February 2016 Pre-trip and Trip Reports

First off, the doughnut is as big as he is. He eat the whole thing?

Secondly, with that sweater your mom should have been teaching the Japanese guy to say "Roll Tide!"

Thirdly, tell your dad I agree about the oysters. I'll take mine fried.

did your mom by any chance make the pearl into a necklace? and if so, can we see it?

many inquiring minds want a sneak peak....b/c we are super curious as to what they look like!

Michael, I had to help him out a little bit with his doughnut, his eyes where bigger than his stomach. It was really good.

We'll my dad likes raw oysters so you might can imagine what he said everytime they threw one away. Growing up in the seafood industry like we have, it's hard to see it wasted mostly because of the hard work involved in it. It anyone says that they hate their job, I always say "Go and catch oysters for a living, you'll be glad to have the job you have". But I had to laugh at my dad, he said that a sack of oysters in the Shell sell anywhere between $40 to $60 for a 70lbs sack, here they sell them for $50 a oyster, that means a sack of them would be $15,000 to $20,000! He's something else, remember this is their first Disney trip, so he's is a little overwhelm.

Mtnminnie, yes she made it made into a necklace, I'll post a picture of it ASAP. It looks pretty good.

Randy - The one thing about the pearl Oysters in the Japan pavilion is they are from a high volume pearl farm. Generally these oysters are not edible (at least do not taste all that good) and not all pearl grafts take (which is why you see them shuck so many and toss them.) It is some interesting reads on it and yes, its Disney so you know they make a profit. But I think the cost per bushel of farmed pearl oyster is a little more since there is a little more too it.

The donuts in Canada are great, but I always stop just past Canada for a Croissant Doughnut. Love them.

Down to 3 days to departure!!!!! Last night I had to work later then I thought and did not get home until 8pm. So I took care of a few things around the house and got to sleep. I am working in my WV office today. Once I get done here I plan to run a whole bunch of errands on the way home. Stop at the barber and get a trim, go food shopping for the perishables and breads. And once I get home it will be tome to give the dogs a bath. I had planned to do that last night but getting home as late as I did I just wanted to relax and then get to sleep. Either way the fluffy one should be completely dry by tomorrow as she takes the longest. If she will let me I may run the hair dryer on her for a little bit since it will be a little cold.

On the way out this morning I did stop and completely fuel up the truck main and aux tank. At this point I expect to just have to top off the main tank Friday after work and I won't open the aux tank valve until we hit the road Saturday morning. I plan to get hitched up Friday night so that all that has to be done Saturday morning is warm up the truck and pull the power and wheel chocks on the camper before we hit the road. I still have a decent list of things to cross off before I can feel more relaxed, but I feel like we can definitely be packed and ready to go without being up late on Friday.

Keep sending in the reports! I can't wait to join you.

Had a good day over at MK, we just came back to the camper for a quick supper and a break then headed back for extra magic hours tonight, the only problem was that when we left, the monorail and ferries wasn't in service just buses.

Knocked something off my bucket list today, I got my hair cut today at the barber shop inside MK.

Here's my proof,

Not too bad considering it's Disney.

Ohh we rode Tiggerdad's favorite ride,

Everyone sign along, "It's a small world after all", let that get stuck in your head...
Ok folks about to head back to the parks, looking forward to the Fort day tomorrow, my feet hurt.

Cool. I was considering getting a haircut this trip too. No glitter hairspray, though! Excellent.

Kept having people walk in and say "is this a real barber shop?" I said no were all fake people in here. One fella actually reached out and touched my knee to see if I was real or not. Too funny, the lady said "that happens all day long". Headed back now, just a note for future information, if the winds get a about 25 mph they shut down the boats, I just asked the captain,

J, good luck with the hair dryer, mine won't stand for it, and it is so cold. Mallory always needs a bath but she won't get a full bath till I can put her in the baby pool in the summer.

Randy, barber shop looks fun, too bad Bert is bald no reason to go.

Hope the weather gets better or less windy and rainy.

That's funny.

I had seen this article on the DIS back in November: http://www.wdwinfo.com/walt-disney-world/how-does-a-magic-kingdom-haircut-sound/ so I'll be there next month to ask for the "Randy Special" but withOUT the beard trim.

Well down to a week left to pack, fuel everything up and hit the road. Then it is time for vacation pics and some relaxation. Hope this time we get our requested loop and looking forward to some warmer weather.

Our view on our way back over to the MK earlier. Nice night other than the cold temps.

My mom got a kick out of this parade, I think we sold her on Disney, I've hear her start some sentences with, "when we come back..." A few times so it's all good, we've all had a great time, now we have two days here at the Fort, time to kick back and relax.

Oh P.S. we have 4 fast passes to some rides at MK, Space Mountain broke down just as we were getting ready to board it, so they gave us fast passes to mostly anything in MK but Mine Train and Peter Pan, if anyone coming in the next few days wants them let me know, I will check into leaving them at the from desk. They don't expire til 2/29. Hate to see them go to waste.

Leaving for Fort Wilderness in 2 days. I don't know who's more excited, me or the kids (4 and 7). So much great information here. Thanks for sharing it.

Woohoo for my first post!

Welcome there BeardedAnt, glad we could help out. Please, feel free to post some information about yourself and your camping gear and family. We always like to get to know people and invite you to participate in any of the discussions. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

As I stand in line for Peter Pan Flight, I wonder, what would Walt say if he could see it all now?

Randy, everybody knows Walt would look around, put his hands in his pockets, smile, and say...

Roll Tide!

P.S.
Good on you for offering up the fastpasses for somebody to use. I almost want to forgive you now for putting that infernal song into my head...but I just can't.

If no one else takes you up on it, we would gladly take the FP's as we will be in on the 22nd.
