We had a Disney December, Bahamian Xmas, NYC NYE and then some!! COMPLETED!

Awesome !

I did read about the very disappointed cruisers after the Star Wars cruise. We couldn't do any of those cruises due to our timings, but the cruise we were on was very Star Wars filled anyway so we were very happy.

Super Hero HQ - Marvel

Next was to Super Hero HQ which is Disneyland’s Marvel area. Here the Cast Member are dressed as SHIELD agents.
DSC_0214_zpszoiketle.jpg

You may have noticed DS (and myself) wearing quite a few Marvel shirts. Marvel is another of our shared interests from the movie & TV world.

Here there was lots of Ironman suits and props from other Marvel movies. Many of the Ironman suits right back to Mark 1. There was movie props and costumes, posters also

There was an interactive attraction “Become Ironman”. You stand in front of a large screen and camera with sensors and you have the Ironman suit superimposed over your body. Then you get to do various actions to test out the suit and finally take a virtual fly around on screen shooting at things.

They also have this on the Disney Magic cruise ship, in Avengers Academy, though I think the graphics are slightly different from what I have seen on Youtube but the concept all the same. I did take a video of DS doing it, but it was one of the first videos I took with my new dSLR and I didn’t get the focus right. So it’s quite blurry so didn't upload…next time I’ll do better!

The entry for this attraction was set out a little odd. There is a large open area behind where the person is “being Ironman” most people come up there and look to start a line. Then the CM tells them no you have to go around and walk through a really oddly placed corridor and wait there till the person has finished. It really isn’t signed that I could see. Probably something they could make a little easier for people as while DS was doing it, the CM must have told about 6 people that they need to go around to the hidden corridor.

Meet & Greet Thor & Spiderman

Next was a meet a greet for Thor, but much to DW disappointment, it was not Mr Hemsworth. Before you get to meet Thor there is a waiting area which has various props from the movies which for Marvel fans was pretty neat to see. They make the whole experience quite theatrical, with the calling of Odin (Thor & Loki's father) to open the “Bifrost”, some smoke (no mirrors) and then the appearance of the Asgardian God himself. DS got to hold Mjolnir (Thor’s hammer for the non Marvel fans!).

Next we moved on to wait for Spiderman. They used to have Captain America here, but the CM had said that he was out on a mission and had been for a few months so Spidey stepped in to fill in. Spiderman was good we had a good chat to him, they all seem amazed that we would come all the way over from Australia, like it takes 3 months to get there or something! lol

World of Color ( Carthay Circle Reserved viewing area)

As I posted earlier, we went to Carthay Circle and had the World of Color Package and this gave us entry to a reserved area. I wasn’t really sure what this was going to mean. If it was going to be the same area as the Fastpasses which had been our experience for some other show (Fantasmic!). We went early, about 30 mins before the show. We were really surprised, it really was a reserved area and a separate one for Carthay Circle. Here is a photo of the area, we were standing pretty much in the middle of the left hand side area as you look at the photo.

WOC2a_zpsmujtr7jg.jpg

While we waited there was an app you could download and play some games on where you had to match the colours of the Mickey Wheel with the image on the app. It passed a bit of time for DS, but he soon got over it. A very nice couple we were standing behind let DS move in front so he could see better without looking over them.

I didn’t actually take to many pictures during World of Color I was actually just watching and enjoying it. Here are some of the best ones I did take while waiting and during.

Great trip report! Loving all the photos :D

Really enjoying this one still, thank you, it is bringing back so many memories.

Thanks, I'm glad you both are! It's fun reliving it and looking at all the photos and video again. It's still quite fresh but some detail I've forgotten already so I'm glad I'm trying to put down as much as I can so I can share with others now and look back on it in the future.

Storyteller's Cafe & Toon Town

We started the day with breakfast at Storyteller’s Café. We hadn’t been here for breakfast before and it was a character dining. We got to meet Chip & Dale, Brer Fox & Meeko. We were all a little underwhelmed by the characters. We were a little embarrassed also that we didn’t know who Meeko was, so had to google him, he is of course from Pocahontas! Breakfast itself was a buffet with a very large selection of fresh fruit and the usual hot food selections. They also had an omelette station with a chef preparing one to your liking.

We made our way over to Toontown to visit Mikey & Minnie at their houses. This was the first place we visited when we went to Disneyland in 2010 , so we were kind of reminiscing when DS was just 7. Though Minnies house was being repaired in 2010 so this was the first time we actual saw it.

Outlets & Steakhouse 55

Day 4 was a non park day. We decided we would go to one of the outlet malls, much to DS disappointment! We decided to go to The Outlets at Orange.

Screen%20Shot%202016-02-12%20at%209.21.46%20PM_zps8nfpd4rd.png

We knew there were bigger outlets to go to but this one had all the stores we were interested in, was close by, only 10mins away and we hadn’t been there before so suited us. We just caught a taxi from the hotel. The driver gave us his number to call when we were ready to come back, just told us to give him 30mins notice.

There was a Johnny Rockets at the “mall” and we went there for lunch. Reason I mentioned it is that you might remember that the JR they had in AU, and the ones I've seen in LA before had the jukebox at each table where you put in a quarter or a nickel and choose a song. Well this one had a tablet at each table where you selected a song and it played both the song & video. You also used the tablet to order and to pay, so the only time the server came out was to tell you about it and to bring you your food. We still had to tip LOL

IMG_1543_zpss2oznh59.jpg

Dinner we went to Steakhouse 55 at Disneyland hotel. We were a little disappointed with this. My son is a real steak eater and he ordered the rib eye on the bone. It said it came with a “rub” and the server said that it wasn’t spicy, but we asked for it to be “light on the rub” anyway it came out, and first it was HUGE. Now DS normally eats a full size steak without too much trouble, but this was massive. The rub was still very prominate and certainly was spicy so he really could eat it. We had to swap meals. I would have liked the server to warn us how big it was given it was ordered for a 12yo. The highlight of the night was definitely the dessert. The Crème Brulee was delicious.

After dinner we wandered around DTD for a while and then headed back to our room.

Day 4 Done!

Is getting reservations at DL as tricky as getting them at WDW? I want to do Blue Bayou one night as well. Is it a 'book the day reservations open' type prospect?

Day 5 Plaza Inn, Castle, Mickey & Walt

Today was a pretty big day, for us at least and certainly at least from looking back on all the photos. We started the day with breakfast at Plaza Inn with Minnie and friends. This was another character dining experience we had not done before. We booked this one about a month out from our trip.

We got to meet a few characters we hadn’t seen before Capt Hook, who was very tall and Max, (Goofy’s son) There was also the fairy Godmother who we had never seen before. DS wasnt too keen on getting his photo with her and she kept coming back around and saying hello top him which was kind of funny. Breakfast was the usual buffet fare along with an egg cooking station & chef.

After breakfast we walked around, we saw the Duck, Donald (or Daffy as I often call him – this started out as an honest mistake, but has turned into a running family joke!) Donald was in his Christmas sweater looking very festive. We had some photos taken at the end of Main st in front of the castle and Walt & Mickey statues.

We love Minnie's breakfast at the Plaza Inn. We tried Goofys, but it's just nothing on Minnie's. I love the interactions we had at Minnie's. I fell in love with Pinochio there.
I love all of your photos. I wish mine came out even half as nice.

More great pics. I haven't seen many of the Jingle Cruse overlay before so that was fun to see. Marvel looks fun to see all the props and M&G even though I am less of a fan than some others - DH likes Ironman. We never quite got into Antman but we will have to see Cumberbatch as Dr Strange of course. You have me convinced we will do a package when we end up seeing WoC (one day!).

Total agree, Plaza Inn was a great character dining breakfast. We didn't see Pinocho at all, though seeing Max was nice bonus we thought. Goofy's Kitchen was a let down for characters.

I'm glad you like the photos !

Jingle/Jungle Cruise is just one of those things I think. When I'm on it I wonder why given how corny it is, but then looking back on it I'm glad i do it.

Marvel was great and being fans we get a lot of enjoyment out of it. Antman is one of DS favourite movies at the moment.

WoC was great, and the dining package gave us a hassle free viewing experience, though stay tuned for my next lot of WoC photos from a spot we got on the bridge!
