Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

Silly question. Is there any way to exchange our race shirts if we chose the wrong size? I have the hardest time figuring out sizes without seeing the shirt.

You all are such an inspiration!! Completing a half marathon is one of my goals in life. First I have to figure out how to run a full 5k!

Good luck on the race!! Can't wait to see how much fun you all will have!

My new ear headbands finally came:)

Also got the last component of my 10k outfit, a peasant Cinderella sparkle skirt. Now if I could only run. Expecting another 6-10 inches of snow today. Boo! I fear my last long run on Wednesday will have to be 228 laps on my gym's indoor track :crazy2:

I feel the same way! I live in a condo building where I am by far the baby (at 31), I can only imagine the looks I would get running in my costumes ;)

So I've decided I'm going to run the 10K in the snow white costume (I'm worried about chafing and figure 10K isn't too bad), and the 'pink princess' for the half. Bring on the tutus!

I'm in corral E, anyone else?

How do you know which corral you are in?

Congrats to all of you finishing up your long training runs. Good job! I'm sitting on the side lines here not running. It is so inspiring to read your comments. I know if I don't rest this Achilles I will not be able to complete my runs. Hopefully the 3 week rest will be OK. I'm allowed to go to spin classes just no standing and no hard pushing. Thanks everyone for your stories. The worst is I have my run group but my husband has stepped up and he is taking them out! This morning is beautiful sun rise gorgeous and they are all out for a run! I'll meet them after for coffee at Starbucks!

I got the runDisney ones in the mail the other day and I am so excited to wear them! I figured I could wear those every race weekend since they're not race specific..

Lucky you, she never responded to any of my posts or email requesting a pair. Based on the comments I saw I wasn't the only one.....

I just gave up as it wasn't likely I was going to run in the headband anyway. I sweat entirely too much for that. Would have been nice to have when I went to Disneyland in May though.

I had emailed her double checking on when they would ship out, didn't hear back, and ended up posting on Instagram finally. They arrive the day I posted on Instagram, but shipping notification, even just a comment on the Instagram post where they were sold would have been nice.

Well, this past weekend was a combo 5.5 and 14 mile extravaganza... and it was rough! Even though the temperature was great on Sunday (mid 40's), the wind was constant and gusting up into the mid-20mph range. My wife and I finished slower than we wanted, although I guess it was still within a decent slow, Galloway-style training-run pace.

Now, we just wait for the Main Event!

On a similar topic, I was kind of surprised that the 14 miles were so hard. Last year, we ran our first marathon, so 14 miles should be nothing, right? :scared: Right? o_O Not to mention, we had a half-marathon PR back on November, where our pace was 3 minutes faster per mile than it was yesterday.
Does anyone else see such a huge swing in a relatively short time?

Anyway, I'm very glad we were able to complete the challenging part of our training. Bring on the taper!!!

Did anyone that registered after the 27th have any luck getting waivers? We got a last minute GSC from a travel agent and registered on the 31st. When going to the waiver site it states only registrations prior to the 27th.
Emailed RD twice but no response except for the auto response. Just wondering when it might show up.
thanks!

Just wanted to second all the advice to do a trial run with your PHM costumes!

Seriously! And if you are in the North, find a treadmill or something so you can try out your shorts/skirt exactly as it's gonna be on race day. We had 55 degree temps last week so I wore my running skirt and the tshirt I'm planning to wear on race day. Turns out, the attached shorts are just a wee too short for my gams . I'm either going to be wearing them over a longer pair of compression shorts, or using tons of Body Glide. Possibly both.

Saw this today and thought it was perfect here!
"As a competitive person I can say I've learned a lot of years in what is good and bad competition. You do not need to compare yourself to anyone else. You do not need to act like anyone else. You are the best and you are your best when you give everything and everyone around your best. Stop comparing yourself to others and appreciate yourself for what you've made it."
