Question about Disney Springs for Handicapped People

We were there in Nov. 2015 and unfortunately between the chaos of the traffic and parking, etc., we were not able to go to Disney Springs. We have one person in our family that has to use a motorized scooter and we couldn't find a handicap parking spot and with the traffic and construction it was very confusing. We will be going back in the Fall 0f 2016 and I'd like some input from anyone who has been recently with a handicapped person. Maybe you could give us some insight or pointers so that we could visit D.S. this trip. We were so disappointed last time since we love to shop there and usually have a few meals there as well.

Are you staying at one of the WDW resorts?

If so, you can take the bus from any resort or the boat from Old Key West, Saratoga or Port Orleans resorts.

If you are parking, I would suggest either the ramp or the surface lot near Cirque du Soleil

The Cirque lot is really hard to get into right now, as you can't make a left-turn into the lot =\

I have a similar issue. My mom is handicapped and on oxygen and can't walk long (or even medium) distances.

How far of a walk is it from handicapped parking to the Boathouse?

I'm staying at AKL so she could come to the hotel and then we could take the bus, but that still leaves a question about how far of a walk it is.

That brings up a good point - things are changing quickly.
We usually came into the area where we could do a right turn.

the Boathouse is sort of between the West Side and the original area, so quite far from both the parking (any parking) or the buses.
Have you thought of a wheelchair or ECV for her?
She will almost certainly need one.

Disney Springs is huge - and getting bigger. You need to think of it as pretty much a shopping "theme park" IMO, and plan accordingly. The parking lots are getting replaced in part by garages, and so there will be a lot of walking around in there, and from there to the shops, no matter where the HP spots are.

Check out the area on Google maps :)
