Photo Package Tip

This worked for me on the Dream last week, but obviously YMMV. My apologies if this has been posted before.

We were sailing with my Mom and Dad in 1 room, Mother-in-Law and DD in room 2, and me, DW, and DS in room 3. We preordered a digital photo package for our room.

When at a picture event, we would just give our KTTW card, and all of the pictures ended up associated with our room (I guess this overrides the facial recognition?). So we ended up with all of the pictures of the grandparents without us or the kids (this was only 4-5 pics). I was thinking it could work nicely for extended families (cousins, aunts, uncles) or friends across multiple staterooms - As long as you all line up together.

Yeah, when they use your card it doesn't only do the facial recognition part (at least on the Dream). The ones they randomly take at Dinner or out and about are the ones that they use facial recognition mainly for. (Keep in mind though, what you're suggesting is technically against the rules. When folks are staying in other staterooms you're "supposed" to pay for another photo package. It was, last time I checked, 50% off for the second state room if you had pre-ordered your first one before you left.) Group pictures that include at least one member of your own stateroom where you bought your package are allowed but sharing a KTTWC isn't really "allowed".

The KTTW card does not automatically put the pictures in your folder, atleast not on the Wonder. There were MANY pictures that were missing from our portfolio (3 people in our group in one SR) simply because the facial recognition software did not identify our DD because her back was to the camera. We would swipe the card and have the photos done. Some of the pics from the session would end up in the folio and some would not be there. I asked about it and found out that I needed to "claim" them from the lost pictures kiosks.

We also ended up with pictures of DD in our folio from picture events where one of her new onboard friend's family used their KTTW card. It simply used the software and put the picture in both of our portfolios.

While you lucked out with this, it's not the norm. Swiping the same KTTW card (from the room that purchased the CD), regardless of who's actually in the picture typically doesn't put all the pictures on the CD.

No photo police here. If it works for you. Good job. Enjoy the memories.
