Mom's 45th Birthday Ideas?

My DM is turning 45 next month and I have been trying to come up with something to do. Her DH lives out of state and probably can't make it up to see her. I was hoping to take her and my two younger siblings to DLR, but thats's just out of my budget for now. MY DH suggested a nice dinner but seems cliche to me.

What about a spa day, maybe with an overnight at a nice inn or hotel that has a spa and other nice features, like a good restaurant, pool, etc.?

It would also help to know around where you live and what your mother is like.

Not sure why you find a nice dinner cliche, but I would love a nice dinner. I would enjoy a meal at your home or going out. Its not the food as much as it is the company!

I like the idea of an overnight at an inn or nice hotel. I wouldn't enjoy the spa, just not "my thing" but maybe your Mom would like that. Dinner out would be wonderful too. Actually, anything where you just spend TIME with her would probably be wonderful to her, I know that's the only real thing I care about when my DD and I get together. Just spending TIME. We did an overnight at a B&B once, it was wonderful. And she came up to our place up north last summer, when her DH was on a motorcycle trip, and left her kids with her mother-in-law and spent 3 nights with me. It was wonderful! :)

My mum LOVED pizza at a certain kiosk in a mall by me. It wasn't a fancy meal by any means but it's what she wanted more than anything for her 65th.

How often do you take her out for dinner? Does she enjoy eating out? A dinner at a nice place that you would not reg. go to is a great b-day gift.

Other than that you have movies, theater, events, etc. Just depends how much time you guys have available.

What kind of things does she like to do? Maybe a tour, wine tasting, baking or cooking class, one of those paint night events?

I would love my child to spend time with me. If they want to spend money on me maybe a piece of jewelry or a movie and dinner.

Take her drinking/dancing and be her designated driver for the night. My DW - who turns 45 later this year - would love that. :)

Dinner sounds good to me as does a lot of the other suggestions on here. It just depends on what she likes to do.

I am 46 but my kids are still on the younger side so they still don't take me out yet .lol.

Who is going to celebrate? Ages? Gender?
I would want to do something that everyone involved would enjoy.

After having to eat my own cooking all these years, dinner made by someone else is such a treat.
