ChEAR Squad Questions

My wife and I are debating whether to sign her mother up as part of a ChEAR Squad as she will be the only one not doing a race (9 of us all together). She chose not to do one, but we thought this might be a cool way for her to still be involved.

We'd probably only sign her up for the Silver package. However I wanted to know if anyone had any pictures of the items you got and how is the quality.

Following. My parents are thinking of doing Squad at both Disneyland and for marathon weekend, but I wanted to see feedback on others' experiences.

Also - they won't get to Disneyland until Saturday and will likely miss the Expo. Does anyone know how the credentials for Chear are handled? Can I buy it in my name and just hand it over to them or is that an illegal transfer?

Not the best picture, but here's my blanket and clapper from the Avengers. T-shirt was a standard cotton T, not flimsy. The blanket is actually pretty cool how it folds up and goes over your shoulder. The coffee was not included, although they did have some there, just not my vanilla soy latte. :)

I could probably find my stuff if you want specific pictures.

Thanks for the info. I know a silver package is something like $40 so I was curious as whether is was a decent deal. But the picture does help.

How big is the blanket?

It is a nice blanket. I keep the one i got several years ago in the back of my SUV. I has a shoulder strap and rolls up like a sleeping bag with clasps to keep it rolled up. Living in South Florida not much of a need to use it.

The one i got is made of 100 polyester and measures 4 X 4 3/4 feet. It is also not a thick blanket but will help do the job.

I am not sure where the clappers ended up but they are the same as pictured above along with a blue t-shirt. Personally i would not do this again. You do get specific viewing locations at the finish line and in front of the castle. Comparison would be how they do the fast passes for the parade, castle show, and fireworks. They did give out hot chocolate the year i did it at both the castle and the finish. I did this for the half. I cannot speak for the what was available for the full.

If one does not mind being off center of the hub you can still see and get great pics of your runners. The same goes for being at the finish line. The below were done just outside of the side of the ChEAR Squad sections.

we are considering the silver package for my wife for marathon weekend which gets you the stuff but not the reserved seating, we are not so concerned with the reserved seating more so just want the stuff as souvenirs from the trip

My mom decided to purchase the chEAR squad package for the Star Wars 1/2. She felt like the blanket and shirt were sufficiently nice for the cost of the package. In fact I was glad she bought the package because I draped the blanket around my shoulders following both the 10K and the 1/2.

She did not regret buying the package, but also said that if she ever comes down for another runDisney event weekend, she would not purchase the package again and just try to spot me in the available viewing areas that are not in the parks.

The parentals went ahead and pulled the trigger on the Platinum ChEar package for Disneyland. They're not familiar with the area like they are at WDW, so this will probably be the only time they get the package.

With watching three runners that will depart and finish at different times, the option of the reserved seating and an opportunity for them to have breakfast while we all run was a big bonus for them.

My SO did the same for Tink. We were not familiar with the layout at Disneyland since we'd only been there once before for a single day, and never out on the Disneyland Drive side. SO decided to do the package so he would know where he could go to watch, and be able to have breakfast and a place to wait in the tent since we knew it was going to be quite a long wait for him for me to come in.

Oh, yay! Any tips he might have than I can pass along to my parents?

Did he enjoy it?

I think he said it was ok. :) The breakfast was not anything special, just continental stuff, but it was nice to have the tent to wait inside since it was very sunny and between the corral delay and me being slow, it was over 4 hours he was waiting. :) He went to Starbucks in DD on his way to the Main Street location, then headed over to the tent. I guess there were live video feeds there too from the course cameras, although I don't think you could see much on them, they were pretty fuzzy from what I could tell when they were showing it on the overhead video screen while our corral was waiting to go. :)

Got a question, does the chear squat shirt, blanket, etc change color year to year or race weekend to race weekend?

Where do you register for ChEAR squad? I'm running the half but contemplating getting it to watch my husband in the full and I can't find anything on runDisney.com

Some ChEAR Squad packages are released a bit later others are open same time as races. Just keep checking back.

I hope they offer a Silver Package. A few races I only see gold & platinum. Why they did away with bronze is beyond me.

Im planning on the princess weekend ( 10 and 1/2 ) with a friend. My Mother who is in her 80's is coming and still wants to "try" to see us run. She wouldn't be interested in a shirt and all that but basically just wants somewhere to sit. Can she just go down in the AM or does she have to buy a seat in order to sit down?

There is reserved seating for higher chear squad packages and also seating in nearby tent with tvs, food. If you don't get chear squad then you can still get finishline seating on a first come first served basis.

I have a quick question. I am wanting to purchase a cheer squad pkg...gold/platinum...for Marathon weekend. Do you also have to have a park ticket too? I noticed an astrik that said Park ticket required on the Run Disney in the Cheer Squad description before registration. I didn't understand the point of a park ticket if your only going out before the park was open but then the park does open mid morning. Anyone have any clarification for that?

I can't speak for marathon weekend but I was in and out of MK during princess half without ticket.
