Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

This does not sound good...

Ha! It's not THAT bad, just mostly frustrating more than anything else. But, on the bright side ... I finally have a waiver with my name on it! Of course, you can't find it in the system anywhere, so that's kinda concerning. But at least I won't be showing up to the Expo completely "empty handed".

I am a redhead who has a blonde daughter and a brunette daughter.

My brother (blonde) and SIL (brunette) have a redheaded son! I love genetics!

I hit my "race weight" goal today! Down 10 lbs since January 1st! And, the race weekend weather forecast still looks promising!

I wish I could say the same. I've been throwing around the same two pounds for over a month. I think I'm loosing inches...but the weight? Yeah, not so much. I don't have a bad diet, in fact, I should probably eat more. It would be nice if your scale sent my scale the weight loss memo :p

Does your scale prefer email or fax? :)

Seriously, DH and I have been fanatics about logging food and exercise in the Lose It app. I think I ate too little some days and too much other days, which likely confused my metabolism.

Now, it is nice and steady and I hit my calorie allotment every day.

My friend lives in Dayton and she just reminded me of something... Princess weekend is also race weekend. Those of us driving will likely hit traffic and lots of it.

"Also be prepared to maybe hit race traffic here. The 500 is Sunday the 21st and we've got the Duels on Thursday the 18th and all those lovely races in between. The cops will be heavy in this area."

I was thinking about that the other day. That's where my cousin lives, and the rest of the family was talking about driving to Orlando on the 21st to pick her up and visit. Is that going to be just awful? And driving back home that evening?

Genetics talk. Off topic!

I think we will continue to surprise people! ;) Neither of my parents have red hair. My dad has fair skin, but brown hair. My mom has olive skin and VERY dark brown hair. My grandma said she wanted a redheaded granddaughter for her birthday. My mom thought she was a crazy lady and there was no way. Well, sure enough grandma got her wish! I have a cousin on my dad's side whose hair is literally identical to mine! Red and curly! My mom's dad supposedly had red hair, as did her sister, but they both passed away before I was born so like you, no color pictres to show for it. I have two boys that are mine biologically and both have brown hair. But I feel like we redheads are in a special club of awesomeness! I just read an article about how grerat redheads are...it was quite the boost! :rotfl:

:)

I love all the different shades of red hair. And my son has a "smile" shape of hair on the back of his head that's either brown or a really brownish red. It's really cool. Oh and he has amber eyes. Pale like me until he gets into the sunshine, and then he goes utterly golden, even though repeat applications of SP 30. With a few freckles. (while I turn pinker and pinker)

It seems to come from the grandparent level. You got it from those "above" you, so it might show back up in your grandchildren depending on the families they marry into. And whoever(s) gave you your red gave your brother something recessive that linked up with something recessive in his wife, and voila!

I am a red head and I remind my sister all the time that it is a recessive gene and her kids could be redheads. I get it from my dads side and if yo are at a family reunion you can tell that the red head gene is on that side. It has seemed to skip him and all of his cousins but myself and about 5 or 6 of his cousins kids have red hair.

It's like they are the Weasleys. :)

The first time I was in Ireland we stayed at a B&B that was just an extra couple rooms in a family's home. They had 8 kids, ages all the way from 7 years old to just graduating with a Masters in Business. The graduate (who was visiting, and with whom I fell in LOVE instantly) had the "Black Irish" look with the black hair, pale skin, blue eyes... The 7 year old looked like Ginny Weasley (though that character hadn't made it onto paper yet). The pictures of the kids in between showed hair in varying shades of blond and brown. Ah, Irish genetics. :)

I used to use this years ago! I had forgotten about it.
Just downloaded it again and logged what I ate today. Holy smokes batman! Way under calories. And that's before any exercise. Plus, apparently, my diet is not a good balance- I need to work on my protein situation.

Thanks for mentioning this!

If you have a camera/phone camera, will they take a pic for you at the character stops (like the regular disney photopass) or will the photographers only use their own camera? If I understand correctly it's a different company, so will not show up in your memory maker etc...

MarathonFoto will take photos with a real camera (similar to PhotoPass, but it's not Disney) - but there are always at least one or two character "greeters" that will be on hand to take cell phone/P&S camera pictures for you.

I'm sorry about that! I wish it was a different weekend too. I don't drive in, but I do want to watch the race!

I'm sorry for everyone who is sick! If you haven't gotten it yet, Zicam, Emergen-C and lots of hand sanitizer. That usually works for me when I am in an incubator for disease at work.

In other news...I finally got my deferral confirmation. Thanks for lett me know when would have been too late to do anything about it!

So I just noticed that the event guide says that the Magic Kingdom will open at 8am on Saturday. Disney website says 9. I know the park has opened at 8am on Saturday in the past. Is this a change we can count on? I've got a BOG breakfast reservation at 8am that I'd probably cancel if it is no longer pre-RD.

It still says 9am on the Disney website. I'd be curious if they do change it.

Thankfully we can avoid some of the Daytona traffic. My parents are just west of there so we can get off before the I-95/I-4 interchange and take back roads to avoid the mess. Going home on Monday may be an issue though since everyone will be leaving the race area. My husband says that if we leave early enough, we will beat the traffic since they will all be hungover and sleeping in. LOL!

For those of you who got the capris at other races, about how much did they cost?
And does anyone know about how much the 13.1 magnet will be?

So over this week - CAN I GO TO MICKEY'S HOUSE NOW?!?!?! I work in 4 schools and this stomach thing that is going through the school system is no joke... I want to stop going into classrooms and having meetings RIGHT NOW! How cool would I look rolling down the hall in a bubble, or better yet, how cool would my own kids look in a bubble?? I don't want your cooties for Valentine's THANKS!

My wife works at a school, and she said she's been surrounding herself with a cloud of Lysol lately. Not to mention covering her body with a full inch of Purell. Meanwhile, at home, we have 2 cats whose primary goal in life is to trip us as we walk down the stairs.

We've definitely entered the paranoia stretch of training!

I think everyone would understand! I am fortunate to have one of those kids who rarely gets sick but when he does, I'm guaranteed to get it right behind him. I went into watch the Jump Rope for Heart today and parents asked if I was going to jump too. Um, nope... got to keep all my body parts healthy and in tact until after Saturday morning!
