DVC for 21 night stays

Thank you, that is a really good tip :)
I would do them in 150-250 point groupings.

I know the question has come up before about how long one can stay in a hotel. The info i came up with is that it's variable and basically up to the hotel. IIRC over 6 months there were some legal issues that changed things but not that much. I don't recall anything in the POS other than the number of points that can be owned.

We bought our AKV with the intent of primarily staying in a Jambo House value studio. We only have 100 points. We wanted to be able to get 9-10 nights from our points. Before the 2010-2011 reallocation, it was only 12 points for a studio(M-Th) @ BCV, etc.
We stayed 16 nights in a value studio during 2015 Thanksgiving time. MS told us about walking. I walked it, adding on a day, dropping a day. It was worth all the calling MS. Without walking, we would not be so fortunate. We received a dedicated savanna view each prior trip; a lovely pool view last time( & they were willing to allow us to move to a savanna room value later in our stay). A reg. size savanna view room or studio can be $500 per night. In this trip alone, including the DVC annual pass discount, we saved an amount equal to our purchase in 2008 :) We were never told that we could choose a UY. We got stuck with a Dec. Use Year, so walking a Ressie that we would want to start in early Dec. is impossible, but combining 2 different use years' of points in one lengthy stay has worked well for us. OP, you are much more likely to get your desired dates using the walking technique.

The best chance to score club level at AKV is to first be somewhat flexible. The majority of people booking this category seem to be "walking" their reservation. What I do is get ready to book online at exactly 8:00 am when my booking window opens. If the studio I want is not available I wait list immediately. Since people are walking their reservation, my wait list normally comes through in two or three days and then I continue adding days if I want to. So far, this strategy has worked for me but understand it is not foolproof.

This is not true as I routinely book 3 week stays for family all in one reservation. As long as you are 21 days within the 11 month window, you can book all 21 days on one reservation by calling MS. A max 14 days can be booked online as long as you're 14 days within the 11 month window. One could call MS and easily add additional days to the initial 14 day reservation if availability permitted; no "entirely new booking" needed. I don't recall if the Master Declarations say anything to limit this, but if they do, it is not enforced in my experience.
But there is no way you could book 14 night for AKV CL at one time. Most members usually wind up walking those reservations or just take the one or two nights they can find by stalking the website. If you wait seven nights to book all 14 at one time, you won't get it at all.

There is no mention of AKL CL in my post. Please read the thread for context before posting! The post you've quoted was made for clarification of the booking procedures in general, not specific to a AKV CL booking. The point that needed addressed was actually in bold in my post. Whether or not one needs to "walk" to get the first 7 days of a reservation is obviously dependent on other variables.

I think an individual booking is limited to 14 nights per the master declaration. I don't know how strictly that's enforced having never stayed that long, but you may run into issues trying to book more than 14 nights in one specific room. Maybe someone else can fill in what I don't know here.

I have stayed at BLT for more than 14 nights several times in the same room. Never had a problem.

But CL was in the original post. Thanks for being so friendly about it.

Not getting CL wouldn't be the end of the world - but we'd obviously need to buy a contract(s) with enough points for CL (396 vs 348 for a Savannah studio). If its extremely unlikely we'd be able to secure CL for a 3 week period, it probably doesn't make sense buying the additional ~50 points required.

I think everyone has some interesting points here. But, my questions would be these:

1)Have you looked at the resales boards? You're talking about 396 points or 348 points. Most contracts are in integers of five or ten (i.e. 350 or 400). I just looked at the resales boards and it looks like you can buy 300 or 500 at AKV. There wasn't anything (today) that I could find in between. Unless you're buying direct from Disney, you're probably going to be hard pressed to find a 348 or 396 point contract.

2)Why do 50 points over? Why not meet in the middle and buy a contract at 375 points (these aren't that hard to find). Do on year in a SV room, bank your extra points for the next year and then use the extra points to get the CL room. That way, you're spicing it up a bit.

Lastly, and I think most important, I have never stayed in a CL room, but I've heard that they are not all SV rooms. To me, using that many points for a room that doesn't have a view of the Savannah is a touch of a waste. But, again, that's just my opinion.

Good luck!
