Are there any types of things that you need to sign up for once you get on the ship, or is all the entertainment purely a first come, first served type of thing (like movies, shows, etc.)? Can you/do you need to sign up for kids activities on the ship as soon as you get on?

The only things I can think of that you need to get tickets/sign up for right after boarding are:

Princess Meet & Greet
Anna/Elsa/Olaf Meet & Greet
Character breakfast (only on certain sailings)
Gingerbread house making (only on Very Merrytime sailings)
alchohol tastings/seminars (extra fee for these)

These have a limited number of tickets available so get them ASAP.

For the kids, you just need to get them signed up with the Oceaneers club and get their wristband but there is no rush. You can do this at the port while waiting to board or after you get on the ship.

FWIW, I was on the Dream last week and the princess gathering tickets were sold out sometime before 2:11pm (they still had Anna and Elsa). So if that is important to you, I would do it as soon as you board.

Thanks for the advice. The meet and greets are not that important to us, so I don't think that will be an issue. I don't think those other things will be offered on our Magic 4-day cruise, so no worries on those either.

When you check in and receive the daily navigator it should list all the items DCL is accepting sign-ups for once you board the ship. I would also suggest you continually check the navigator for possible other event that require sign-ups.

If you are interested in a galley tour (adults only - free) - you can ask guest services or the concierge team when you board if one will be offered during your cruise, and you would receive a ticket for that as well, or at least given the day/time/location to meet. It is pretty cool to see the kitchens behind the scene, but I'm not sure if they offer it every cruise or not. I have never seen it advertised, so you won't know until you ask. Mixology and tastings are a must if you are interested, as I've found they fill up fast. Some spa treatments can also only be booked once on board, I think.

Thanks Ludari. I'll watch the Navigator flyer closely.
Do you (or anyone else) know if the events requiring tickets or sign-ups are listed in the Disney navigator app as well?
