Disney Dream: May 9, 2016

Hello Again Fellow Cruisers!!

Getting super excited - within the 90-day countdown!! Did the online check-in and booked some activities. I even dreamt about the cruise last night!!! LOL!

For those that might be interested, here is a link to the DisneyCruiseLine blog by Scott Sanders. His site has posted a recent set of navigators for the same itinerary that we are heading out on (From Jan 2016): http://disneycruiselineblog.com/201...hamian-cruise-port-canaveral-january-11-2016/ . While our trip could be different, I did find it useful when trying to avoid booking activities like the spa or BBB over top of something else that the family is interested in.

It's pirate night on the Disney Dream tonight! Soon it will be us! ARRRG! pirate:

Hello this will be our first cruise on the dream!! I am soooo super excited as it will just the two of celebrating our honeymoon! Please add me in to the FE!! I am not sure exactly what to do but I am sure everyone here can help!! :)

My husband and I will be cruising for the first time and we are extremely excited. I signed up for this forum just so I can participate with this fish extender gift exchange. It sounds like so much fun! I hope I figure out what Im giving out soon, there are too many options.

I don't know if its just me, but I believe some people forgot to notate their room numbers. If you could please post them soon that would be most appreciative.

Grace - 31

Ive been working on a master list for FE. It is sorted by stateroom number. So far there is a total of 52 people and 17 families. Of the 17 families, 7 groups have no stateroom posted. Highlighted names annotates the person's gender. Forgive me if I left out info or misspelled names.

(The list was removed from this post and will be relocated to private conversation)

Hi Graciemon!

Thank you for putting together the list. It looks great! Love the extra column about special stuff for the participants :)

This was on my todo this weekend as well :). Wondering if we could do a private document, maybe on google docs, so we can share without it going on the internet public. I would be happy to set this up!!

Also wanted thoughts from the group on how many rooms we want to add to the list. Thinking 15 or maybe 20? We can follow the confirmation process suggested by PrincessShmoo. Then start the pixie dust list.

I agree! I would love a private document!

maybe on google docs,
Unfortunately, that site is on the "do no post links to...." list. Now, the actual list could be maintained (by the organizer) there, but then it would need to be converted to a picture to post into a conversation, or on the main Cruise Meet thread for your cruise.

Thanks PrincessShmoo! Do you allow any other secure means of communicating the information? Personally, I wouldn't participate in something that requires my personal information being posted in a public forum online. I thought using a password protected document that requires nothing except a web browser would follow the Disboards policy regarding no facebook yet maintain security for it's users.

The only option here is using the private conversations feature. That way, only those participating in the group can see the information. Beyond that, e-mails. But, I'm not sure how you would get everyone's email addresses to all people participating without actually posting there (either on the cruise meet thread or in a conversation).

Thanks for the update.

All - does anyone have a way to post information where it is not publicly available on the Internet? I read the policy linked and it seems it was instituted for non-solicitation and safety. I'm not familiar with the private message or conversation feature here. I don't know if that is "google-able" or not.

Disappointed. This really was part of the fun leading up to the cruise and why I used DU to book. :sad1:

To start a conversation, you click on the person's avatar or username you with to have the private discussion with. In the next window click on "Start a conversation". Then you can title it, select those users you want to be able to participate (can be up to 20 participants). Write your message, then at the bottom of the message window, you can click on "Allow anyone in the conversation to invite others" or "Lock conversation". If you don't select the first option, only you can add additional people (up to the 20 max). To invite more people, scroll down to the bottom of the page, at the lower right is "Conversation particpants". And a "Invite more" link.

If you do allow all participants to invite others, they can do the same.

Only those people who you've invited to participate can see whatever is discussed there.

I originally made an excel spreadsheet, how come it wouldn't let me post it?

Regarding private conversations, I noticed some users don't have a "start a conversation" feature in their profile. Is that a setting?
