How to make a Room Request

We have a one bedroom at SSR and my husbands parents are renting a studio villa also at SSR

It is possible for them to connect but typically those are booked as 2 bedroom lock offs. So if 2 bedroom lock offs are sold out, it might not be possible.

One exception to not requesting room numbers is VGC. I'm sitting in a 1 bedroom right now watching World of Color. My request was listing the 5 room numbers out of the 23 1 bedrooms that have good park views. Second time it has worked. The trip before that I requested "park view" and we faced the woods.

When I first started considering VGC for our November trip I was doing research and stumbled upon some great images that showed the DVC rooms with WoC views. I want to submit a room request, but I can no longer find that graphic. Is there somewhere you can point me to get the room numbers I am looking for? We have a 2BR, not sure what my options are for views.

Also, would you actually suggest against this view if the noise would bother sleepers? We are east coasters who hope to stay on EST because we will be there for races which will have us up at 4 am local which is 7 am EST. But, if WoC would keep us up at night, perhaps its a bad choice?

WOC ran at 9:00 and 10:15 when I was there. If you had a park view, it would most likely wake you up. We were not asleep yet.

Like Deb said not all resorts have connecting studios. At SSR a 1 bed and a studio would be a 2 bedroom lockout. Several resorts have that. I just booked for a family that is renting from me 3 studios and they automatically noted the reservations to be near each other, they did not request adjoining.
The person you rented from may have meant that requests are not guaranteed because they are not. They are treated as a request but you are not promised you will get it. If you needed a one bedroom with a connecting studio, seems booking a 2 bedroom lockout would have been the way to go.

Unfortunately when I first booked our room we were just going the 4 of us; but then the more we thought about it the more it sounded like a better idea to have family along to help with our son as he has medical issues. We are going in Feb which is a slower time. My husband's parents are going with us. It's noted on their resi they are traveling with us and need a room by ours due to medical needs I guess I should contact the owner I rented from and ask to have the same note added to ours and the grandparents confirmation #. Again I know there is no way it can be guaranteed but hopefully at least our rooms are close.

I have made our room request in November for SSR through a call to MS. (2 rooms near each other, Grandstand)

Now, am I better off doing online check in or just checking in at the resort the day of? Our airplane is scheduled to get in at 10AM, so we should be there fairly early.

I am afraid if I do online check in, it will delete my requests made with MS.

I know the lead post says faxes are obsolete, but Touring Plans' automatic faxes seem to get great reviews. Has anyone tried using this service from Touring Plans for a DVC reservation?

Room requests listed on your reservation is all that is required. The room assigner has a hundred or more reservations each day to deal with. Taking time to read faxes causes delays, at VWL I was told that faxed requests go straight to the trash can.

That's really helpful! Thanks.

I usually call with our room requests but decided to email for this time (wanted to request some specific villa numbers at the Poly & didn't want to overwhelm the CM on the phone). I don't USUALLY get so specific - and it's usually a real crap shoot if we get anything close to what we've requested so I thought it was worth trying for once. I emailed last Thursday. Waiting to see how long it takes to get a confirmation in return... If it works tho this may be my go-to method. Guess we'll find out in June.

I was woken up at 2AM once ... not due to noise, but lights! They were apparently testing new scenes for World of Color: Winter Dreams while we were staying there, and it was quite bright. I was entranced, but I would have found it more delightful if it hadn't been 2AM. To be fair, I'm a light sleeper (it didn't wake my wife at all), and we didn't close the blackout blinds.

I rented points from a member who very graciously agreed to call with our room request. I swear I read on this site that once you have called into member services with your request, that you should NOT do online check in, because doing so can wipeout the called in request. Can anyone verify if that is true?

Posts have indicated the online check in requests will overide MS requests, I have not tested that observation.

I do know that online check in gains you nothing IMO, after testing 20 times or so. Online check in was made for Disney cash reservations so Disney could process more people in a shorter time to reduce CM's and costs. Just think of the benefit when a couple of hundred people are checking in for a convention and they all did online check in instead of waiting at the front desk.

Thanks, Bill. So you recommend doing nothing online before the reservation and just checking in at the front desk when you arrive?

Doesn't online check in give you the chance that they could text you your room number before you arrive, therefore making it so you could bypass the front desk and go directly to your room?

Even if that is the case, I think I will just do normal check in on arrival day at the front desk. The chance of getting our room request is more important than getting a text.

If you have a room request, I would add it to your reservation and not do online check in. Ask the CM at the front desk if your request was filled, they will attempt to make your wishes come true. They can text you when your room is ready, check your MB, add a credit card for room charging.

IMO online check in and direct to room may speed things up for guest and Disney but it removes part of the experience.

Our room request was fulfilled; we got a our studio and one bedroom connecting. The CM that checked us in was super helpful.

Thank you so much for putting all your threads together DVC Mike!! They are so helpful I have them book marked to find them easily!! Excellent resources.

We like online check in; as we completely bypassed the front desk and that line and went directly to our room. I do not feel it had any affect on our requests.
