Fingers crossed, first offer made. Pixie dust appreciated!

Feeling you on the airfare from CA. The highlight of my year so far was getting SFO-MCO roundtrip during Thanksgiving week for $350! The airfare also didn't stop us from placing our first offer last week! :yay: Hope everything goes quickly for you (and me)!
Nice! Hope you get yours as well! Where are you buying? Great price on the Sfo-Mco btw. If we didn't live so far away I would absolutely be taking more trips to Wdw. I guess if we get the Dvc it will be a great reason to get those airfare deals much earlier than I normally do! Pixie dust for us all.:tinker:

We placed an offer on BLT. Hoping it goes through! The wait is killer though. :bored:

Could I ask who you used to make the offer? There are so many brokers out there.
Thanks

Well I don't think you were asking me but I will throw in my two cents. Stick with the companies listed on the sticky and don't waste time trying to hunt a deal down from a company that doesn't do a high numberof DVC. I thought I could find some secret deal out there by searching through many other brokers who only had one or two Disney listing. Surely, I thought, if I had to look this hard for it the seller must not be getting many offers and will thus be more motivated. NOPE! The result was a ton of wasted time on emails and phone calls that didn't get returned or when they did the information was only half there because the brokers were inexperienced with the DVC product. Also, many of the contracts weren't even still available from the smaller sites they just updated their websites infrequently.
I copied and pasted from the sticky below.

Here are some of the DVC resale brokers often mentioned on the DIS:

The Timeshare Store (a DIS sponsor) - http://www.dvc-resales.com
Fidelity Resales - http://fidelityresales.com/
DVC by Resale - http://www.dvcbyresale.com/
Selling Timeshares - http://www.sellingtimeshares.net
DVC Magic Resales - http://www.DVCmagicresales.com
DVC Resale Market - http://www.dvcresalemarket.com/

I don't think you will go wrong with any of those. I also found *************.com which looked like another good option but is new and I don't know anyhting about them. With any of those, though, their experience and customer service is really worth it. I just switched to dvcresalemarket.com after getting no response on my offer with another company for 3 weeks (divorce sale-husband ignored us and wife accepted so I was holding out). Anyway, I put in an offer online for 8$ less per point than asking and had a call within 30 minutes confirming thats what I wanted to offer. Another twenty minutes after that I got another call stating they countered with 5$ below asking and I got my paperwork to sign this morning. He spent a great deal of time explaining exactly how the process would go and what to expect.

Good luck!

Bee Thaxton at *************.com is great! They are a newer site, but they used to only rent points and have expanded to do resale. One of my contracts I am currently in ROFR with is through them and they have been great to work with. Just wanted to provide some feedback since they are new!

Also, I did the same in trying to find some hidden contract. I did find one and am still in beginning stages (not on the list), so we'll see how this goes. I've purchased from Fidelity and DVC by Resale in the past and had good experiences as well.

Hello all!

I have been lurking and researching this board for several years trying to decide if becoming a dvc member was right for our family. After just returning from a cruise on the Fantasy with a stop at WDW staying at the BWV for 5 nights, we decided to take the plunge and hopefully become part of the dvc family!

Just made an offer on BWV for 250 points. Offered $93 a point. UY December with 453 points in 2015 & 250 points 2016 & 2017. Paying closing costs & MF. Hopefully this is accepted and makes it through ROFR. Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone here that shares their wealth of experience and knowledge with us newbies :jester: Looking forward to many more exciting Disney vacations.:tink:
Great price with all of those banked points. Good luck!

Glad searching for stragglers worked for you. I ran into so many scammy and sleezy timeshare salesmen. If the contact was at a good price there was either a ton of excessive fees (one had a 1500 brokerage fee AND 1000 closing!) or, more often than not, they were old postings that weren't available. I was so frustrated by the end of weeks of searching.
Although if I ever add on I know I would do it again so I didn't feel like I was missing a good deal somewhere.

I have a pretty good sized spreadsheet that I kept track of prices with along with links and notes about different companies I contacted so hopefully, when I inevitably do this again, I don't have to waste as much energy shifting through the junk.

The one I'm working with now sound somewhat like what you are mentioning. Luckily the RE agent isn't sleezy, but I am very leery as I haven't dealt with this broker before.

The fees were high, but they've come down since I questioned them. Removed the broker fee (I told them the seller should pay) and gave me a credit from the sellers listing, so back in a normal range.

The deal is too good to pass up, hopefully it comes through.

I wonder if we were trying to contact the same company? It sounds very similar. He told me the seller would not come a down a penny on sales price or the brokerage fees. Then a few days later I get another email saying he could drop a bit and that they could take a couple hundred off the closing. That rubbed me wrong and I figured it wasn't worth it to deal with someplace I wasn't comfortable with. It was a 200 point SS contract with full 2015/2016/2017 points available at a great price (not AS good with all the dumb fees added in). It was like 14K and he told me he would add the brokerage fee in with the sales price so we wouldn't raise any flags at ROFR. UMM. I am not stupid--you aren't listing a 14k contract. Your listing a $15,500 contract!
It really bothered me how sneaky they kept trying to be with the fees.

I am a bit leery of this company after the reviews I've read. So far the woman has delivered what she's said, so hopefully don't run in to any issues. My contract is VGF.

We also used Bee Thaxton at *************.com and have had the best experience. They are a smaller/newer company, but can't say one bad thing about her or the transaction. We definitely got a better deal going with her then some of the recommended sites.
