can anyone help me with what room (area and floor) is the best to see giraffes? Does anyone have pics. Any help would be appreciated

Sunset is the only savannah at Kidani that has Giraffe on it so you definitely want to request that.

Sunset Savannah.
We were in a room on it but it was LONG walk since we were 2nd pod of rooms from the very end of the corridor. Here's just one shot from our room

We had that same great view. If you don't mind a walk - really you are at Disney - just say "Sunset Savannah" "Close to Elevator" and "Close to Transportation" That will get you on Sunset Savannah and see the Giraffe. They are AMAZING! On our last day I swear they ALL came out to play for us. Every animal was out and playful. It was amazing! We were 4th floor at the LAST elevator down the hallway. Hey, we walked it. Twice we drove and just parked downstairs and took the elevator up / down. Actually, just take the elevator down, and the walk to the bus stop is pretty close.

I have not really felt like I've wanted to stay at AKV, but after seeing these picture, I change my mind. So beautiful! Thanks for sharing!

Welcome. I never really wanted to stay there either, even with my love of zebras, giraffes etc, but after renting points a few years ago and that being one of the only resorts left besides SSR (savannah view only left at AKV's) for us to do, we took it because I really wanted to go and was intrigued. I will never ever regret that decision. It is now my favorite resort by far (other than VGF and Yacht Club). And will be one of my first choices to go back on a DVC stay. :lovestruc

I was very much like you. My daughter made the decision to give up 2 of our 4 nights at VGF to see what AK Savannah room would be like.
I was very annoyed when packing up to think I was moving from VGF to AK. I was shocked how much I loved the animals so close and every single thing about the resort....both Jambo & Kidani. Boma & Sanaa became real favorites. I thought the experience was wonderful.

I have stayed on the 1st floor and 3rd floor in Kidani both with sunset views - one to the right of the lobby and one to the far left. Both had excellent views of the giraffes.

The thing about the Giraffes in Kidani is as long as you have the sunset view, you won't have a 'bad' seat. They put the giraffe food up in the trees in a loop that the rooms are situated around. The giraffes are therefore encouraged (forced really if they want to eat) to work the entire loop for food.

that said, they GENERALLY put the food up starting from the far right of the hotel (standing in the lobby facing the sunset Savannah) to the far left, and the giraffes generally follow the same movement. So they usually hit the far right early in the morning and the far left later in the day and work the middle in between there. So think about when you are going to be in your rooms.

This is no guarantee. It's just from observation as someone who loves to watch the giraffes.

My new favorite, too! DH and I just came back from a couples only trip. We had been booked at Jambo, standard view studio because of our points left. Because of the Jambo renovation, we got upgraded to Kidani savanna view studio. We were in 7670 and loved the view! It was a very quiet room, but a LONG walk from the lobby, which I don't mind. Can't wait to take the kids back! We were able to enjoy the resort because we stayed 3 nights there and only went to the parks on one of the days.

(We stayed 3 nights at ASMu prior to moving to AKV, then moved to BLT for another 3 nights after our 3 at AKV.)

Reading this and a few other past threads about Kidani savanna view room requests. I don't care about being close to the lobby since we are planning to drive to the parks. But I do want to make sure we get the Sunset savanna for giraffes. Lower level would be nice to be more up close to the animals. But it sounds like all floors have good views. Should I request to be near an elevator then? What are we able to request when we do online check-in? Thanks!

It seems animals are "trained" to spend more time near the lobby, (but they do rotate feeding areas to encourage movement.)
There are multiple elevators along the hallways, but the elevators do go down to the "underground" parking.
Some people have complained that upper floors are more likely to just have a treetop view with an obscured animal view.
At check in I don't know if low floor is an option. There should be Sunset, near elevator, transportation, lobby and possibly high floor.

We were nowhere near the lobby and on the 4th floor at Kidani and could see perfectly fine and no where near seeing the roof/treetop view. Also, the roof is different at Kidani then it is at Jambo. The giraffes spent most of the day out by our room and again, we were nowhere near the lobby.

Looks like 2 requests only. I will choose Sunset Savanna for one. For the 2nd choice can't decide if I should opt for "near elevator" over "lower floor"...

This is exactly what we requested in December at Kidani. We loved it! Anyone have similar suggestions for Jambo House?
