What do you do with your phone while in water parks?

I know you said you do not want to rent a locker, but I would rent a locker. That is how I have always done it.

I also now have a waterproof pouch that you can wear around your neck for phones. I personally still did not feel safe with that, especially in wave pool or more thrilling slides. Just not worth risking, IMO.

In the pass I have also always left a little bit of cash in my shoe at our "spot". (claimed chairs with towels) I have never had an issue before, but I am not sure if I would would leave my $500+ device.

If you do not want to get a locker, I would say the best would be to leave it at your room.

We have season passes at Hersheypark. I bought a water proof pouch that you wear around your neck for it. Not heavy at all and the strap is adjustable.

I leave mine at the resort, but I hate not being able to take pictures at the water parks. We just went to Splash Country (Dollywood water park) last week and I don't have a single picture of our two days in the park.

I think when we go to TL and BB in September we will rent a locker so I will have some pics/memories of the parks.

OP, here is an interesting idea: I saw a lady at Splash Country who carried her phone in a waterproof bag around her neck. She actually took pictures of her family in the wave pool on her phone through the waterproof, clear pouch. I had never seen anyone do that before. I don't know how the quality could be very good- and I don't know if they specifically make pouches through which phone pics can be taken. She was smiling and laughing and snapping away as if she had done this many times before.

I guess I live dangerously, I always just leave mine in our bag at our chairs at waterparks. (both Disney and at home) I definitely don't want to be without it all day - I want to be able to take pictures, and sometimes it's nice just to relax and read FB for a few minutes. True, it could get stolen. But so far, knock-on-wood, it hasn't. And if it does, well I'm not very fond of it anyway so I wouldn't be heartbroken if I "had" to get a new one, lol!

Don't want to rent a locker just for that but don't want to leave it in my unattended bag either. Should I just not bring it (but may want it to Uber back to resort)??? Thought about a waterproof box on lanyard but phone would get pretty heavy.

Thanks Disboarders!
I've used the waterproof phone lanyard before but it is annoying. A locker is $10. We get one & leave our phones, wallets, Magic Bands, etc., in there, too. It's worth the security and the knowing that these essentials are safe.

Go to Target and buy a $20 lock box from Master Lock. It has a cord you can wrap around the chairs and keep your valuables safe. They may steal the box but they are not going to steal it when you wrap it around two long lounge chairs. haha

Aren't the magic bands waterproof and safe for swimming?

Absolutely. I just don't enjoy wearing them wet. And I don't have to worry about my son losing his while he's water sliding, or swimming in Typhoon Lagoon's tsunami- I mean wave pool.

I get a locker. I don't leave anything unattended in the water parks, even a towel.

I just got home from Typhoon Lagoon and there was a very upset family talking to CMs as I was leaving because someone took their duffel bag from a chair, and apparently it had their change of clothes, their car keys, their phones, and their passports in it.

I now use a Kyss bag. I don't want to pay for a locker and leaving the phone in the car isn't a great idea as we go in August and it's way too hot. This way I can leave all the stuff I need for the day in the bag and not worry.

And then accidentally throw it away. I hate the diaper trick, it doesn't fool anyone. If you're going to go that path, use a pair of men's boxers.
Is this what Walt's dream resort has devolved to- people looking through dirty diapers and other men's undershorts? :sad2:

I was at our local theme park with just the kids the other day and I rented a locker just for my phone. I literally just put my phone in there and shut the door. Had a water container around my neck for my ID and money, but not enough room for the phone. I'm planning two water park days this trip and I'll rent a locker for both our phones, and I just purchased one of those disposable 27 exp old school water cameras. I really just don't want to risk my phone since I want to do slides, and wave pool! Also great to just be totally disconnected from virtual life for a few hours and live like I did ten or fifteen years ago!!

Even 10 years ago when we would leave phones in the hotel room for whole trip (too expensive to use a UK phone in US back then) we would still rent a locker for t-shirts, cash, cards etc. Maybe I'm just too worried about stuff or maybe its becuase we go more for the slides than the chairs.

Thanks everyone for the great ideas! Am going to look into the armband (to make sure it can keep the phone waterproof), the lanyard & the lockbox-all are new ideas for me!

Truth? I leave it in the toe of my shoe. Always have.
Used to be my security option too, until someone walked off with my Reeboks (and my phone and room card - before Magic bands) DOH!
We go for the locker now.

Just out of curiosity (not trying to be a pain or anything!), why are people so against renting a locker for $10 for the day? If you're afraid of things getting taken, wouldn't it be a cheaper option than someone stealing your things or having to buy something to wear it around all day? I, personally, would go nuts if something were attached to me all day long...but to each his own, I suppose. I think I just like my phone too much to risk it getting wet, even in one of those cases!

We rented a locker at the waterparks for $10. Pro tip: you can use your receipt to get a free locker at any of the parks for the rest of the day (with a $5 refundable deposit). This works awesome for park hopping and not having to carry your wet swimsuit and towel all day too :)
