News Round Up 2016

Yes that actual room is paid for, but those renters might otherwise have paid for a room of their own in a Disney hotel (or not) so Disney loses potential revenue.

The numbers are likely small enough not to matter.

Yeah, but then Disney would have to spend more labor on them. At least that is always the line as to why Disney wants more DVC units.

If the rack rooms are empty, they're spending as much labor on them anyway.

They want 100% occupancy at 110% retail price...whatever mix gets to that - 25% DVC, 50%, 100%...whatever

First promo for the Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland 60. They emphazise an exclusive preview of Shanghai DL and Star Wars land. I don't think they are announcing anything big (for the reasons we've discussed before), but I wonder if there's any interesting detail in there.

I'm thinking maybe a new concept photo or something but not much more. As for Shanghai probably nothing more than we already know, but media will spin it as new stuff.

I'll agree the fireworks themselves are lacking in this show. But I love the narration.

Ehhh..."the power of our dreams"..."concentrate wishes, Captain Kirk"

???
It's cheesy for a 5 year old...a can of corn.

I would rather they do sorcery in the sky/fantasy in the sky forever than the Disney cartoon highlight reels known as "wishes" and "fantasmic"...but that's just me.

I do like the sorcerers apprentice sequence though...it just last 25 seconds.

Disney basically dominated the Annie Awards 2016. These awards recognize the best in the animation and especial effects industry. Pixar's Inside Out got 10 awards including best animated feature. Good Dinosaur got one. Disney television gets 3 awards between the Mickey Mouse shorts and Gravity Falls. Avengers: Age of Ultron got one as well for animated effects in live-action. I'm so enamored of the floating mountains. Even the little bits that are visible so far are just so gorgeous. Put the facade of Uni's new Kong project to shame, IMO.

I'm also loving the watching the progress on ROL - getting terribly excited for this. I don't know whether I'll be able to see it in person anytime soon, I might have to figure out a short trip - even just a couple days - once it's out.

Who knew Tarzan was so scantily clad? I might have found the thing that can finally get me out to Rafiki's. puckerup:

Am I the only one who fearfully wonders what will happen with the floating mountain(s) in hurricane force winds? I think I may have watched too many "Modern Marvels: Engineering Disasters" episodes. o_O
I think Disney knows what they are doing here. It would probably take something incredibly extreme to do something to those mountains considering the supports they have.
