Hi!
I have another thread 'I still do...Let's renew' and I'm sure we will do that one day.
However, after careful consideration, I have come to the conclusion that we could take vow renewal money and have an amazing 2nd honeymoon! Our first honeymoon was spent at WDW. We stayed at the GF. It was wonderful. We have been many times since. We have stayed at GF, WL, and AKL. It would be nice to stay somewhere different this time. I would really like to go in early Feb 2017. I teach middle school. Fall & spring are just too busy for me to leave. Plus, we have been to WDW in Feb. before & if memory serves me well, the crowd was lighter & the weather was good.
I posted the question Poly vs. Contemporary under the Disney Resorts section. Hands down, Poly has been winning! So, my fellow Disney wedding friends, here are some questions for you:
1. Have you stayed at the Poly? Tell me about it. Looks like there could be some beautiful picture spots.
2. Have you gone on a Disneymoon? Was it for a special anniversary? What are some of the things you did to make your trip special?
3. Give me feedback on the Sparkling Dessert Party at EPCOT Illuminations. I have read some not-so-good reviews.
4. Has anyone done the Wishes cruise? Can this be private, for just one couple?
5. What is your favorite special 'date night' restaurant in MK, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios?

Thanks so much! You're the best!!

I can answer some of these! For one thing, I *love* WDW in early February. That's when we got married there. The prices and crowds are low, and the weather is great. The only drawback is this is when rides usually go down for rehab.

1. Have you stayed at the Poly? Tell me about it. Looks like there could be some beautiful picture spots.

We did our engagement photos there—it's great for photos! We haven't stayed since the renovation. The older rooms do feel older, but at least they're spacious!

2. Have you gone on a Disneymoon? Was it for a special anniversary? What are some of the things you did to make your trip special?

I have a 2-part podcast series absolutely PACKED with ideas for a romantic honeymoon or anniversary trip:

3. Give me feedback on the Sparkling Dessert Party at EPCOT Illuminations. I have read some not-so-good reviews.

I've been to a couple of those public dessert parties, and usually there are only a few good desserts and you still have to elbow your way to a good viewing spot. Since you're saving so much money by not doing a vow renewal, you might want to look into planning a small private dessert party...

4. Has anyone done the Wishes cruise? Can this be private, for just one couple?

Yes! Well, we did IllumiNations, but I have an episode about all types of fireworks cruises. When you hire a pontoon boat or the Grand 1, it's for your group only, no matter the size.

5. What is your favorite special 'date night' restaurant in MK, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios?

In MK I like to have dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table during the fireworks—it's a unique perspective where you feel like you're inside the show! At Epcot, I like Monsieur Paul for the combo of romance and fireworks view. At Hollywood Studios, the Brown Derby cuz it has the best food.

Carrie has answered all your questions brilliantly as always so i'll just chip in on the Poly. We stayed there for our wedding and i loved it. Being able to grab the monorail to MK, and walk to the TTC to get the monorail to Epcot was fab. I hope to stay there again for our 10 year anniversary trip.

2. Have you gone on a Disneymoon? Was it for a special anniversary? What are some of the things you did to make your trip special?

We did a honeymoon at DLR, but I think some of the same things still apply. Get celebration buttons, make sure your anniversary is noted on your hotel reservation and all dining reservations. We got bride and groom Mickey ears too! Definitely check out Carrie's podcasts, I didn't know they existed until I got back and even though they were for WDW there was so much information I still could have used!

Thanks for starting this thread. I am considering a 2nd Honeymoon at Disney for our 20th Anniversary next year & I'm getting some great ideas.
Carrie, your post is so helpful! I'm making notes of all the things I want to add to our list, including the great idea of a split stay. We've been debating GF or AKL, but your podcast reminded me that we could do both.

I posted the question Poly vs. Contemporary under the Disney Resorts section. Hands down, Poly has been winning!

I have been looking up the exact same things for our 10 year anniversary and was just looking at your Poly vs Contemporary post yesterday. I am ready to book the Poly after all the research! We ate at Ohana a few years ago and loved watching the fireworks from the beach after our meal.

One thing we did on our honeymoon that we want to book for next summer is dinner at the California Grill. We booked it so we were there during fireworks and asked for a window table facing MK. It was amazing! I highly recommend it. They pipe in the music from the park and dim the lights. It you aren't by the window, you can walk out onto the observation deck for a clearer view.
