Can anyone advise me on off site dining options?

I am looking at some dining choices for our upcoming Orlando trip. We have previously stayed on Disney property and eaten all Disney food. Which has been fun but we are ready for a change. I am looking for fun off site dining options to replace all of our typical Disney character meals/themed restaurants etc. We are planning to do a Universal Character meal as well. We are travelling with two boys (one has Celiac and eats gluten free) and looking for yummy food and good fun. Has anyone been to any of these or have other suggestions?

Senor Frogs
Dave and Busters
Agave Azul
Medieval Times
Cuba Libre

Have you checked out tripadvisor reviews?

Haven't been to any of those venues in Orlando. Of them, i'd think Dave & Busters a good choice if kids are of the tween vs toddler age. Some of their properties have a curfew in place on (ex: after 9 pm on Saturdays) for under 18, might want to check with them.

Senor Frogs? There's one in nearly every port of call when cruising. Have visited many of them before heading back onboard to watch adult drinking shenanigans. :rolleyes1 Last place i'd take a kid. It's possible the US locations have sanitized the experience to appeal to families but i would carefully check out the reviews.

re Universal Character meals, we enjoyed seeing characters at Islands during dinner butt the breakfast at LaBamba has many different characters and amazing interaction.

Disney Springs does offer rain forest & Trex & several of the disney resorts have character meals if you find yourself needing a bit of a disney fix.

i've done the Dave & Busters and Medieval Times in orlando before.

Both were entertaining and decent.

You would have to check with the restaurants direct to find out if you can preorder meals that work with the dietary restrictions your boys have.

I thought M Times had a website where you could indicate dietary needs.
do check them out in advance.

I preordered for my kids when we went there.

We ate at Cuba Libre last summer, just the hubby and I, and we really enjoyed it. I don't know if our teens (then 14 and 16) would have appreciated it as much; it is more of a grown-up experience. They are a rum bar / restaurant, so more adult oriented. That said, we had leftovers and brought them back to the condo. Our adventurous eater liked a few of the things, and our 14 just said "no".

We did some offsite fast food, but the boys esp liked Moe's and Fuddruckers. Both of these are in a shopping center just of I4 at Apopka-Vineland Rd in a spot that is seriously underserved by entrances and exits to the parking lot. We ended up turning right out of the least busy spot and going through back streets to return to Wyndham Bonnet Creek. One trip we tried the McD drivethru at that location and it was a serious disaster.

If any reader likes Moes and staying onsite, there is a Moes in City Walk

are you talking about Crossroads ?

I'm very surprised by what you say, because ithas a very efficient and speedy exit that shoots straight across Vineland (535) between McD and Uno's .

There is a WDW gate right across the road from that's at the top of Hotel Plaza Boulevard, leading to Buena Vista Drive, and there you are at WBC ... When you're at the exit of the McD drive through you can see the WDW entrance gate.

Three times we've eaten there, and only once were we able to make a speedy exit. That once was during our 2015 trip. We idled in the parking lot trying to get through that light for 30 minutes one night in 2012. It was a disaster. Now, it rained that whole week in 2012, so maybe things were busier than usual, but in both our mid-June trips, we had issues with getting out of that area.

Margaritaville has always been good for us and nice to sit on the patio.

My dining reviews are in my trip reports, mix of onsite Universal restaurants and nearby places

You have the very best trip reports! Organized well, reviews are great, good pictures but also prices and if you have a coupon or deal you share that too. Very helpful I think.

i'm glad you said that as i was thinking the same thing. Dixonsontour does a swell job!

and i noticed schumigirl puts a lot of pictures and thoughts into hers also.

We were considering a dinner show for our trip in March. We have 15 year old twin girls. Suggestions? We thought about the luau at RPR since that is where we are staying, but we will not be there on Saturday night. Thought?

Don't forget to check out the restaurant options at the resorts at UO. We liked The Kitchen at the HRH and Jakes at RPR. Those are the only one's I have tried at the resorts, but there are plenty more!

And poolside at both HRH and RPR were good too.
And the diner at CB may have options as well.
