Favorite Place to Relax in DL?

Hello!

For my upcoming trip, I am not planning on leaving the parks in the afternoons (not staying onsite or across the street, I think it would be too much trouble to try and leave for a break during the day). I was wondering what some of your guys' favorite places to sit down and relax in Disneyland are? For DCA I was thinking Animation Academy and I am doing a Frozen pre show package, so I think I'm covered for my DCA day. But what about Disneyland? I'm probably not looking for a restaurant option, but more like a nice shady spot to sit down and take a mental break for a bit?

I look forward to hearing what you all suggest!

Launch Bay! It's my new favorite spot to get out of the sun and crowds. It has low lighting, a lot of places to sit (on the floor) where you are out of the way, and it's fairly quiet.

Tiki Room (including the waiting area) is a nice break that still hits an attraction, and the area near the NOS railroad stop has some good shade.

Back corner of the Hungry Bear is cool when it is busy, we sat and ate and just relaxed when we were in the park at 100% capacity and we were comfortable enough for our kids to nap.

The lower level of Hungry Bear has been especially quiet our last couple of trips due to RoA being closed off. There's a tarp over the view (or was in May at least), so not much to look at, but it's dark and cool, which is nice.

I like the little lagoon between IASM and Matterhorn, too. It's pretty quiet and not too crowded usually.

Don't discount the hotels! The grand Californian lobby is super nice and you can easily get in and out via the DCA exit/entrance (ok for non- hotel guests to use after 11am).

This trip we were there for a week and never once walked back to our off site hotel like we usually do. Instead, we used the DCA exit to go sit in the lobby of the Grand. I used the wifi (I don't have a smart phone so it was my chance to use my ipod touch and check emails) and sometimes DH even fell asleep. They also have free water and cups over near the lounge. Sometimes, we then left the hotel to walk over to Starbucks in DTD and relax a little more there. Then we went back in to the parks again.

We liked Launch Bay for the days we stayed in the parks all day, but I much preferred going back to the hotel for a few hours. A quick shower and a change of clothes made all the difference enjoying the evening!

My family likes to take breaks and have a small snack at some of the QS locations (e.g., Jolly Holiday, Hungry Bear, Stage Door Cafe). Most of the those places have a fair amount of seating, although it's all outdoors. Another option might be watching Mickey & the Magical Map (it's not indoor, but it's somewhere to sit down with entertainment). For indoor breaks, Launch Bay is a good option (although, there isn't much seating). The Main Street Opera House is another option (again, with only limited seating).

We always hit the park early and hit the longer ride line rides, and when it gets hot (12ish) or whenever, we usually head back to the hotel (DLH) for a quick pool trip and naps for the kids. Then we go back to the parks in the evening.

The Disney Gallery and Great Moments with Mr Lincoln on Main Street is nice and cool, with a couple places to sit. I like looking at the art in the Gallery and my husband likes the show, so win win!

Hope this helps, stay cool

Aladdins Oasis is pretty great from what I've heard and not a hot spot in terms of crowds

I love the challenge trail in CA. Granted, I have kids, and yes, there are a lot of kids running around, but I'd like it even if I didn't have kids, I think. It's nice and shady and if you can snag a bench in an out-of-the-way place, I find it very restful.
