Walking from Boardwalk to Hollywood Studios (in August?)

We have done lots of August/ September trips and a sunny window seat in a crowded boat is so much worse then walking!! :sunny:

IMHO, that's the perfect time to walk there. We stay at BWV a lot and have been in WDW the last week in August every year for the past 5 years. Mornings and evenings are best for the walk, but, honestly, we've done it even in late afternoon. We usually beat the boat and honestly I'd rather be hot, walking and getting somewhere than be hot waiting for a boat to show up.
I agree it shouldn't be to hot at 9:00 but we never had any waiting time for a boat. Every time we walked out to get on a boat it was there or just pulling up.

We stayed at Beach Club which is a bit further away and walked it four times a couple of summers ago (in August). It is a short walk in the big scheme of walking I couldn't get my head around anyone faffing about waiting for a boat. I think with all the food at WDW any opportunity for a bit of exercise is welcome. It didn't take more than 20 minutes from Beach Club and you can wait that long for the boat.

My wife, five year old and I are staying at the Boardwalk in a few weeks and will be walking to and from HS and Epcot for rope drop, back for afternoon break, back to the parks around 430 and then after fireworks. We did the same thing last year. I look at it as if we cant walk to the park in the heat how will we walk a few miles around the park in the heat each day.

If it works for all of you, that's great.
I don't think the walk from the Boardwalk to HS is the same as walking around the parks, but that's just my opinion.

Hi Gwynne, do you mean the walk from Boardwalk to HS is worse or better than walking around in the parks?

Walking from BW to HS in August it's really hot and humid and you're pretty much stuck on a small sidewalk. In the parks, you can get find shade, duck into an air conditioned shop for a bit, find a place to sit if need be and so on. So in very hot weather, I enjoy walking the parks much more than the walk from BW to HS.

I understand your opinion but the only reason we stay at The Boardwalk is to be able to walk to the two parks. I don't see much of a reason to stay Deluxe other than location but that is just my opinion.

I often do the walk if staying at BCV or BWV... we take our time and often stop to take photos etc so it usually takes us about 20 minutes. We use it as relaxing downtime and we don't rush.

I've often wondered why Disney(knowing their business accumen) doesn't put a "beverage cart" alongside the Lake Hollywood walkway about halfway between Boardwalk and DHS.

They'd sell a TON!:)

Why isn't there bus service from Epcot or Studios to the hotels?? It was especially annoying when it was time for us to leave HS, not knowing this, and tried to get to Beaches and Cream at BC. We didn't know how to get there quickly. Two of us got a cab, and a few took the boat. One person walked ( we were afraid we would miss our reservation.) Guess who got there first?

With boats or walking as options,Disney considers buses unnecessary, similar to why they don't run buses from the Seven Seas Lagoon Resorts to Epcot because of the Monorail service.
