. We are also remodeling the bathroom that is adjacent to the kitchen. The architect has the plans right now and then the design has to be permitted. We were told that the permits can take anywhere from 4 to 12 weeks after the architects are finished, so nothing is going to happen until September at the earliest. :( If the permitting takes a really long time then we will have to hold off the remodel until after Christmas.

I love that this table fits so much better in our space... The other one was always so huge and bulky - it made me feel claustrophobic. There should be some really great sales on summer clothes that might help perk up your Disney wardrobe. I had gotten a few things on sale for our June trip and it was nice to have new clothes for the pictures. :)

The chairs , bench and table look great. I must say that you were busier than me and I've been working all week. My son-in-law's on vacation this week and I'm covering for him.
Sorry that Allison is homesick but it's good that she's with family. that picture of Lara and her is so cute.
It's been so hot around here that I haven't done much besides go to work and the a/c hasn't been working well there. We're supposed to go to Erie on Sunday if it cools down a little. There is a nice little zoo there and we like to hike around Presque Isle.
Have a good day.

I hope Myrthe's mom has room for the things Allison wants.

Crossing my fingers that breakfast at Kona will be better than the last time you tried it.

I love that this table fits so much better in our space... The other one was always so huge and bulky - it made me feel claustrophobic. And having the bench there, rather than the chair backs, makes it feel even more open.
The table looks great. It is perfect in that space

Oh fun!!! I hope it went well! It's not often that they do those walks on Mondays is it? Which shoes did you pick? LOL <------ I love shoes!
I went with my really old running sneakers. These sneakers are beyond their last leg. :( I have not found a new pair that I like. We did get a coupon for 20% off at a running store, so I might go in and get fitted for a new pair. I like running but DH hates it. Since we usually workout together, I don't get to run ( and by running I mean run/ walking). I'm a little upset with myself. A few years ago I did a 10K in 1 hour 11 minutes. Last night walk took 1 hour and 6 minutes. I did have to totally slow down at the end to stay with DH. He got a huge blister on the bottom of his foot and it really hurt him to walk.

How do the vouchers work? Are they just attached to your rewards account? Or do they send you a paper voucher and you enter it in like a promo code?
I'm not sure since DH is the one who always books the flights. Sorry.

. We were told that the permits can take anywhere from 4 to 12 weeks after the architects are finished, so nothing is going to happen until September at the earliest. :( If the permitting takes a really long time then we will have to hold off the remodel until after Christmas.
That reminds me of my renovations. When we hired the contractor, he said we would be done by Labour day. We didn't get started till the mid to end of october because of waiting for the permits.

Umm Yeah you know what i meant when i was talking about sleeping babies! Hey why would i get your kids names right when i don't even get mine right? LOL

I totally understand the in the middle of the day events which screw up your whole day! can't start anything in fear of not getting it done in time. Then when you get home you have no energy to even start it up!

Have a great day! glad your getting Allison's care package to her!

Hey D. For some reason I am not getting notifications on your report.. BOO! I love how the table and chairs come out! They look so nice. All those pictures with A are adorable!! Glad she is still having a blast! I considered Kona for this coming trip, but we opted for Ohana breakfast since we haven't done that yet!

The chairs and bench look great!

I often get frustrated by days that end up being thrown off and not going according to plan. Life is so busy that I really need things to go according to plan! LOL I ended up having to be out of town for one day (overnight Monday and all day yesterday) for work -- got home late last night, so that has thrown my week off. My older daughter (the one going on the trip with me next month, she is away at college) called this morning and she is sick, and my younger daughter had a lot of drama at her job yesterday, so last night and this morning have been emotionally draining, on top of the fatigue from travel. Oh well -- such is life!

I'm looking forward to trying Kona Café. Depending on how I'm feeling I may end up eating just grits and fruit, or something bland and easy like that....but I'm hoping to be able to try the Tonga Toast. We shall see.....
