hi dis boards! I am surprising my 4 year old niece with a trip to Disney at the of August. I plan to surprise her by giving her a Frozen back pack filled with things she will need/experience for the trip. Any ideas what to include? I have a my first trip to Disney T, a toy airplane cuz we are flying. What other ideas do you creative people have?

Autograph books with a big pen or marker, disney lanyard with a starter pen collection to trade, her favorite disney character water bottle that you can refill in the parks, glow sticks that can be made into bracelets or necklaces for the night time shows, bag of new pennies and quarters for the penny press machines, some disney dollar store coloring books or sticker sets.

I have 7 kids and these are things I've given them for our WDW trips. Have fun!!

What you include will totally depend on budget, personality, and space. PP and I have some of the same ideas! I suggest including something from the following groupings of snacks, water bottle (pre-wash it so it's ready), activity for plane, clothing, plush of some sort. So here is the full list of options:
* snacks! so key for the plane and think of things that aren't too sugary but are filling as well as some treats -- stuff like dry cheerios. You can consider getting a lunchbox and putting them all in there for easy location and access. Make sure you have extra ziplocs if any leftovers need to be stashed
* Disney band aids
* coloring books, crayons, stickers
* water bottle
* stuffed animal
* autograph book or supplies -- you can make a personalized one via the Creative DISigns board below or go functional and fun with a pillowcase, fabric markers and embroidery hoop (holds it taut to autograph)
* a DIY coupon book! My new fav from the Creative DISigns board as well -- personalized coupons for things like cupcake, popcorn, special treat, pick the next ride, certain rides like Kilimanjaro safari and shows like Enchanted Tales with Belle, coin for Snow White's fountain, and "take a break" coupon.
* take a mini M&Ms tube and fill with 2 quarters and a penny and repeat. Perfect for pressed pennies!
* sunglasses, hat, mini mister fan (you'll need it!) -- they sell some on line that are carabiner clip ones

Great ideas Pesky!! We use the empty M&M containers for pennies as well. For a snack on the plane, my little kids love Lunchables. And you can find disney fruit snacks at any grocery store...including Frozen if you want to stick with a Frozen theme.

We just did this with our little ones (7 and 2) and we put the following in their Disney backpacks:

-Small-Mickey and Minnie lunchboxes (we'll fill it with snacks for the plane)
-Mickey and Minnie T-Shirts
-Mickey and Minnie PJs
-Mickey bathing suit for DS2 and a black and pink polka dot suit for DD7
-Mickey band-aids

We were going to add Disney coloring books and hand sanitizers, but I couldn't contain my excitement and gave it to them a couple of weeks ago. I'm terrible with big surprises! I hope I helped and I hope you have the best vacation!!

I am doing this for my 6 year old niece and in the Olaf backpack so far I have:

  • glow sticks and a lot of other glow items like rings and necklaces and tops (I got carried away at the dollar store)
  • disney coloring books and glitter posters
  • Disney crayons
  • Pins
  • lanyard
  • sunglasses
  • autograph book
  • frozen pen
  • eye found it disney card game
  • the flat water bottle things
  • Shellie May bear with a first trip to Disney shirt/hat on
  • Shellie May book
  • Disney Picture Frames from the dollar store
  • Those towel things that get bet bigger when wet
  • disney hand sanitizer
  • a dollar store fan with batteries
  • Thinking of adding an EPCOT passport and/or a pressed penny book with some pennies and quarters for her to do pressed pennies

I think that is all that is in her backpack…for now. Lately, every time I go to the dollar store, I find more stuff to put in the backpack. I probably should not say I also have a separate box for her that contains three outfits and 3 t-shirts and a pirate costume. I know my mom got her a swimsuit cover and I think a Finding Dory dress. We are only going to be in Disney World for 4 days plus the 2 travel days.

I am totally over doing it for my niece but I think this will be her one and only trip to Disney so I'm doing everything I can to make it perfect. The other nice thing is I've bought some of the stuff ahead of time that we would have bought at the park and saved some money on the items.

It may sound silly but just know how your niece reacts to surprises. We totally surprised my 4 year old with her first trip to Disney. We ended up keeping it a secret until she got off the monorail and was at security check in. It was anti-climatic. She stood dumbfounded for a while and didn't really know what was going on for the first half hour. Don't get me wrong we had a great time but surprise trips aren't her thing. On another note character lunchbox or little purse, a necklace or charm bracelet, mini character doll or stuffed animal she can take into the park and character band aids. She may enjoy pin trading and an autograph book is always good. We bought a bunch of 8x10 picture mattes off of amazon and had the characters sign that. It ended up a lot of the characters had a lot of putting themselves in the frame for pictures and had a good time with it. I then printed out some of the best ones and hung them on her wall. The charm bracelet was nice because she got to pick out a few princess and minnie charms. She then REALLY enjoyed showing off the characters on her bracelet to the characters that she met
