beaches and cream.... how is the food?

After 14 years of visits, I finally went last year. It was not bad, but it is not on my future to-do list. The place is very small; if you are at a table (not a booth) you get bumped a lot when people walk by. The burgers are better than something like Cosmic Ray's, but still not anything that great. The onion rings are good and the desserts are fun and huge.

I've never been to Beaches & Cream but want to try it this year. To be honest, I've never had ice cream in Disney World (besides the included dessert at dinner with the DDP). Is there a walk up counter at Beaches & Cream to grab a sundae?

There's a to-go window, but the sundaes offered at it are basic. They do not offer any of the specialty sundaes there that you can get in the restaurant. I would either make an ADR at Beaches & Cream and go just for ice cream, or take your chances getting a seat at the counter in the restaurant which is first come first served.

But we both love chocolate so we'd be ok with that! seriously the patty melt is what I was thinking of! the two big questions: did the rye have seeds and do you think they'd sub cheddar for swiss? yes i am a little bit of a fusspot!

You could probably get the patty melt on a roll without seeds but do they even have cheddar on the menu to substitute?

I could cope with the seeds but not my preference. they have cheddar on the burger.

Then I would think they would substitute the cheese for you.

They must have gotten much better. Years ago, when we were staying at the BWV, I sent DH over to carry out burgers for us (I must have called in the order - forget how? Back before MDE app or smartphones, LOL). The burgers honestly sucked. They were soggy and not very good, but we were hungry so ate them. For the cost, DH said it was such a waste. We haven't been back since.

I do think the burgers at Sci Fi are amazing though - and reasonable!

We LOVED the food here! Twice had a huge chef salad- split between two adults, and shared a Milky Way sundae. Plenty of food and absolutely the best salad I've ever had at Disney. And my son, who is a burger lover- has requested to go back. We though the prices were great there considering the portions were so large we split things. And I second asking ( waiting if you can) for a booth. Its pretty tight in there, if that matters to you.

I went there last October with my DS10. While the rest of our party stayed in the MK for our Crystal Palace reservation, we were done with the rain and wanted a break at the hotel. I was able to book an ADR on the bus back to BCV. We really enjoyed it. It was nice to have a meal at a small, casual place with just the two of us. The food was good, definitely a better quality than QS, and he loved his sundae.
