Hi

What is the best place for character dining at DLP for teatime?. It is my sons 7th birthday and want it to be special. If you could let us know what characters there are as well.

Got to say the disneyland paris website is very slow and doesn't give a great deal of detail.

Thanks

Phil

Cafe Mickey is good for a kid's birthday. Has most (if not all) of the fab 5 and a few others (I've seen Tigger, Hook, Chip n Dale).

Inventions is another option, it's a bit more expensive but (imo) the food is better, the character interaction is better and you're not rushed at all. We stayed for 3 hours! When I went in Feb I saw Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Tigger, Eeyore, Pluto and Genie but this is obviously subject to change.

Phone on 00 33 1 60 30 40 50 you can book up to 60 days in advance although it's not necessary to book that far out, a few weeks ahead should be fine.

Brilliant, thanks so much, there's no price either...will they give me that info over the phone? i know cafe mickey coz we always pick there :) xx

Yes they should be able to because you're phoning direct to the park on that number. Unfortunately this board is really quiet these days so sadly no up to date menus/prices posted but I reckon if you think in the region of €60 per adult €30 per child you won't be that far out. I know it's a lot but we've always felt it's worth it.

As of this month Inventions is 60 Euros per adult and 33 Euros per child excluding drinks.

For 2 adults and 2 kids you're looking between 200 and 250 Euros depending on your drinks.

Cafe Mickey is (as at Nov 15 which is the most up to date menu I've seen)-

Adults: 36 Euros for 2 courses and 46 Euros for 3 courses
Kids: 23 Euros for 3 courses

For 4 Cafe Mickey would be about 50 Euros less than Inventions.

Don't think it's fair to compare the two really. I don't think anyone really goes to Cafe Mickey for the food, it's the characters they're after but on saying that we've always been happy with what we've ordered and never had a bad meal there. Enjoy wherever you go! :)

You pay all that money for Inventions and they dont even give you a drink? wow.
Im going to eat there in December but thought drinks were included. More money again! :-)

We did both Cafe Mickey and Inventions on our last trip to DLP, and both have some fantastic features, both are worth the money however both are two completely different dining experiences and the price reflects this in my opinion. Now my personal opinion on this would be to do both if your going for more than 2 days because they are both fantastic character restaurants, but if you can only do one, go with Inventions. More expensive but worth it.

We did Cafe Mickey for breakfast the food was great, and the decor is brilliant, you can't not go wrong.

HOWEVER, in regards to Inventions we found this to be on another level of character dining. Even more so than anything we've experienced in WDW.

One other thing to remember is that Inventions overlooks Main Street USA, so if you time your reservation just right (Like we did luckily), they play the soundtrack to Dreams over the speakers in the restaurant and you have an amazing view of Disney Dreams whilst having you're meal.

The food was fantastic and lots more choice than Cafe Mickey.

In regards to the characters, really this is the best character meet opportunity you'll find in DLP. We met Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Pinocchio and Gepetto. Each character will give you a very personal experience, rather than just a quick stop and a photo. Mickey even sat on our table with Goofy for a good 5 minutes interacting and taking lots of photo's.

The character interaction didn't stop there, we even bumped into Mickey and Goofy going into the dressing room whilst we were wandering around the hotel, and they interacted with us in the corridor. We are two adults and we thought this was such a magical touch, so if you have kids with you this would make their holiday.

So although Inventions is a little more pricey, for me, the difference in price DOES effect your experience. So I'd go with Inventions.

However as I said earlier, do both :-)

There is a drink included in the price of a kids meal. For adults there is a drink included if you are paying with Premium meal vouchers, otherwise drinks are extra. They are happy to provide a free jug of water.

ah thank you for the info. I have booked the Premium vouchers so maybe we will get a drink then! :-)

Would thoroughly recommend the Inventions character dining. The experience was so relaxed, and the food, despite being a buffet, was really nice.

I would not recommend L'auberge de Cendrillon. The food is OK, I found the service lacking and if you have kids I personally feel it is aimed more at little girls than little boys.I'm hoping that by the next time we go they've improved their service, but as of right now I'd say give that a miss. If you're looking for a really upmarket meal without the kids go to California Grill it's out of this world.

We haven't been to Cafe Mickey, but we had brunch and lunch at Inventions. And we loooved it. (Actually the reason we had lunch - after we had brunch the day before - was that we loved the food and the place so much).

But we were an adult and a 17 yo, so we we were looking for a bit fancier experience. And food in Inventions was VERY nice. It is still buffet - which I like, but kind of fancy buffet. And everything was just delicious. We were staying in Disneyland hotel too, so it was really easy for us.

I suppose if we had bigger party and/or little kids who don't care for fancy food, I would probably go to Cafe Mickey - as it seems like it is cheaper.

Though like somebody mentioned before - both the eating and the characters parts in Inventions are very relaxed and not rushed, so in that way it would work nicely for little kids.

But I can see the parents would not be able to justify the price tag for themselves, as their kids would be the same or even more happy with cheaper food in less expensive place.

I tried ringing the reservation team to get a price for inventions and couldn't get through after nearly an hour on the phone, (fuming). Anyone have an idea on prices? I'm also looking into Cendrillion because of the wait times with the pavillion, even though its expensive, it might be better choice so we get some princesses without the VERY long wait which i don't think my 3 year old will do. I'd totally do it if it was just me lol xx
