Hello all.

I am hoping you can help me. I cannot decide between AKV savannah view studio or Poly standard view.
I plan on renting points and will only be staying for two nights. 13th-15th September.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks!

Depends on what you are doing while there. I own at both and love them both but if you are planning a MK/Epcot visit then the Poly.
If you are planning a relaxation visit, I'd probably go with AKL as there is still some construction going on at Poly that may detract.

I'm personally a poly fan but not an akv fan. Do you plan on having a car? We did not like how isolated akv was and did not have a car... We felt stuck there. Everyone is different though, so I'm sure you'll have fun no matter where you go!

We will have a car yes.
I think I like poly for the close proximity to MK.

I also like AK as the animals are right outside! And it's a unique experience

Is there enough place at poly to watch the fireworks on the beach now that the bungalows have gone up?

It's going to be a surprise for the gf so it's not like I can ask her either!!

Personally I'd go with AKV, but that's just because I'm not a huge fan of the Poly. It is very kid friendly and can get noisy. It may be a moot point anyway, have you already checked to see if any points are available?

I did an availability check through a rental company... However the 7 month period has not opened yet (tomorrow) so doesn't give a true reflection of avalibility.
I know ultimately that my choice may be dependant on what's available, but I still have to let the rental company know a 1st and 2nd choice.

Ultimately I would be happy with either. It's just which I prefer more.

AK at 7 months should be more than doable. Poly? I'd think good chance there too.

They are entirely different experiences, though both are amazing! It's really depends on your preferences. The theming at AKV is truly magical... IMO, nothing compares to having a glass of wine or a cup of coffee on your balcony overlooking the savanna! The restaurants are fantastic, but the transportation is a bit lacking compared to other resorts. On the other hand, the Poly offers great proximity to MK and Epcot, as well as the feeling of being in a tropical paradise and special views of the fireworks. Overall, you will probably find that AKV is more relaxing and the Poly more convenient. Honestly, you can't go wrong either way!

I am also tempted by the lake view at the poly to be able to watch the fireworks in the evenings from the balcony. I would hate to get a 1st floor studio though with a view of the bungalows! I don't know if it's worth the risk!
The poly seems to be like marmite! Some people love it, and other not so much haha!

If I do go for AKV I will then have to choose between Jambo and Kidani! Does anyone have any preferences?

To me it'd be driven by what I was doing for parks and restaurants, even with a car. For no parks and no restaurants that mattered, I'd go AKV but based on personal choice. If going to MK, I'd go with the Poly. If not MK but other resorts, I'd make different choices completely or go with AKV.

I completely agree with this statement. Both are wonderful resorts. They are very different and satisfy different wants and needs. I have stayed at both. AKV is a bit isolated, even with a car. AKV is a vacation all by itself. My family loved it! PVB is in a great location with much easier access to to two parks and other resorts. Again, my family loved it. The best thing to do is to figure what you want to do/achieve/experience this vacation and pick the resort that will fit it best.

If you want animals - I'd say Kidani. The views are slightly better IMHO. some may disagree here with me though. Kidani is not as grand and there is no quick service so you'd have to walk to Jambo for that. I personally like the pool better at Kidani and the rooms are slightly larger.
Jambo is more grand. More restaurant options and night time viewing of animals is better there. They are only about a half mile walk from one another and they do offer a shuttle service between the two.

At Poly there is no promise of a balcony view for fireworks. I've watched them from the beach there. Better views at WL beach in my opinion.

I totally agree with these two post. We find Kidani more relaxing than Jambo, plus lots of animals on the savannah.

Perfectly stated! Kidani is more intimate and generally offers better views of the animals. We also prefer the pool there. If we're going with a studio, however, we do tend to choose Jambo because it is more grand - plus we love the quick service, the bar and the activity. One other thing to consider is that the park busses (with the exception of Downtown Disney) stop at Kidani first, so you have a much better chance of getting a seat in the morning.

We did a split stay last summer at these 2 resorts. It was our first trip to Disney World. My husband preferred Poly, but my 2 boys loved AKL. I loved them both equally.

Thank you everyone for your help!
I have decided to go for the Lake View at the Poly. Mainly because the GF is a massive fan of MK and wishes, and not as much of an animal fan.

I am now just waiting for MNSSHP dates so I can book a stay over the dates to watch fireworks.
