Need ideas on preparing food at the Villas.

The villas have a kitchen to prepare food! Although, the resort grocery store doesn't have very many options. What do you prepare for snacks and possible dinner or breakfast?
Curious on your ideas.

For example, I would like a cheese platter with wine. Do they have stuff like that?
I also like olives on my platter.

I have never done this, as I have not stayed at a villa, but:
I've heard of a lot of people using Garden Grocer to have some groceries delivered. Another option is to take a cab or Uber to a grocery store on your first day and stock up. Or use Amazon's grocery service.
I think any of those options would be more cost effective and offer more variety than the resort gift shop.

Perhaps some cereal and milk, maybe things like Pop Tarts and English muffins for breakfast. Or microwaveable breakfast sandwiches. Some bread and lunch meat and cheese for a quick lunch/snack. Chips, microwave popcorn, etc?

For dinners you could get hot dogs and buns (easy to microwave/heat up), pre made cold salads and slaws, fresh fruit platters, pasta sauce and noodles, sloppy joe fixings, etc.
Things that don't require a lot of prep work/time/clean up. That way you can get dinner on the table quickly without spending too much vacation time in the kitchen.

We do not "cook" much in our Villa. But we do do a light breakfast and snacks. We order from Garden Grocer.com.
I order: Breakfast food, fruit, juice, coffee, soda, water, beer, wine, cheese & crackers & other snacks.
Having breakfast in saves us money. As does carrying water into the parks rather than paying Disney prices. Having "adult" beverages & snacks for breaks & evenings is wonderful.

Why not order the groceries you want ( including your wine) from a delivery service? Garden Grocer is one. WeGoShop is another.

Sounds great! How do they get delivered to the room? What do I have to know?

The DVC resort stores have a decent food area. Don't know about olives though! I don't cook at WDW but do stock fridge with breakfast stuff. Bagels, yogurt, juice, cheese, sometimes cold cuts, milk & cereal.
Just having breakfast in the room saves quite a bit, plus my wine :-). Also buy snacks like Chips & dip. Fruit.
We stay in Ft Lauderdale first, and being on vacay I don't want to cook much so I buy easy things for dinner, a roast chicken at deli dept, bag salad, cottage cheese, burger meat, fish. Easy things that don't take a lot of prep.

We also use Garden Grocer!! We get stuff for sandwiches, chips/dips, fruit, bagged salads, frozen pizza, hot dogs, bagels, eggs, bacon, drinks, coffee, and portable snacks for the parks.

We plan on eating breakfast and lunch in our villa most days. We hit the parks at rope drop and come back around 12:30 for lunch at the pool. I bring a collapsible cooler with ice packs with our lunch to the pool. We also like the individual alcoholic freezable drinks for fancy drinks by the pool!

I bring paper plates, ziplock bags, plastic silverware and plastic cups from home to keep cleanup easy. My kids favorite night is when we eat dinner in and go get ice cream and swim in the dark!

We order from Wegoshop, just put an order in yesterday as a matter of fact. We pretty much plan to eat like we do at home and eat most meals in the room or pack sandwiches to eat in the parks for lunch. Cereal, eggs, bacon, french toast, pancakes for breakfast. Mostly sandwiches and leftovers for lunch. For dinners this next trip we have chicken Caesar salad, burgers/hot dogs, shrimp scampi, spaghetti, and salmon planned. We also ordered stuff for snacks and we are bringing homemade rice crispy treats, cookies, and my mom is baking a cake.

We find it easier, faster, and more cost effective to cook our meals in the room. It's not for everyone but we like it. Saves time in restaurants, we can eat what we want when we want it without worrying about ADR's, etc. We can be sure to have things the kids like and reasonably healthy options, etc. We figure getting the 2 bedroom villa is quite a bit more for the room but we save a TON on food eating in the room so it doesn't end up costing much and we get a nicer resort than we would if we stayed in a moderate and ate out every meal.

We order from Garden Grocer every trip and schedule delivery for our arrival day. We haven't stayed in a villa, so haven't have a full kitchen (just a small fridge), but still order: snacks (chips, veggies, dips, cheese, crackers, nuts, fruit), breakfast items (cereal and milk, yogurt, muffins, more fruit), and sammich makings (bread, lunchmeat, cheese, lettuce). OH, and we order wine and beer from GG :). (I don't order condiments from GG, I bring small packs of mayo and mustard from home (I save extras of these when we get takeout subs throughout the year.)

Now, given our experience eating breakfast, snacks, and the occasional sandwich in our room, if I had a villa...I'd order the same items PLUS a few heavier/microwavable snacks (for my boys who eat eat eat) and items to make a big meal one or two days. So, snacks: frozen pizza; tortilla wraps and shredded cheese (and sour cream) for my oldest, who LOVES to make his own quesadillas in a microwave or on a stovetop; ramen noodles. Given I had a full kitchen in a villa, I'd order eggs, bacon, pre-made biscuits, and pancake mix as well (good for breakfast AND breakfast for dinner). Plus a few boxes of pasta, some sauce, and parm for a quick, easy filling lunch or dinner. Salad mix with dressing. Probably a pack of hot dogs, buns, and canned chili as well.

So, basically, don't rely on the resort grocery. Order online ahead of time, because you'll save money and have greater selection. Plus, bell services will hold your grocery order for you until you arrive (and will keep cold items cold for you!)

Are you driving? If so I would bring a crockpot with crockpot liners for dinner. I'm assuming though you are flying based on comments of having food delivered.

But I agree with a rotisserie chicken, bagged salad, perhaps a Stoffers style lasagna that could be microwaved, lunch meat and rolls for sandwiches.
Breakfast is easy with oatmeal, granola, Greek yogurts.

Snacks - chips, hummus, crudites, shrimp and cocktail sauce, antipasta

Breakfast - microwave oatmeal cups, bagels with cream cheese, English muffins, yogurt, juice, coffee and tea, melons and berries

Lunch - sandwiches, soup (if it's cold outside), bagged salads that have everything included, fresh fruit

Dinner - pasta, rotisserie chicken with frozen veggie/rice combo on the side, burgers and hot dogs on the grill (yes, DVC resorts have grills for your use!)

We have only ever used the kitchen for breakfast, some lunches and light snacks. We are huge fans of the dining plan though and without it, would likely have ordered more in through a grocery service. We always find everything we need in the resort store-fruit,wine, beer, cheese, bread, luncheon meats, butter, eggs, pancakes, syrup, frozen pizzas, burgers, dogs and buns. When I did a price comparison when I got home, I believe I spent about $10 more than I might have ordering in but I saved a $14 delivery fee

We stock up on sandwich fixings, drinks, snacks, breakfast choices and adult beverages... by grocery store if we have a car or delivery if not.

So for lunches or dinners we might do these

Sub Sandwiches with chips
Hot dogs/hamburgers on the outside grill with deli salads.
Pasta, salad, bread
Quesadillas made in a pan with fresh vegetables (if we can find a small container of oil rather than buy a big one!)
Take 'n Bake Pizza and add toppings of our liking

Or just run to Earl of Sandwich, haha

I love using my crockpot! Unfortunately, we are not driving though. No car rental either.

I think places should include crock pots in their rooms, I mean if they are providing a microwave a crockpot could also be provided. If not in every room but a few available on request.
