Looking for a cheap clean hotel for one night off sight

What is cheap to you? That would help folks direct you to one.

Here are a few: Extended Stay America Lake Buena Vista, Super 8 Maingate, Destiny Palms Westgate....there really are lots of options for a cheap, one night stay!

We often do one night before a package...

Have stayed here. It was fully renovated a couple years ago and has just joined the Red Lion brand. It was great and covered all needs for about five days, one night for sure. https://www.groupon.com/deals/ga-bk-red-lion-hotel-orlando-kissimmee-maingate

We have gotten under $100 at Hampton Inn Lake Buena Vista, Hilton Garden Inn Lake Buena Vista, Hampton Inn Lake Buena Vista South, Buena Vista Suites and Baymont Inn Celebration.

Check Mousesavers, I know I just got a email yesterday for Disney Springs Best Western that would have been $85 including resort fees that included breakfast for two - of course depends on dates, but Mousesavers shares lots of specials.

Right now there are some deals offered for the Disney Allstar Resorts well under $100, will depend on your dates.

I second HopperFans suggestion! We stayed at that hotel in December and it was great for the money spent.

I got it on Sam's Club for $30 a night! Even with the cost of renewing our membership for $45 it was still a great deal.

You win! :cheer2: That's a great price.

Is/was this the Maingate Resort? If so, has it improved because it used to be awful.

It was the Maingate Resort and Spa now Red Lion owns it http://www.redlion.com/orlando
The rooms have been completely renovated. Everything is new and clean. The outside of course still looks older, but it has been painted and the grounds and pool areas look nice and maintained.

There's another hotel called Maingate Lakeside Resort and that looks like it gets bad reviews.

Good info, thanks! Maybe worth another try with a new company owning it!

We stayed at the Red Lion Maingate Thursday night. A few of my thoughts:

--It's huge! It looks old, but it's clean and neat.
--Three pools (we only checked out one, though.) The one we went to (outside our room 614) was very nice. Went from 3ft to 8ft. Pool towels available at the pool. Warm water, even at 7:30 am.
---A bit noisy, but then again, we were at the end of a walkway by the pool, outside, first floor.
---didn't eat at the diner available, didn't appeal to us.
---huge gift shop, gift shop prices. Lots of different things, from jewelry and keychains to wine, soda and cereal.
----Arcade was not impressive. Playground looked fine (didn't use). Didn't go to any other amenities to check them out.
----Main building was very clean and neat. People outside trimming leaves, washing down pool chairs and walkways about 7am (quietly though).
--Security cameras everywhere.
--tap cards to enter room, not swipe. DS very impressed. Heavy heavy door, hard to push open. make sure to pull it completely closed.

The room
---Main part of room was neat and clean. Decent size hotel room. Had 2 chairs (cushioned) plus tables at one, and a desk with a regular wood chair. Didn't find the lightswitch for the bedside table until Friday morning (hidden behind drapes by door), but there were two table lamps plus a lamp above the desk, so plenty bright. Two queen beds, all white bedding.
---Beds were comfy, although a bit firmer than we're used to. 3 pillows each bed, both firm and soft types.
---decent tv, didn't get HD channels, but was an HD tv. Mini Keurig in room. Small fridge, but didn't use or check it
---Carpet was clean; walked across it in white socks and didn't get dirt on them.
---Toiletries were 2 bar soaps, shampoo, condition, lotion, bath gel. smelled nice.
---Bathroom was split (sink/closet, bath/toilet). Both very clean.
---Bath/toilet was tiny! I stood one foot in tub/one out and touched both walls with my arms bent. Have to shut the door before sitting, otherwise knees get in the way. Tub was very deep, almost too much for me; banged my knees on it every time I got in/out. I'm 5'3" and the top of the tub went up to my knees. Not much water pressure, but the water was hot.
---sink/closet area didn't have a door or curtain, so getting dressed in front of a long mirror with son in room was a bit awkward. More room there though; large sink counter.
---plenty of towels. 4 washrags, 4 hand towels, 2 small bath towels, 4 large bath towels and one bath sheet.
---a/c was a wall unit under front window. When it ran cold, it ran cold (could set temps). We had it at 66 due to sun beating on window and it kept up nicely. At night, as my behind was the one right beside the a/c, it was either freezing (when it was on) or overheating (when it was off and DH kept rolling over closer to me). DH and DS had better time of it, stayed more consistent in the middle/far side of the room.

No pictures, because I'm lame that way.

---Easy to find from Disney.
---Restaurants nearby include Ihop and Perkins. Ihop was hopping busy, great service, excellent food (we don't go to Ihop by our house because the food is so-so, and the service worse.)

I think I am going to try Red Lion for a one-night early arrival.....Thanks all for the detailed remarks and great pictures!!

Well I'm booked for a one night stay at Red Lion. Funny thing....I booked thru TicketsAtWork with my discount thru my employer. They were offering this for only $42/nite. After taxes and fees $56 Here's the GREAT part.....they allow payment via PayPal. I had a credit on my PayPal account for something I returned during the holidays. I hadn't used PayPal since then but the credit was still hanging on. So I ended up paying $29 for a night at Red Lion!!! :goodvibes
