AP or MYW tickets

Hi

My DD(5 yo)and I are going to Orlando mid September. We are staying at Hilton through out our stay, unless ofc my Rci search for a Dvc comes through.

We expect to be visiting Disney 5-6 days

I have found PH MYW tickets for 4 days get 3 additional days for free. Price 370$

My question is since the entire family is also going to Orlando next year during July, and will be visiting Disney 5-6 times, will my DD and I be better of with an AP or should we just buy the MYW tickets?

Also the photo option which is available at the parks, how does it work and what does it cost if you don't have the AP?

Regards

If those are Parksavers tickets then you might consider buying those, then upgrade to an AP (a quick upgrade should give you credit for a 7 day MYW ticket towards the AP)

If you have an AP on your MYW account, then all of your Photopass pictures in your MYW account "unlock" for free downloads, even if those pictures were taken earlier in the week.

If you are going 5 or 6 times a year, AP is the way to go for sure.

Photo downloads are free with the AP, so you are saving $150 per a trip just in photos.

Platinum Plus AP will cost almost $800 including taxes but if the following year you plan on going the renewal is less than $700

Good point hakepb, I have also heard to enter the park with that discounted ticket before you upgrade it to an AP. Locks the ticket in at full price or something to that effect. I'm planning to upgrade to an AP next month myself.

Where are you finding this price? It looks lower than Parksavers or Boardwalk Ticketing.
ETA: Now I see that's the child price.

Thanks for your answer.

Won't be going 5-6 trips a year but will visit the parks for a total of 10-12 times over the next year.

Your tickets should be tied to your MDE account, you go to a ticket booth or guest relations inside a park or DS and they convert your ticket to an AP and you pay the difference.

Which price will they use as base price for upgrading?

Will they use whatever price I paid for 4 days or will they use their own discounted price for 7 days since I have access for 7 days regardless of what I have paid?

Or will they use a different base price?

Regards

They should use the full price for a seven-day ticket as the basis for calculating the difference through a process called price bridging. Some CMs know how to do it and will take the time to do it properly. However, some don't know or are too lazy so you should know going in what you expect to pay. If the price you are quoted doesn't match, ask to see a supervisor or try later at a different location. In the past you had to use the ticket first before doing an upgrade in order to lock in the current base price but I believe that may have been changed.

Well, I cant say for certain since I have never done it, but I have read here that if you don't use the discounted ticket at all, they will be able to tell what you bought the ticket for and deduct that from the price if your AP.
However, If you enter the park with the discounted ticket you bought, therefore activating that ticket, THEN go to a ticket window, they will issue you a credit of gate price. Maybe someone who knows more than I do can chime in.

What about the memory maker option which is included with the AP. On Disneys site they states that any photos captures before or 3 days after the purchase of memory maker is to be purchased separately? Can't I download any photos taken the first 3 days without paying for them again? Or does the AP purchase make the memory maker work instantly?

Or is the workaround to buy the memory maker option on beforehand and then link it to your MYW ticket knowing that you will be upgrading to AP's during your first visit?

If the memory maker option is bought on beforehand will that price also be credited towards the upgrade to AP's?

Regards

I can't answer about the memory maker purchase before buying the AP, but we bought the 4/3 Park Savers tickets for our whole group for an October trip, DH and I did a weekend trip for Memorial Day so upgraded our PS tickets to AP's and were credited the full gate price for a 7 day PH towards the cost with no issue. This saved us about $100 off the cost of each or our AP's using a discounted Sam's Club Disney Gift card to pay the balance. We did so on the first day of our trip so all of our photos from that weekend are available for me to download until May of 2017. We have a one night trip planned in September, a week with family in October, a week in January where I will be in Orlando for work and another trip for DH and I in May to finish out our AP.

If you are certain you are upgrading at least 1 ticket to an AP then there is no need to buy MM in advance, since the AP does not have the same "waiting period rules" as the stand alone MM

Thanks for all your replies.

I'm intending to upgrade my MYW tickets to AP's, it's great that the memory maker option is activated straight away.

We intend to use the memory maker a lot, so it's great that we can access the pictures and download them without paying Even though we already payed when buying the AP's.

I think some of this has already been explained, but since we just did it on Sunday I thought my experience might help.

We purchased ParkSaver 7 day park hoppers (including free days). On Sunday we entered Epcot and went to guest services inside the park. They were able to upgrade us to annual passes. We had calculated what we expected to pay and it came out to exactly what we had expected. For reference we paid $330.15 for the upgrade to Platinum and $415.35 for the upgrade to Platinum + (DS and I will go to water parks, DH decided it wasn't worth it for him). As soon as we exited guest services my photos were available to download including ones still on my account from January (well before buying an annual pass in July).
