Is Animal Kingdom worth it?

Is Animal Kingdom worth it?

Yes,,do it !

then go fishing behind the Meadows Trading Post at the pond, :thumbsup2

Well IMO since you asked.

No it's not worth it.

Khali. Dino. Safari. Everest.

Not worth $100 per adult in round numbers (my kids are adults to Dis so that is 5 adults. No freakin way).

We havent been back to to AK since like 05.

I mean, since you asked and all. :rockband:

We love Animal Kingdom. It is beautiful, great rides and shows, and great opportunity to see the animals. The CMs are knowledgable and interact with the kids teaching about the animals and their habits. Actually, it is just like the other parks in Disney - it is way more than rides and spending time enjoying all the park has to offer makes it a rich experience.

Different strokes for different folks....but I think you should at least go once. I didn't catch the month you're going, but I have to say I find this park to be the HOTTEST park in the summer. The first few times we went this was our least favorite park - mainly due to the issues with the heat as it's hard to get a reprieve from it. The last time we went, it rained which made it cooler and crowds were less - and we had a great time and stayed until it closed. We like "Festival of the Lion King", "Nemo", the train ride to the Conservation Station, camp Minnie/Mickey....

I think that Animal Kingdom grows on you. And, I also think that Animal Kingdom needs to be approached in a different way than the rest of the Disney parks. I remember the first time we visited Animal Kingdom, I walked away thinking, "I wasted a day on this?" But then I read a review by someone who said that when visiting Animal Kingdom you need to SLOW DOWN. And, so, next visit we tried it. We did our usual rush to get fast passes/get on the rides we really want to see early in the morning, kind of thing, but then we slowed down, relaxed, and LOOKED at at the park. And, discovered the details in this park. And, now, we often spend two days here.

AK is our favorite park. The safari is different every time. The shows are wonderful, including Flights of Wonder. Pangani and Jungle Trek are a treat, too. As many have mentioned, it's a perfect place to slow down and really look. There are street performances all over the park, some very unique, like DeVine. We love Dinosaur, Everest, Tough to be a Bug, Kali River Rapids. The barbeque place is our favorite counter service and Tusker House is terrific. It makes me sad when I see people just plod through without stopping to look at anything, convinced that it's just a zoo. It's a very special theme park with beautiful animal displays, excellent attractions, and a more relaxed vibe that makes a nice break from the over-stimulation of MK and EPCOT.

We love Animal Kingdom! It's not going to be everyone's favorite, because it's a park that rewards exploring, and most people at a theme park want ride-ride-ride-food-show-go-go-GO! However, I would seriously say go there. It WAY better than the disaster that is Hollywood Studios at the moment.

I too like Animal Kingdom.

It's obviously not everyone's cup of tea. I truly like nature and I like the rides. It's tough for me to go to AK though because the rest of the family doesn't always want to spend the time there like I do.

IF I was only there 3 days I would skip Animal Kingdom because I like the other parks better but as a 4th day option it isnt too bad . Sometimes the other parks are busier and its nice to go to Animal Kingdom have space and do some different attactions . Also since your staying on property it gives you a night to enjoy your resort or maybe have a nice meal with the family somewhere . When the fireworks are set off the Beach at Fort Wilderness aint bad to view the Fireworks.

I've never visited, but for many reasons, I am looking forward to this park the most. But, we are a bunch of nature lovers, so that may make a difference as well.

Yes, we love it. Combines both things we love, animals and rides! They are expanding to add another section based on the Avatar movie with new rides and attractions. Also adding a night time laser fireworks show over the lake. Looking forward to the expanded hours once that is open.

Yes the expanded hours will be nice, will finally be able to get some nighttime pictures there, which I think will be really cool.

Love it! It's our second favourite park . . . after MK!

It's not full of thrill rides, it's full of animals, natural spectacles and real life experiences.

Seeing a lion or a giraffe in a cartoon is quite different than seeing a live one! :)

The dinosaur ride and the everest are a lot of fun. If you have little kids go to camp minnie/mickey early

1) As a note:
. . . Dino is a violent ride with lots of sudden movements - a bad back or neck gets worse on this ride
. . . Camp-Minnie-Mickey is bye-bye
2) However, some of the good stuff are:
. . . Tough to be a Bug (show)
. . . Festival of the Lion King (live show)
. . . Safari (vehicle trek through the savannahs)
. . . Expedition Everest (decent family roller coaster)
. . . Pangani Forrest Trail (animal exploration)

It's a great place to meet Pocahontas! (She's a hot mama!)

Rusty Scupper covered all the good stuff to do in AK. We usually go every other visit and enjoy each item he listed. And ,,,, Scupper noted that Camp Minnie Mickey is gone. True. Some reference to taking the train to Camp Minnie Mickey were posted in 2011. The beginning of this thread is a few years old. Enjoy DAK!

Like others have said Different strokes for different folks. For my wife and I AK has become a favorite destination. She doesn't care for the thrill rides ie Dinosaur and EE or Primeval Whirl but I do. Live action shows Finding Nemo and FOLK are must do at least once and Flights of Wonder is worth catching if we arrive during preshow. ITTBAB is something we try to hit every visit. It provides a great excuse to walk around and explore the carvings in the Tree of Life. Safari is a FP attraction unless we go late in the day. Rafiki's Planet watch is best early in the day if we want to see the vet procedures for the day. Both walking trails see us on and in them for several hours.
Mostly we enjoy walking around checking out all the areas with the animals in them

YES! It honestly is one of our favorite parks! Because we left early and it was raining the last trip on the AK day, we promised our kids it would be the first park we visit (aside from hitting MK for the check in day).

The rides are fun and the shows are great. GO SEE THE BATS!

Hah.... This is good for anyone looking for recent opinion, but seems no one actually asked and we are responding to old inquiries...lol... I have been fooled a whole bunch of times recently because I NEVER look at the originating post date...apparently I do not learn from this repeated oversight :sad2:

I think a lot of us answered out of shear nostalgia...or, at least I did.
