What books do you re-read?

I'm in agreement with folks on a lot of these (Harry Potter, LOTR, Wheel of Time, etc.). I'll add a few that haven't been mentioned, but which I've read so many times I've destroyed my copies: The Killer Angels, Secretariat, The Ancestor's Tale, The Phantom Tollbooth, Where the Red Fern Grows, Lost Moon...many, many others.

I always say that every kid should read Where the Red Fern Grows!!! That and My Side of the Mountain!! I could never get through The Phantom Tollbooth for some reason though

"A Tree Grows in Brooklyn". I was given a copy for my 10th birthday and I've read it at least once a year since then. After almost 59 years of handling, the book is pretty beat-up, but I treasure it greatly.

How could I have forgotten A Tree Grows in Brooklyn? It's a favorite of mine as well, also read numerous times :)

When I was 11 or 12 I used to love to scour used book stores and thrift shops and found many of my favorites there. There were three books in particular that I absolutely loved to read in Jr. High and High School, I read them over and over until they fell apart, then I'd repair them and read them to shreds again, it was a cycle. I lost them in a move and never bothered to replace them because I was at the point in my life where I needed to get rid of books, not buy more. They went out of print decades ago, but someday when money's not so tight I'll track down copies to replace them:

Last Junior Year
Can I Get There By Candlelight?
Celia Garth (the story reminds me of Gone With the Wind, except it's set in the Revolutionary War)

I'm normally a lurker but I had to respond to this.

Oh my gosh! Celia Garth is probably my all time favorite book! And I've never known anyone else who ever heard of it. It's been a few years since I read it so I guess it's time to pull it out again.

I also reread all my Agatha Christie books, Dorothy Gilman books and The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series.

Wow, and ditto! Until now I've never known anyone who had read Celia Garth, or even knew it existed, but I guess I can't say that anymore! That book has it all: romance, action, espionage, history, and a relatable protagonist. And now you made me want to read it again, guess I'll see if I can ILL it : )

Anything by James Rollins or Matthew Reilly. Currently re-reading Preston & Child's Pendergast Series to refresh myself and to catch up on some that I hadn't read. Have also done Clive Cussler books. I have "The Cat Who" series and I have read that a couple times. Usually it is an author that i am really interested in. I will be going back to one of Matthew Reilly's series before October to refresh myself on those before the next book comes out.

I will go back to books to refresh my memory of something or if I have been reading some "heavy/dramatic" type books and need something light. Right now I have so many on my "to read" list I will never get caught up. :coffee: If I am not reading, then I am crocheting. And I have been reading more to put off working on this one project because it is driving me crazy.

I will also read Agatha Christie books. There were a couple in elementary school that were my favorite and they were The Secret Language and From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs Basil E. Frankwiler. I told my granddaughter I would read her these.

The Color Purple
The Grapes of Wrath
Gone With The Wind
A Tree Grows In Brooklyn
Angela's Ashes
The "Little House" series
The "Harry Potter" series
The "All creatures Great and Small" series by James Herriot

The Diary of a Young Girl- Anne Frank...I read it as a young girl. Then, actually visited the secret annex in Amsterdam last year and it all came to life for me, all these years later, so moving. I came home, I had to read it all again.

These days, I use my iPad mini which supports Nook, Kindle, and other services. When e-book prices are in the same ballpark, I'll get the Nook version, because Amazon already gets too much of my money.

But mostly I'll get audiobooks, and, sigh, Audible has very little competition.
Check into what services your local library provides. Almost all of my e-reading material comes from there and practically everything is also available in audio. I don't borrow a ton in that format but my car has an MP3 input so I do use them for road trips.

"Into Thin Air" - Jon Krakauer.

I have spent a lot of time on Mt. Everest with those climbers.

My library uses OverDrive, but doesn't have a huge selection of audiobooks of interest to me. I have gotten some good e-books through them.
