Hi

Just wondering if anyone has used Luxurious Rentals for delivery/setup of a Motorhome/5th wheel at the fort (or elsewhere for that matter)?
If you did, what were your impressions?

We have used another rental company on 2 previous occasions for Fort Wilderness delivery/setup and will not use them again.

I searched the boards for this company and the only thread I could find mentioned they were an approved vendor by Walt Disney World.

Thanks,
Paul

Hey Paul,

Can't say i can recall hearing them mentioned in the past and I have no prior experience renting as I bring my own.

Hopefully someone will be along but at least by me posting it'll bump your post back up to the top.

I too bring my own, but I was kind of curious to see if anyone has any input on it. I know Greenberg has been mentioned a lot here with some mixed reviews, but mostly good.

It looks like the site you are looking at is definitely more focused on the higher end (hence their name Luxurious Rentals) where companies like Greenberg are focused more on Good RVs to meet the need. (Not sure if this is the one you used in the past either).

I suppose much of it revolves around what your expectations are. Many folks just want a place to lay their head and have a meal, while others want the full camping experience, still others want a mobile version of all the comforts of home (Glamping?).

They (Luxurious Rentals) are BBB Accredited since March of 2011 and seem to have a good record there (1 complaint about a credit card surcharge) but it was resolved. Online reviews I have found for Luxurious Rentals are mostly around the Condos but they seem to be mostly positive.

I have found some reviews for "Dieselrvrentals.com" as well and they also seem mostly positive.

I will continue to watch this thread with anticipation and wonder. I hope you get the information you need.

Thanks for doing some homework for me
I did chat with someone from Luxurious rentals and was told a 5th wheel would cost us $150/night in September. I will double check that price but that is the same price we paid for a "well used" 5th wheel with lots of roaches last year with another company (not Greenburg). We need a rental that is pet friendly so that narrows the choices down a bit.

We did end up booking for 9 days this September. The rental fee is indeed $150/night but they also charge a $250 setup/delivery fee and since we're taking our 2 dogs, there is a $75 pet fee for each dog. We were able to get a small discount on the premium campsite using the Back to School savings promotion. We also rented a cart from Kenny's (they're closed on Labor day so we will go a day without a cart). So far the reservation process with dieselrvrentals.com and http://www.****************.com/ has gone very smoothly.

I know we could stay in a deluxe resort for the money we're spending at the Fort, but for those of us who need to bring our pets and don't already have an RV and want to stay on property, this is our only option.

Yet another reason (for another thread) why folks spend this kind of money on rentals. (Not that you have to justify it to anyone.)

I hope you continue to keep us posted as how things go with your trip as well as your rentals. I am sure others will have the same concerns that you have had.

Good luck on your trip and I hope you have an awesome time.

Also while the money is the same as a deluxe, its not the Fort we love and I have stayed at a few of the Deluxes and they are nice... BUT you have a kitchen and most likely more room in the RV as well. And a golf cart to just well be at the fort and cruise around :)

Totally agree. We love staying at the Beach Club and walking to Epcot in the evenings. However, our Fort visits tend to be more relaxing. I have more fun cruising around the fort in a golf cart than some of Disney's major attractions.:rotfl2:

Would you please PM the name of the company to me? We are about to pay our final payment for a camper and I want to make sure it is not the same company.

Sashacrab,

You won't/can't receive a PM until you have 10 posts or more and as of right now it shows only 3 for you.

It's a system software thing.

The 2nd time we rented from myrvhotel we had a bad experience with roaches, the AC unit died. The owner did respond quickly with a portable AC unit and in general responded quickly to several issues we encountered. The roach problem, however, was not solved. In fact we left a day early because we did not want to sleep with the bugs.

Thank you for this information. We are renting through a different company (J&T), however, I want to be prepared for bugs. Can you tell me if they were the little german roaches or the big cockroaches (palmetto bugs)?

Thank you Bama Ed! Whereabouts are you from? We live in Fairhope. .... a little too close to Disney for our bank account. ... working on those 10 posts! =) I want to add an avatar and do all of that other fun stuff.

The roaches were smaller (about the size of the infamous Love-bugs). We didn't have this issue the 1st time we rented. I suspect RV owners take better care of their units to avoid bugs/rodents, whereas the rentals probably don't get the same kind of preventative measures.

Is this your 1st time renting or staying at the Fort?

Yes, we usually stay off-site. We had planned a camping trip to the mountains, but, with three young children, it started getting stressful, so I switched it to Disney. =) It wasn't easy talking my husband into it, mostly because of the heat. We're leaving in 6 days.

I will bring some combat roach motels (thanks for the size info). I will also ask J&T when the camper was sprayed last. I'm assuming you have them sprayed quarterly, like we do our house... and if they don't, they should.

Sashacrab, I am up here in the 'ham (Birmingham area - Hoover to be exact). Love Fairhope and the whole Eastern Shore. I first started going down there for work in 1991 going forward and could tell even then it was a special area.

Oddly enough, this was in my FB newsfeed when I went on tonight....

We're staying in one of their 5th wheels right now at the fort. The RV is nice. It seems pretty new to me. The only real issue we've had is the RV getting a little too warm during the day. There's only 1 AC and the bedroom can get pretty toasty. We're now leaving the awning extended while we're at the parks and lowering the thermostat to the mid 60s. Here's a photo of the living area
