Come on and Live the Magic! - Sept. 2015 Disneyland TR *Completed 9/6*!

Day 2 - World of Color

It was about 7:15 when we got off of the Little Mermaid so we went and got in line for World Of Color! I don't believe we waited long before being let in to the viewing area. We had our free choice of spots, so we decided on the top steps of the staircase in the section. It was nice
because we had a place to sit while we waited. We spent the time just admiring the view, and I also played the little fun wheel game they offer. Since it was our first time ever seeing WOC, I also spent a significant amount of time wondering if I picked an ok spot to watch the show. I thought I had read being on the stairs was good, but I second guessed myself...a lot :faint: I just wanted it to be perfect!

But I didn't need to worry because once the show started, I knew I made a good choice! We had a perfect view, and I don't know if this is typically common but our area had A LOT of free space. No one was on top of each other and there was plenty of room to spread out.

Now enjoy some WOC picture spam :)

The verdict? AMAZING!! Seeing this show on YouTube does not do it any justice. I didn't know what I was going to think of it but I absolutely fell in love with it and Mom also felt the same! It definitely made us emotional at times and we were just in awe when it was over. Moments like this are what really made this trip special. So much of this was brand new to us, so we were seeing/feeling things for the first time! I also want to say that the Wine Country WOC package was definitely worth it, at least for us. We got a delicious meal and great viewing for the show. I wouldn't hesitate to book this again!

And with that our night in the parks was over! We headed out of the park and could actually see Disneyland Forever going off as we walked out!

We wanted to try and attempt World of Disney again tonight. We hoped that if we beat the Disneyland crowd maybe we would be ok. So we hustled out and made it into WoD while the fireworks were just ending. Nowhere near as chaotic as the night before! We were able to look around freely and the lines were not long at all. I'm wondering if the night prior was like a freak thing? Because even when we left the store, there wasn't the insane crowds like the night before!

We got ourselves back to the room, showered, and passed right out. What would tomorrow bring us??

Up next...An early morning breakfast reservation!

glad you got a great spot for WOC! You definitely had a different experience than we had where we were squished like sardines

It really is a great show - and pretty emotional ... especially the parts with Walt! Your pictures are taking me back!

WOC looks awesome!!

I cannot WAIT to see the Paradise Pier area in person, because I never, ever, ever get tired of seeing pictures of Mickey's Fun Wheel and California Screamin' together like that. It's just gorgeous.

We got our Mickey Mail from DLR today, too, so this update was a bonus for me!!

The world of color looks really amazing, I wonder if the rivers of light will be like that at AK. Nice to know the reserved area was good. We did the fantasmic dining option once and we're happy with our seats.

Oh no, I guess I will be hearing all about your experience in a future update. Such a great show though and definitely emotional!

It's such an amazing show! I am very curious to find out how Rivers of Light is going to be!

Loving this trip report so much! I am planning a quasi-solo (DH at a convention nearby) trip next summer and soaking up the info here.

DH - Are you going to mind going to Disneyland by yourself during the day when I'm in meetings?
ME - Uh... have we even MET?

:)

It sounds like you had some great PP photographers! And that dinner does look good - the dessert is so cute!

Love the picture of Paradise Pier at sunset!

And World of Color sounds amazing. Great pictures - you're making me want to plan a trip to DL!

Day 3 - The Plaza Inn

Today was an early day for us as we had a breakfast reservation to get to! We would be eating at the Plaza Inn this morning, a meal I was very much looking forward to! Just a warning, there are A LOT of photos from this meal so be prepared!

We had an 8:10 reservation with a park opening of 8am. We were able to get into a seperate line specifically for breakfasts which was cool. We were let in and headed right to our destination. We checked in and were told to go right up.

It was a great start to the meal when the Fairy Godmother was outside to greet us! I took a quick photo with her before we went and got our PP photo taken!

We went inside, paid, got our special buttons, and were taken to our seats. We were in a small room to the left, not far at all from the buffett.

We didn't even have time to put our things done before we had characters coming to say hello! We met Captain Hook, Eeyore, Pooh and Dale before even getting a plate of food!

We finally snuck away to grab some food. Sorry I didn't take many food pictures!

Max and Tigger then came by.

Followed by another visit from Pooh!

We were also able to get some fun duo photos!

Continued in next post...

Day 3 - The Plaza Inn (Continued)

Then Chip came by!

\

And finally the star of the breakfast, Minnie!

The Fairy Godmother came by, so I got another photo with her and Mom was able to get one with her AND a friend!

Yep, Pooh was here again! I was able to get what was probably my favorite picture of the meal.

Poor Eeyore was outside being sad. He kept knocking on the window and waving to everyone.

And then the last character we hadn't met yet came by..Rafiki!

And then Captain Hook came by again. I used this time to get him to sign my autograph mat. He started looking at it and pointing out his other evil friends. He pointed to Cruella and made the crazy motion with his hand. He then pointed to the Queen of Hearts and made a "so-so" motion about her. I then asked how he felt about the Evil Queen and he made a heart with his hands. Sounds like someone has a crush!!

He was also a great selfie taker :)

We also had MORE repeat visits from a few characters!

We finally had all the food we could (and met the characters more times than we imagined!) so decided we would head out. I have to say, this meal was above and beyond! The food was delicious, but the character interaction was stellar! I was already happy getting to meet so many characters at one meal, but having them spend so much time and coming over multiple times was awesome! There were times when we would have a repeat visitor and didn't plan on getting up or taking another picture, but they were very insistant about it! And how can we say no to that right? This meal would definitely be a must-do in the future! The only bummer was not getting to see Suzy & Perla. I know they come out for this breakfast sometimes but unfortunately today wasn't one of those days! One thing that took me by surprise though was the photo package! I forgot that you still get hard copies of your meal photos at Disneyland! A nice bonus :)

We got out right around 9..we were only in there an hour but it seemed like much longer!

Up next...We start our day in the park!

sorry to hear there weren't really many character interactions at your breakfast ... bummer

;)

It is crazy how many characters are at that meal - and fairly random assortment as well. Glad you enjoyed the food too!

That breakfast sounds amazing! So many characters. And any meal where you can meet Rafiki and Captain Hook at the same time is very cool. And it looked pretty empty in the background?

I cannot believe how many characters were at that breakfast! I'm tempted to try it myself in July. I've never seen that many characters at any breakfast at WDW, that's for sure! Keep it coming. ;)

We are going to DL this September and reading your trip report makes me even more excited to go!!! Thanks!!!

Yeah kind of a lame breakfast right? :rotfl:

It is crazy how many characters are there. It's nice that it's an assortment, different from the ones offered at WDW meals!

SO amazing! And it was pretty empty. We had one of the first reservations of the day and got seated a few mins early, so I think that's partially why! When we finished there was definitely more people coming in.

It was a great breakfast and very different from any WDW ones. If you like meeting characters, I would recommend it!

Thanks for reading along, I'm glad you're enjoying it! I loved being there in September, you are going to have a great time!

Caught up! I'm really enjoying your TR as I'm planning our Disneyland trip! I'm really excited to go.

Day 3 - Disneyland Fun!

After leaving the Plaza Inn, I went to grab a FP for Space Mountain while my mom went to store some stuff in the locker we rented.

We met back up and took some PP pictures!

We were strolling along the same pathway we met characters at the day before, and stumbled upon Mary & Bert! There was a crowd of people walking with them/taking pictures. They said they could take photos but couldn't stop, so you had to walk and do it at the same time. This was pretty bizarre to me, but mom was able to snap some pics of me with them. It looks like a paparazzi shot. It was pretty chaotic so Mom wasn't able to get one with them.

We then went to see how long the line for the Matterhorn was and it was only 10 minutes! What a difference from the day before! So we jumped right in that line.

Another first time ride for both of us. Surprisingly Mom loved it which I didn't think she would! And similar to my thoughts on Indiana Jones, I was just ok about it! (Roni please don't tell Willow I said that!!) I really wanted to like it but it was so jerky and I felt like the bars that you hold on to were in a very awkward spot, so I couldn't get a comfortable grip. It probably sounds like I'm hating all the rides but I promise it wasn't like that! I think I would need to ride this one again to give a fairer assessment (So spoiler alert, this was the only time we got to ride it :().

We stopped and took some PP pics at one of the special photo spots.

Next up it was time to use our FP for Space Mountain.

Now this I was excited for! I remembered from my brief 2012 visit how much smoother it was compared to WDW's. I was also excited to experience the Ghost Galaxy version. The verdict? We loved it, LOVED IT! Mom thought it was awesome, which I was glad about since she's not crazy about the WDW version. I thought the ghost galaxy music was SO cool too!

Up next...more Disneyland adventures!

Love your matching shirts!

Such a weird way to take pictures with Mary and Bert. :confused3

I love the Matterhorn PP pictures, so cute!
